TheX
Besides bikes and flying things I do a lot of guitar building/wood working. This is a neck-thru Flying V made with maple and purple heart. I used Steinberger components for a headless design. taco_junkie
Neat. So you did the neck/body and added a stock fingerboard? What at the pickups and how is that wired?
TheX
No, the fingerboard was just a slab of cocobolo. I Shaped the neck with a spoke shave, and used a hand plan to shape the fingerboard. Then I cut the fret slots and added the binding. Did the frets by hand also. I thought I had pics of the fingerboard blank before I started, but I don't see any. The pickups are stacked P-100's, and wired for coil splitting. TheX
And a lap steel from around the same time.
taco_junkie
Wow that's impressive. I'm only familiar with the mostly finished necks and bodies from places like Warmoth. Paint, bolt on, and add hardware. I don't have half the stuff or the space I'd need to do a body or neck like that. Someday maybe.
TheX
I love building partscasters as well. This one started as a pile of planks.
taco_junkie
Heh, partscaster. I like that. I'm stealing it.
TheX
Here's a Tele I did with Masonite and 2x4's in a Danelectro style. Ended up surf green with a scratch built neck.
