  1. What Skyhorn said is correct, no length change.
  2. Peddlers Pass Westside is open. Two corners are still muddy (which will be fixed if it ever dries out) and final tweaks are still to come. What it needs is people to ride it and smooth out those bumps.
  3. Oh...you can guarantee there will be haters. As First-Blood said, once it gets packed in, smooths out, and the vegetation grows back, the haters will have little to complain about...but they still will. I've already heard people complain that the triangle bridge is gone.
  4. It's true, it's open. It needs lots of wheels on it to help compact/smooth it.
  5. If you're fast enough you'll be able to clear the middle of the bridge.....oh.....and we fixed the drainage issues and stopped people riding through the creek.
  6. I will be waiting for you if you try and go through the creek.
  7. Peddlers Pass. KOM re-working of the berm just before the table top bridge on the West side (the last bridge of the westside).
  8. Buckets are by the new bridge
  9. The Frontage road should be mostly elevated next to the trail to get over Brushy Creek so the footprint should be fairly small.
  10. Bridge is done. I just need to put dirt on each end for a smooth transition.
  11. There's also that certain area that is fenced off and shall not be disturbed 😉 that they won't want to mess with.
  12. When it's dry they can go fast. They did 1,000 feet of trail on Tuesday.
  13. This picture was taken yesterday evening after a storm had rolled through. The creek actually gets very little flow through it. I've never seen any evidence it has gone over its banks. The drainage area above it is small or controlled by detention structures across Brushy Creek road. Even with all the flooding we've gotten this week and in the past, there's never evidence it floods, look at the grass on either side of the creek, it hasn't been flattened, there's no flood debris on the edge of the creek etc.
  14. That's a nice gesture, thank you. I hope I didn't come off as whining about having to pay for stuff on the trail, I do it because I love trail building and want Peddlers to be the best it can be. I don't expect people to contribute financially to the trail, just ride it and enjoy it. There are several other people that have contributed financially to the trail including KOM by doing all this amazing machine work at a big discount (can't wait for everyone to see it). The owner of Northwest Construction Inc. (Steve Deborde) paid for the material on the other four bridges out of his own pocket (and built them). Skyhorn has purchased tools. Thank you guys. With that said...Home Depot gift cards would be appreciated to cover the cost of materials and tools, or random six packs of beer, or maybe a good Irish Whisky. Just hide them well, I've heard First-Blood can get thirsty some times. If you guys do purchase gift cards or beer, or whiskey I'll make sure they make it to the appropriate people.
  15. Unfortunately we don't have the big KOM bridge building budget. I paid for the wood/concrete/screws myself and Northwest Construction is donating the labour to build it. EnduraRace donated some wood as well. The frame is nearly complete.
  16. What's shown is just the middle portion (see post above for bridge dimensions). What you see in the picture is us making sure the alignment is correct.
  17. Yep, you now have enough speed to coast to the top of the hill without peddaling if you want.
  18. And that's not the biggest one. When I've seen some of them for them first time all I could keep saying is Holy S!@#, Holy S!@#, Holy S!@#. Especially the ones on the section I mentioned above.
  19. Peddlers Pass Update. Progress is moving along nicely and KOM is over the halfway point. There are about two weeks left of building. The West side of the trail is currently closed because of all the rain we've had and is predicted. Lots of damage will happen If it's ridden in its current state before the final adjustments and compacting happen. The goal was to keep the trail open as much as possible, but the weather has put a stop to that. It will lightly remain closed until building has finished. I promise you the wait will be worth it. What's been built so far is like nothing else I've ever ridden in Texas. The sectionKOM just finished from the highest point on the trail next to the entrance to the Sports Park all the way down the hill to the tight S-turn at the lowest point on the trail is amazing. Also, Northwest Construction & Remodeling inc. started work on replacing the skinny triangle bridge. It's going to be replaced with a 24' long, 4' wide bridge, with an 8' flat section on top then gently angled ramps on each end. This should stop people cutting through the creek which was causing drainage issues and keeping that area constantly wet. The 1st pic below is the start of the replacement bridge construction. The 2nd picture gives you an idea of the size of the berms been built and the number of rocks KOM is having to deal with (the berm pictured is not a finished one with the rocks removed). Even though the Westside is taped off, blocked, and signs up, people are still trying to ride it. Pass the word to stay off it.
  20. Probably no trails are rideable.
  21. I'll be working on Peddlers Pass after 5:00 pm today. If you need some last minute paydirt, come join me. I'll be somewhere West of Parmer.
