It may be a cool idea to grab a handful of those rear lights and keep in your car to hand out when you see people riding at night without them.

That is a great idea and I used to keep a brand new one in the glove box and even tried to chase someone down once but by the time I turned around and tried to find them I couldn't. Need to put one or 2 back in the truck. Thanks for the reminder.

  2. Thanks guys. There is a hack (at least for now). Simply substitute nitter.net for the twitter.com portion of the link. Incognito mode may also help. I can see all the posts now and don't have an account.

After looking into it, nitter seems awesome - I think this guy summed it up - That's why I'm a fan of Nitter, a free service that lets you quickly look at a tweet, thread, or profile without getting sucked in. This is a lightweight, private front-end—basically you can replace any Twitter URL with a Nitter one and the tweet will open without any ads, tracking, or other nonsense.

I did not like this.  My wife’s grandpa liked Early Times—the cheap one in the plastic bottle.  We bought him nicer stuff and he refused it.  So after the anything BIB recommendation, this is the first one I got.  I can’t remember the details but it was off-putting to me.  It could have been a bad memory association with having it on those retirement home/dentist little solo cups (was not supposed to have it there!) Glad you liked it for yourself though.  I still try other BIB stuff and like pretty much everything BIB.  I may give it another shot now that my palate has developed some more, just out of nostalgia.

Today it was a beer day.  We went to this brewery and had excellent Strombolis and pizza (thin crust.) super popular with families with small kids btw.  Got myself a crawler to go.  Made with 100% Nelson Sauvin Hops, hence the Willie Nelson album name.IMG_3592.thumb.jpeg.6b5e6b844945883535231ce9c1f7931b.jpeg

Nice. I dig that place. Some good beers and the stromboli is mighty tasty. Parking is the only real negative.

  4. It is already looking worse than last time in my hood. Branches were falling left and right between about 6 and 10, it seems to have stabilized somewhat. At least 2 neighbors had sizable branches fall on their cars, probably just big scratches I think, the leafy parts hit first to break the falls. No major damage that I can see yet. Fingers crossed.

Hopefully not too much trail damage. Some areas don't seem too bad.

Went out again yesterday and the logs were strewn all over the place.  Not sure what happened but it looked like hogs tore it up. At least that's what the ground around it indicated. I've never seen hogs out there though.

I repositioned many of them but it was a right mess

Pretty sure Eric (Rugger) had a rant against these log piles. He may be disassembling them.

I checked with the folks as AB World Headquarters and they let me know that this trail conditions site is pulled from another kind soul who manages it. @crazyt owns that and he can tell you how to provide updates for RHR.

The API automatically updates every 5 minutes so if someone submits the status to his app, 5 minutes later, through a series of tubes, the new result magically shows up on my site.

Thanks John. Yeah, where I was going with that was it would be great if there was someone intimately knowledgeable about the trail conditions out there 😉. Are we to assume it is always open and just let our personal tolerance for riding mud and our best guess be our guide? I guess my impression is with so much new trail it may not be baked in very well and needs drying time like most places. Seems like more clay in the remaining terrain than some of the sandier stuff in the back of the original trail system. Any thoughts/tips are appreciated @Ridenfool!!

  7. It has been awhile but I enjoyed racing and riding out there back in the day. I was thinking of hitting it soon (and the nearby State Park trails) but unfortunately it got pretty much wiped out by fire in July. 😞

Thurs July 21. On Monday July 18, a raging wildfire swept over the Solavaca destroying everything in its path. 90% destroy the trees and plants. Our house, barn and all in its path reduced to rubble. The Solavaca Trails are likely done for. Pause and remember. It blessed us all.

  8. Spotted this guy near the east end of the BCRT on Tuesday morning. It didn't look like he could have made the turn onto Hairy Man Rd even if he hadn't grounded it. Came back about 90 minutes later and they were gone, If I had time to kill I might've grabbed a beer or 2 and watched. I'm sure the driver wanted to kick my butt for taking pics is why I didn't get closer.
