It is in the open space to the right of "SN3" on that map. It connects to a trail called "I'm gonna buy me a boat, gonna buy a truck to pull it"

This is really great advice for folks just getting into more technical riding. It took me a few solid years of riding 3-4 times per week at BC before I was able to conquer most of the features. My approach during the developmental phase was to go out with the primary objective of having fun and staying fit. Secondarily, I would focus on one or two features per ride that I thought I should be capable of tackling. Initially when I couldn't clear something the first try, I was trying 3-4 times and just getting frustrated. Eventually I adopted the approach of never trying a particular feature more than two times per ride. As my confidence grew and I started clearing more and more features each ride, I adopted the approach of never trying a particular feature more than once per ride, and if I failed, I would focus my next ride on making sure I attacked those same features that tripped me up the last ride.
Speaking of BC features, there is one that I love that gets little attention or discussion on this thread. It is the alternate drop when coming E-W on Picnic at the point where you would otherwise turn left towards PicnicX. It's a steep, rockface that requires some finesse braking and cornering, without which you'd be slamming into the adjacent rockface. You also need to maintain enough momentum to get you up the incline at the other end of the horseshoe. Not sure if it has a name, but it's a great feature.
The feature on picnic you are discussing is Ravine Drop. I still haven't done that one. It scares the crap out of me. I've seen it done, but man that thing is intimidating to look at. Even if I roll down, I got to refocus to make the hard left and then carry momentum to get out. That's a lot of things that have to go right 🙂

Is one of those two remaining drops shown in the pic called "Basket"? I go off of both of those routinely but have never figured out if they have names (not that I really care - just curious). By the way, big thanks to whoever cleared that low hanging branch beneath the exit on that first one (easternmost). I recall they even created a bit of a log roll from the cut lumber. Just noticed that this past weekend.
Ronan, Greg and I(Bill) converted that fallen tree to a nice send/roll feature a couple weeks ago. It’s pretty sweet. Now working on a berm right after it to help out.

if you put down any kinda power/torque, stay away from absolute black rings. ive folded about 5 of them over the years.
wolftooth is a great brand and their drop stop NW teeth works very well in my experiences.
Weird. I put a lot of torque (chain breaking maniac and two free hubs in a year) but my AB oval still going strong.

Wonder what happened to all the hill side ramp jumps at 512 church area? They are all gone.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalkas in the drop trainer area. Was it 3 side by side drops?

I should avoid commenting on the specifics of anyone's bike fit without seeing them in person, on the bike. getting your hands higher and closer to your shoulders might help and it might not. a shorter stem might also help. maybe the frame is actually too small for you. too many variables to make a useful point online. my office is always open if someone wants a somewhat more informed opinion for free.
So you are good at bike fit? Just want to make sure that is what I am reading.

Thanks everyone for the ideas. I will look into these.

Wish:
I know this is a shot in the dark, but my buddy Andy at Peddler Bike Shop is recommending I try some handlebars with more of a rise to them to see if that gets me slightly more vertical. I'm hoping it will lessen my odds of going OTB.
Does anyone have an extra pair of 35mm bars with 30-45mm rise? Preferably 780 or wider but I just want to try it out before I buy new handlebars. I don't even need to keep the bars. Maybe just borrow and return if you would prefer to have them back?
Anyone?

Today ARR Trail Stweards and crew were out at Brushy assessing the damage and clearing the concrete Regional trail. We should have it cleared from the skate park to the ymca by the end of the weekend. I can't stress enough how bad the damage is, every trail is blocked with fallen trees and snapped branches. Based on what i saw its going to take weeks to clear all the trails. We need your help more than ever before. The trails need to dry alot, but plan to come help next weekend.
I had a really good time meeting everyone today. Amazing how much we got done. Basically cleared out from Skate Park to 183A and the portion to YMCA will be done later today. Great job. We really made a difference today.

Just FYI, Crystal Falls is private HOA, with a lot of resident foot traffic that would rather not have bikes on their trails... There's a good bit of controversy surrounding it already, so the more traffic it gets and the more it shows up on Strava, the quicker resident riders will lose it.
Any time I ride there I always make sure to be OVERLY nice to everyone I encounter. Try to keep everyone happy and that trail open 🙂

@GreenMTBrider had an awesome set up for hauling the logs. Sadly, three logs were too heavy for the one tire but we managed. I'm ready to have that fence up on picnic and to be able to turn our battle to other fronts.

Ok slackers. Today is the last building day on Bob Ross before it opens (4:30pm-6:30pm). If you want good trail karma come help.
I'm going to help Green with the cedar post then i'll head over there.

@HoneyBadger thanks for helping to get that fence on the Picnic drop in. I've grown tired of fighting the fight of keeping brushy in that spot.
Bummer to hear about Wilco SW park.

Did the trail build go ok on Saturday? My shoulder is still jacked from my wreck on Snail Trail, and I couldn't make it out.

Hey give me a break. The fact that I’m an Okie and able to use my phone at all to post on a message board should be impressive.
Didn't realize you were an Okie (from Muskogee?), I'll type slower from now on.

Have: Pearl Izumi cold weather gloves, size large. Hi-vis yellow.
These are too big for my hands, not sure why I even bought this size but I've had them for a while. You're welcome to them but you if you happen to have some medium gloves that are too small, I could use those.
I will gladly take them. Sorry, I do not have mediums to offer in return but I will wish you good fortune!
