Selfish humans don't change their ways without consequences, and we don't really have any consequences to dish out. What if we took a picture of everyone riding the trails that shouldn't be? Explain to them how they are damaging the trails, and we are taking their picture as proof they were told not to do it, and expect to never see them on a wet trail again. We could have a seperate thread called "caught riding dirty" and put their pictures in there. If nothing else, they would know that they were busted with proof and maybe not do it anymore?

That's a great technique, you even come across as the nice guy and get them to leash up. Is it really 500 fine per dog? Thats pretty steep!

It's been quiet over here, so I thought a little stoke video to get the weekend started was in order! I helped my buddy Alex film some good friends out at Walnut creek. I was the lead camera and he was the chase camera. Let me know what yall think! We share the same stoke as you guys, and feel like we need to try harder than anyone to leave a good impression. Many bikers are resistant to the idea of sharing the trails with us, and we are going to keep on giving them reasons to put that resistance aside. There is no better way in my mind to do that, than good ole fashioned hard work. As time goes on, I hope the bike community becomes more aware of our efforts, thanks for recognizing it!

Did we meet and I didn't know it? I should have asked everyone what their screen names were! I couldn't believe we had 7 OW riders show up. That's pretty much everyone I ride with, and only 2 of us had ever even ridden Peddlers before. The last rainout just gave us more time to gather some more troops. 6 guys shoveling dirt, and 1 girl lopping and clearing. The rain didn't help at all. I was hoping we could have smoothed out that berm real nice. I'll pay it a visit this week and see if I can give it some love.

Walnut Creek has its Fighting Knights in Rubber Armor group, so Mariachi for Brushy Creek sounds good to me! It's good entertainment while charging 😁

Yep, you got it. They are not stock, a OW comes with Vega, but these are Kart tires by Hoosier, Hoosier and Burris are now actually making onewheel specific tires, but the one in the pic is a Hoosier slick kart tire for dirt.

I'm meeting a friend today at Peddlers Pass for a ride at 415 if anyone wants to join. I'll bring an extra board to try for anybody or anywookie who is interested in trying it out

I'm trying to get some funds together for some Tshirts, but this weekend I'll ask everyone to wear some other onewheel tshirt if they have one. If the organizer of this meetup agrees, we would be happy to bring our OWs along as tools. We can shuttle dirt buckets, haul wheelbarrows, and our tires do a good job to flatten and pack fresh trail. I don't want to be a distraction from the work effort, but I can't tell you how many times it comes in handy.

I know this conversation is much bigger than Onewheels, but for the record, I don't think anyone in the Onewheel community is asking for any B lines. We expect to carry in a few spots- it's part of the game. If it's too much carrying, then we find another trail, or come back when we are better riders. As a MTB rider I have always felt this way, and never expected anyone to make a difficult trail easier, so that I could ride it. In today's environment, I'm not sure what the best stance is on the subject, so I'll leave it to the experts. I'm happy to work on whatever the leader of the trail maintenance suggests. If that is B lines, then let's make some B lines. I'm still learning and taking it all in. This past weekend, 2 of my friends joined me at Walnut to work the trails. We were 3 of 9 total volunteers, although one friend had to leave early to teach Sunday school. We did 3 hours of straight shoveling in the sun. The work was done on lower powerline where we added some rollers. I think it came out great!

I understand the concern of trail sanitizing and I hadn't considered how much it occurs out there until being a part of this group. I cant speak for everyone on a OW, but those who I know who ride trails do it for the fun of the challenge. Conquering a touch section is like a badge of honor amongst our group, so I dont see it as an issue, but I realize another way I can be an advocate for our OW group. I can share what I learn from you all with the OW group. Making posts about good trail tips in the OW group will help teach the new riders and keep them out of trouble.

Thanks for that. Unfortunately the biking community has more than it's share of bad representatives, and I am now understanding how they bother the good bikers as much as us OWs. I think in most cases it is because they are not part of the community, they ride alone and are just uninformed on how to behave. They call those things above an EUC for Electric UniCycle. These guys can't look behind very well, but I'm sure he heard you. I've never understood why some people won't move out of the way when you catch up to them. He should have gotten out of your way, just like anyone else.

You are right - not many OWs are on the rough trails - I guesstimate only about 20% of OW owners ever even go on trails, and I'd guess about 90% of those will stick to a trail like this one, or .6 loop. It seems like the people who have mountain bikes like the trails, and those who never been on the trails don't really want to start on a OW. Here's an idea on how to convince your wife to spend 5k - keep you current bike, buy 2 Onewheel XRs, one for you and the wife, and still have $1000 bucks left over for a vacation :)

I hope that guy in the video had a cup on - some of those high weeds looked painful! Those looks fun, but no brakes? YIKES! I'd still give 'em a go though, but with a little more protective gear than the guy in the video

I have Flight Fins on mine, which are like bindings that you can slip your feet under so you don't disconnect from the board if you catch air. You can actually jump up in the air with them and keep the board attached to you, so you can hop up curbs or over big roots. FlightFins are for more advanced riders. You slip your feet out from under them if you need to bail. Landing on one wheel is not easy, so catching air is next level. The wheel rotates in whatever direction the board is tilting - if you catch air (which is rare, except on drops) and remain level (which is required to land), the wheel doesn't rotate much at all, If you're off balance or tilting the board, it will spin in the direction it is tilting.

It's my goal to have at least one OW rider at every trail maintenance day. We will have 3 OWs coming tomorrow to help out at Brushy Creek, so keep that in mind if you see an opportunity to put us to good use. No need to purchase, we will be there!

LOL- I'm glad you liked it! The current model is the XR and is all you could ever want in a trail riding beast- the motor is 750 watts and meets the maximum allowed for an EPAMD, so they wont be making it any stronger - the battery gets 12 to 18 miles to a charge, which is plenty - I say buy now! lol I know you are probably just joking, but if you are serious, I have a friend who is a dealer in Dallas who gets me better prices than are legal to put in print. I have helped a few people get new OWs, and I'd be happy to help you get one too. If you are going to be at Brushy Creek tomorrow you can try mine out if you want.
