  1. I haven't ridden in a couple of months, but I started trail running again on D recently and noticed the same, seems like it got progressively worse in that short period... I thought maybe because I was running instead of riding, allowing me to see more of the problems from a different, slower perspective, but when I went on Saturday (unusual for me), I observed a lot of users that explained a lot...
  2. E-W; when I do it W-E, my music plays backwards.
  3. Yep, I have one and have been using it about a year, although I need to order new pads. With that said, it definitely feels a little better immediately after using it, but I can't say definitively that it has any effect on healing... but I use it just in case.
  4. Yea, got the tires installed a while back, but my "tennis elbow" has gotten worse and really doesn't like the throttle or brake,... 20 continuous minutes and my elbow is on fire. The other issue right now is time; between one of my busiest seasons in years (also not helping my tennis/golfers elbows) and trying to keep my new house moving, I'm in over my head.
  5. Pfft, yeah, probably a transplant from the Pacific NW. 😁
  6. Probably won't even recognize some of it.
  7. That's so awesome... the sad thing is that these days, if one of those kids falls and gets hurt, the property owner could get sued... I just don't know that I'd invite that.
  8. This line is what took my grin to a chuckle...
  9. I sent a couple of email and fb messages since my last post and still haven't heard back. Still enjoying the frame I have, aside from the minor issues mentioned previously. Keep in mind that his is a hardtail, so the static head angle changes with rider weight, depending on the amount of set sag and fork travel; the effective head angle becomes steeper (about 1.5* in my case). Likewise, the reach, seat tube angle and bottom bracket height change as well, so be careful not to compare to your 5010 (or any other FS for that matter), as it's a different beast. The online design software that he uses (www.bikecad.ca) allows you to account for this and to see the effects of different forks and sag. Same here, I optimize for the trails I *like* to ride most, not necessarily the ones I actually ride most... so when I go to AZ/NM/CO/UT, I'm not wishing for another bike. With that said, both of my bikes work pretty darned well for what and how I ride around here; I really wouldn't change anything.
  10. FYI, I had to replace the PicnicX log again last night, and of course Snaggle had been knocked down again.... I'm really getting irritated with these idiots.
  11. That's the way I carry mine on each bike; one on the back, always there when I need it, mostly when tweaking pressures with the compressor before leaving the house. Thought I would get in a ride before the rains, but apparently so did everyone else. Trails were packed this evening. I went OTB at the beginning of my ride; dropped into PX, went under the bridge, up the bank on the left to dip back across the creek, and on the downside met another guy coming in the opposite direction... went OTB trying to avoid the head-on dropping in. Banged up my thigh and bad wrist while taking a rock into my lower back... it's a Whiskey night, for sure. Then, on PX proper, passed never-ending group ride... everyone was pretty cool as we made room to pass each other, but shortly after that a newb came peddling as hard as he could toward me... I moved over make room expecting him to do the same... but he didn't... he held the center line and we came fist-to-fist... Didn't affect me much so I almost didn't even turn around, but when I did, I saw that it separated him from his bike and sent both flying into the trees, lol. Poor kid was dazzed... The rest was a sweatfest and an exercise in avoiding other riders; I think I'm done for the summer. Y'all have fun.
  12. I've been meaning to ask the same...
  13. So what can you buy these days with $1500? Apparently a 25 year old DBR Vertex with a clapped-out Manitou Comp... "one of the highest acclaimed Diamondbacks ever made" https://austin.craigslist.org/bik/d/elgin-diamondback-racing-manitou/7143711936.html It's "Super light, Superfast, Super smooth", and he guarantees "that you've never in your life riden a bicycle that feels like this. It's an amazing experience."
  14. How was Ruidoso? Just driving through, that area seems like it would be ripe for some killer trails, but all I've been able to find are flow-type trails. Some time on Google and Youtube reveals that there used to be a couple of good ones, but a forest fire wiped them out years ago.
  15. I rode yesterday and today (I know, right?!), and I was sweating a lot more at the end of my ride today even though I started earlier... the humidity is creeping back in...
  16. Give it time and adjust your technique. I rode clipless for about 25 years, then experimented with flats on my FS bike, while keeping clipless on my singlspeed (because cheating makes SS easier). I almost switched back a couple of times in the beginning because of all of my long-ingrained lazy habits, but after a few months and some adjusting I realized I reached a point where could do everything on my flats that could on clipless, and then some, so I switched them on the SS too. That was about 5 years ago.
  17. Same here. I was pretty much ready to park the bike for the summer, but it looks like I'll get to squeeze out a couple more rides before the steam takes over.
  18. Bingo. I lived in Mesa for a few years after growing up in Huntsville and Houston, then moved back to Austin in August... then visited my parents in Houston a couple weeks later... it was an eye-opener. Preheat your oven to about 200, then run your dishwasher to the dry cycle, then open each with your face near the opening... Feel the same? Nope, there's your difference. Summer humidity in Phoenix is usually below 10%, and I've seen the "feels like" go backward below 5%... "real feel", lol.
  19. I'd rather ride when it is actually 104, after the humidity has burned off. There's no such thing as "real feel" or "feels like"; only hot, gross, or hot and gross.
  20. There have been several discussions here and on Mojo about "flow", usually started by people complaining that a trail or trail feature does not... I've always maintained that much flow comes from the rider and how they read and work the trail, and not necessarily from the trail builder, and if you are expecting the trail to provide the flow, you are doing it wrong and missing out. This video presents a profound analogy of reading a trail like reading music... It's not on Youtube though, so not sure if this will embed GMBN on fb
  21. E>W, around 9. I also noticed that there seemed to be some new bigger, loose rocks on the descent after it (toward RDB), almost as if someone chucked some of the rocks from Snaggle down the trail...
  22. I did rebuild it at that time, and it was well engineered (I test and retest by both riding and jumping around on it to make sure nothing will move), but that was a couple of weeks ago and it has changed several times since. I went over it this morning and it was a bit scattered, I didn't go back to mess with it this time though.
  23. I tried checking in a couple of times earlier in the year and stopped getting responses via email (he had an assistant or someone responding to emails for a little while), then I tried checking in via Facebook right after the virus hit and a few days later got this response: "really so sorry , your new frame its ready, only need put cable guides and paint, but now all flight are cancell for 15 days, im working alone in house, but my 4 employees rest in houses" So I'll try again this week and see if anything has changed.
