Any recommendations for a rear blinky light ?

We're moving soon and my daily rides will involve more rural roads and gravel. I get concerned with cars come up from behind me, so a solid rear blinky gives me slightly more peace.

I've talked to a few road riders who WILL NOT RIDE country roads without the rear radar system that alerts them to oncoming traffic.  It's worth it just to not be surprised.

  2. Jack Brooks is also meh.  I hear that there are some cool trails going in around Cypress.  Of course, don't expect rocks or elevation but with enough energy and vision, good trails can be built pretty much anywhere.

I was looking for you. But yeah, sorry, R&I is dead.

Edit to add: So come to the Celis ride instead!

I think it's great how the start/end brewery changed based on the service they provided to the group.  That's voting with your wallet.  Well done!

Yeah, I gotta learn not to try to chase you guys on a singlespeed. Strava did tell me I had 12 or 13 PRs yesterday, but I was totally beat at the end.

You were moving!  The right gearing at Walnut is fast as long as your legs can push it.

  5. With this rain, we should have great dirt for digging on Saturday.  Features like the jump on outer log loop, the berms on windy, the rollers on inner log loop are all a result of work days like this.  If you ride Walnut (and I know that most of us do), come and dig!  It's fun and there won't be many trails dry enough to ride this weekend anyway.

You can go to the bottom and change the theme.

Invision is uglier, but has buttons, there is also the dark theme that seems to have them.

    Super helpful.  Thanks man!

Let me take a look, I may need to install a new version of the Tapatalk plugin.  I rarely use it myself, and I forgot to check after updating the forum.  Will get that done today.

Stopped working for me as well.  I tried to re-login and it won't accept my password or login info.

I'm also having a problem with the text color on the bottom of the page.  Not a big deal but I can't figure out how to adjust it from my end.

  8. Bend is freaking awesome
    (if you can afford)

And yes, PNW can get redneck real fast. California is no different

I’ve lived all over Texas including Beaumont and I’ve never seen anywhere as red neck as Washington state. You get outside of Seattle and it’s full on “Let’s shoot this old TV with a machine gun in the side of the road” red neck. Freaking crazy.

  9. I like all the beer styles and I lean a lot more toward the Belgians than anything else...but there's a time and a place for most of those beers.  Beers should only be judged against their peers, not overall.  It used to be that at beer advocate anything that wasn't a Belgian had no chance at great reviews.  I wonder if it's swung toward IPAs now?  In any case, sometimes a Modelo Especial is the perfect beer, sometimes an IPA is (and I have maybe 8-10 I like and the rest are not original at all), even a sour (very picky on those) has its place.  For sure I don't want to be drinking heavy and dark beers on a boat trip or beach trip, and I wouldn't want to be drinking Modelo Especial camping in the cool weather.

There is wisdom here. I drink beer for the experience 99% of the time. A cold Miller Lite on the beach or a Dos Equis with a lime after mowing the yard is a great experience. Horses for courses. I just struggle to find the right course for an IPA but if that was what I had in the cooler, I’d drink it.

    BUMP

I'm not fully committed to this right now, but I would like to gather what the interest might be?  Every year, I've done the Dragon Slayer, I've put on this unofficial pre-ride on Labor Day.....well I'm sorta thinking about do DS again.  @Barry @knifezilla @512  Can we get the OG gang back together on Monday?

    ??????

    Later,

You guys shooting for a sub-3 hour lap time or a Dragon Slayer 3-lap pace?  Note that these are not the same thing for most of us!

  11. Good points.  Heavier bikes are harder to move around in the air when things go sideways (on purpose or not).  However, they should be able to put a very small battery on these things because you aren't going to go miles and miles.  If it's just a big heavy monstrosity, it's going to break and is dumb.  What might be interesting is if you could put a battery/motor on a DJ bike that you could take off once you get to the jumps.  I suppose there are some situations where the jumps take a ride to reach.  Nothing worse than trying to pedal a DJ bike a couple of miles standing up the whole time.

  12. Something I love when I ride is the smells of people cooking. Smells going through the woods as I ride through.
Over by SN behind the Italian place.. smelling the garlic bread type of smell is awesome to me.

Riding through that neighborhood between Brushy and SN around 4:30 or 5 pm is a parade of awesome smells. There are a lot of Indian families living in there and the smells from those kitchens are amazing.
