Is this an issue with physically crossing the creek, or an issue with finding available space on each side in order to cross? Just curious.

This is a city requirement of no adverse impact on private property in the flood plain issue. We have a design and a selection of locations, it's just a watershed issue now. We are working on mitigation options, but there are not many as the floodplain is so low right there.

Some substantial footings are going in for a bridge across Walnut, and the pathway has been cleared under Lamar heading eastbound. I guess it will follow the creek east until the point where it crosses under I-35. This is a view pointing due east - that's the Lamar bridge across Walnut.

The trail will currently end at the Walnut Bluffs Trailhead, as we cannot find a way across the creek from there. I'm working hard on it, but connecting to ih35 is many years away. Shortly the city will be adding a bike/ped lane on the Lamar bridge that will get you over to Walnut Park Crossing and TCEQ/Girl Scouts/Park35.

    It's happening. Slowly.

That's the problem right there.  How would you navigate from the end of the SWCT over to north WC?

This week the city will finalize a contract with a design firm to design the trail from SWCT up to across 35 from tceq/Girl Scouts. We are hoping to go to construction on a large swath within the next two years. I'm the city PM for the project so i've got all the inside baseball.

We will do a lot of new stuff (trail in the MoKan corridor, and along the west edge of pioneer farms), but there is a route that would parallel our route on existing roads. Not generally safe for the all ages all abilities crowd, but it's all ridable now for an experienced rider.

  4. I think you are getting close but not mandatory yet. Some of the guys I ride with are down in the 13-14psi range.

That said, it doesn't hurt to run them. I picked up some Rimpact for fairly cheap front Hunt Bikes online and have been happy. Alternatively, I built a jig and a bunch of my bikes are running pool noodle rim protectors.

Tubeless NOOB question. How low of a pressure do I need to worry about needing some sort of insert? I've been experimenting with pressures. Since getting the new bike. I'm currently in the high teens (18-19psi) but might try lower.

Depends on rim width and tire size.

Detailed info about the EB is not going to be posted on a public forum. It won't kill you to create a FB account solely to join the EB group, where you can find the info you seek.

Why? Isn't the point of the EB to ride a bunch of legal trails? Why not post stuff about it?

  7. Looking for a swing out adapter for my rear hitch. Ideally looking for a Kuat Pivot 2 or a Rakattach. But open if people have anything else collecting dust. Needs to be just the swing, not a whole bike rack that swings.

don't know anything about swing arms... but we were just in moab, and saw a bunch of campers with a tray mounted on each side. thought it was a pretty ideal solution.

I initially wanted to do that with my current truck, but never got around to it. I suppose I could give it a shot on the new truck instead. Some of it comes down to the type of edge the cap has. Fiberglass caps normally have a lip at the edge which makes the mount a bit tougher to setup (that is what held me back previously), but on the new truck/cap, it is a steel cap, with no lip, so might be easier. I just worry about overall height and width. It's a big new truck.

  9. I'm getting a new truck and hoping to use it to do more camping. I will be running a shell on the back, but most times will transport bikes back there as well. But for some trips I'll want to use a receiver hitch rack. Currently I have a Kuat NV 2.0. But I'd like to have a swing out so I can actually use the truck when bikes are on the rack (the tilt function is fine for loading, but you can't tailgate).

Anyone have experience with any of the add on swing outs? The one thing I don't like about any of them is they raise the rack by 2-4 inches and they push it all back out from the bumper by another 6-12". Wondering about some of the options that are swing out platforms, which I could then mount tray racks to. Or pull the trays and run it with a cooler/grill for other trips.

Rack attach seems like the nicest option, but as with all things 1UP, is pricey. The other stuff is probably equivalent. They all see to have the same weight ratings. Eventually I could see running a dirt bike back there too.

    So what says you?

I recommend Finding a 24" hotrock frame and Building one! It's lots of fun

If you go this route, I found wheels to be the hardest to find. So I built wheels up for my son's 24" bike. Rims were then the hardest thing to get. There are some Aliexpress options, which others have had good luck with.

  11. Alright, spent the weekend on a little garage bike project. Still some parts waiting to come in to finish, but mostly there and the clean up.

These hooks from Park work perfect with the Paul’s 2 wheel trolly

and hold a 2.4” tire well

Going up a size with Park –

These hold a 3” tire no problem and are slightly larger all around. For these I recommend the Paul’s 4 wheel trolly.

If you order from Paul, let him know in the comments you are using the Park hooks. For the 2 wheel medium duty trolly, you need the hole opened up a tiny bit to fit an M8-1.25. For the 4 wheel trolly you need the hole tapped for an M10-1.5.

Thanks to @AntonioGG for the lead on the trolleys. All said and done I will have two fixed hooks (larger size) on the outside edges, and 7 sliding hooks in between. This is on an 8' length of strut. Correctly hung and slid together, I can get the 4 bikes on right now (while I wait on more trolley and hooks) into a 3' space. Added bonus the kids kayaks are up and out of the way, as well as my bins of used bits.

  12. Externally routed 27.2 dropper with a tiny bit of suspension (on purpose not because it is failing). Quick and smooth action.

I bought this to try a dropper on my old Ventana/TrueFab frame. I like it, but found I just don't use dropper that much on that bike so passing it on. FB and CL for a little more, but $50 here. Includes remote.

  14. Cody and the TF gang ran an internal line for my brakes back in 2008 on my SS. Only in the top tube, but I love not worrying about it snagging on anything. Easy to thread, but kinda hard to pull the line through. I think I went through two aftermarket brake line companies to find one that was thin enough.

Not exactly XC light and a bit warmer but I’ve been wearing Shimano enduro style ME-7’s for a few years for this reason. Too many slips and ankle twists on 20 years of Sidi Dominators. Mine have a easy to walk in Michelin sole and there’s a neoprene cuff that keeps 100 % of all dirt/gravel from getting in the shoe.

There’s a lower cuff boa version the me5 I think.

ME5 is what I picked up as a stop gap shoe when my specialized would not take any more shoeGlu. They are thicker and warmer for sure, not a thin, barely there shoe. They walk REALLY well, super comfortable in that regard. But maybe not as stiff as I would like. I'll keep them as backup for sure, will keep looking for the right all the time shoe.

What about toe box height @Teamsloan

    That's my problem usually.

I would love to be able to wear Shimano shoes b/c I think they are high quality and a good price compared to Specialized, but the toe box is not high enough.  I'm set on shoes for a couple of years, but always willing to learn.

The recon3 has an enormous toe box. Tall and square. They felt like great shoes just too boxy in the toe for my narrow feet.

I bought a set of Shimano from the rei garage sale and they are holding me over, but are not as nice as the specialized.

My big problem is I have long and narrow feet, so on my old specialized pro and my current Shimano, the boa is basically full pull and I wish it could go tighter. I need to look for a something more like a running shoe where the laces cross the top of the foot. All these flaps over the top end up not being tight enough.
