  1. I've done the opposite of this, started at BCGB, then hit a bunch of stuff in SATN, then made my way back north to where I parked. I would not want to do that this time of year, though. Once it starts cooling down again...
  2. I've ridden some of the trails west and south of Dick Nichols, but I don't know the area very well. I wonder how much mileage total there is in the SATN network of trails. 🙂 ..Al
  3. Saturday and Sunday mornings are best for me, since I have to come down from Round Rock and not dealing with traffic is a big plus.
  4. The group rides certainly help, as I otherwise don't have a general sense of what trails people are riding or what they are called. It is true that when following others it's easier to forget where to turn if you later go back by yourself, which is why riding them several times with others helps. I have learned some trails down there on my own, but in some areas where there are many trail intersections it becomes more confusing. ..Al
  5. Yes, thank you mack_turtle for the tour! Saw lots of new trail I had never ridden before, and it's just incredible how much trail is down there and how interconnected everything is. There's no way I'd be able to follow that same route without making a ton of wrong turns and backtracking. I need to make an effort to get down there more often for group rides, as that's the only way I'm really going to learn the trails. ..Al
  6. Man, I wish I was going to be in town for this, as I'd love to partake and do all three routes.. Sounds like it'll be a ton of fun!
  7. Yeah, I've been starting most of my rides even before 8am to avoid the ridiculous heat. Humidity can sometimes supremely suck those first few hours, though! I'd be glad to join you at 8am. Would be fun to ride many of the trails out there I haven't seen in a while (and probably stuff I've never seen at all). ..Al
  8. How early and how well do you know the trails? I am interested. I didn't get out to ride today as I had hoped to. I know some of the trails, but it would be a small "some" relative to everything that's out there (I have a 20 mile loop that I do starting at Dick Nichols, which includes Slaughter Creek, Boneyard, and the trails northwest of Boneyard that meet up with Mopac). ..Al
  9. You don't need a dropper to roll that.
  10. Went out to Brushy this evening, car said it was 102 when I started at 6pm and 90 when I finished at 8pm. Not sure I believe that, but it was rather hot. Not humid, though, which was nice! I would have stayed out longer, but my light mount appears to have fallen off my handlebars, maybe it was loose and came off at 80mph on 45. So I had to abort on doing any of Deception and Snail. There was almost nobody on the trails, which is understandable given the heat, of course. Did start to see more people as it got later (and cooler). At one point when I was in Peddlers it started getting quite windy very rapidly, like an outflow boundary or something.. That was quite weird! The post at the entry looks great! @HoneyBadger Did you actually plant the cactus there? Look forward to seeing more!
  11. I bet you'll be seeing more posts about more posts soon and then maybe see the posts in person and you can then post again about the posts!
  12. Good, so if I hit it coming out of the trail when I'm weary in 105 degree heat, it's not going to budge!
  13. I knew that was, uhhrr, coming.
  14. Holy crap, that thing is huge! Looks fantastic! How deep were you able to get it in the ground? Is it cemented in place?
  15. I'm generally more confident climbing than descending. It's a bit sketchy going down, and I haven't ridden it in a while. Not since I discovered the trail that sits above Gnargasm and heads back to Snow White--so I almost always ride that now after I complete Gnagasm, then drop back down to the bridge and ride that trail opposite Champion Park before heading over the dam. Your photos make me want to try riding up it, though! ..Al
  16. Great photos! I've never thought about riding up that ramp on Gnargasm until now! :D ..Al
  17. It's going to happen, it's near impossible to stop them from sometimes getting through. Just report them and I'll take care of them as soon as I see the reports (or I see the bots myself). I do have third-party software installed that catches most of the bots, but it's never going to catch 100% of them. Unfortunately I was gone for a while today and wasn't able to nuke that particular bot and delete their posts until now. ..Al
