  1. Be gentle, I’m on mobile. The crudely drawn black line would have been the path to the rollers. It’s not super visible right now, I’ve just ridden it so many times it’s habit.
  2. I didn’t see any re routes on the two laps I did, but now that the construction material is gone (those brown straw tubes) I could see how anyone could come from the west side, go straight across the paved path and end peddlers instead of taking that left.
  3. I don't think there was any length change at all, the original route was followed and enhanced. The only turn that changed a noticeable amount was the last down hill section into a berm that was very close to the area that floods. That turn was straightened out and runs closer to the entrance trail so its up away from the flood waters. The "save the trees" segment still registers on Strava, and while that isn't the most accurate measure, I still think it shows the trail route has mostly stayed the same.
  4. That all makes sense. I certainly wouldn't want to create more maintenance than it would already need.
  5. How much would purchasing the dirt run? I agree the city probably wouldn't even consider, but I'm curious what the ball park number would be. I could refine it more and ask what the bottom dollar would be for the sections that would need it most, and not just covering the entire west side.
  6. It’s a totally new trail. Just the parts I’ve walked are almost unrecognizable. I can’t wait to ride it either.
  7. Got a regional trail ride in and stopped by peddlers (on foot). I got to meet Brett who is out there working with the heavy machines today, but hand work was impossible since it was just a sticky, muddy mess. The rollers east had tons of water and I started bailing with the shovel, but was getting nowhere.....the bucket has eluded my search thus far. Maybe the rain will hold off so the trails can so some drying.
  8. Yeah me too....maybe in June. 😬
  9. If they are, you may want to park on Dodge Cattle or the 183 bridge since the water was still up over the regional trail yesterday around noon. I'm not sure it's had enough time to drain down to be passable yet.
  10. I’m so disappointed I’m going to miss both of these days. I think there’s a small chance I can make the 4th, but it’s an outside chance since I’m traveling. Thank you in advance for those that are helping get the trail in race shape.
  11. My first bike was a fs 29 based on some biking friend recommendations and while I love that bike and I’m very comfortable, a year ago I bought a Salsa Timberjack 27.5. I found quite a few riding flaws I had by learning on the fs and love riding that bike. I’ve changed out the hub, tires, and cut down the bars just a bit, but otherwise I like it a lot.
  12. How does this rain affect the machine build? I realize they aren't out there right now while it's storming, but do they have to wait for the trail to dry some before proceeding? -Scott
  13. In case anyone wants to see their progress, they are good about updating their Instagram account. komtrails is the name, and there is a video of progression even from the pics HoneyBadger posted. -Scott
  14. Can we make this an ever lasting rule beyond just race day?
  15. The guy that runs the twitter feed is out of town right now. I took a stroll in my backyard that backs up to the trails and the ground is very soft, even with direct sun and wind help. My educated guess would be there is potential for 1/4 notch and double down by tomorrow afternoon, but trails like picnic and peddlers will need more time. There wasn’t a ton of rain Friday night or Saturday morning, but there was a big water drop around noon that was very heavy and very quick. This makes me think the main parts of the trail will dry but low lying areas will need time and sun.
  16. Yes, but also no. Same trail Ronan has built, but improved in areas. Same turns, tree gates and obstacles he previously built, but improvements to flow and drainage. For your thread on time trails there will be different times after the improvements, but still the same segment. I like the discussion in that thread, thank you for creating it. -Scott
  17. Sorry to hear people stuff is getting stolen. You’re welcome to park at my house as well, but it’s a small regional trail ride compared to where you normally park.
  18. It seems obtaining a tandem that is suitable for riding is the main hurdle to everyone entering. If the group is able to get one up and running, would it be a potential for multiple teams to use the same bike to fill out the category? This might also work for one of those ones listed on Craiglist if a bunch of people all went in an bought one. Thoughts? -Scott
  19. Hey @First-Blood there’s some motivation for you. I’m excited about racing, but I sure want to spectate the hell out of the tandem division.
  20. Only did 1 lap yesterday afternoon after a workout in the morning so my legs were sore, but I was happy with 18:50. On a Strava note, in case anyone else has this issue, the segment was not showing up for me on the app, but others could see that I had completed the segment. I had to go on my laptop to the Strava site and look at my ride. I scrolled past the segments and clicked "show hidden segments". Peddler's Pass 4.0 was in there and now that I clicked "unhide" the segment now shows up on the app. Hope that helps others that are trying to see their times but it isn't showing up. Scott
  21. Well Crap! It was full while it lasted.....for 1 post. I'll just have to do what Ronan says and improve technique and fitness.
  22. I'll bask in the glory of showing up in the top 10 while it lasts.....since I'm right at the 10 mark. I'll have to admit I was trying to feel out the east side direction change on that 24 minute lap, but I was able to set a PR on the west side that day. Certainly not close to the pace of Todd and Ronan, but I'm happy with my progress. I've registered and I'm ready to go. I won't be winning any prizes, but I'm sure looking forward to the entire experience. Scott
  23. Better late than never? Guess the guy in charge showed up.....now that it’s mostly done.
  24. my hope from this thread: awesome trail builders unite! I’ve learned so much about trail building and maintenance from many on this thread, I can only dream of what could be built by those with many years of experience through cooperation. -Scott
  25. I rode by this morning and, despite their best efforts of not putting up barriers, nobody seems to have rode/walked on the new section to leave marks. They still have quite a bit to go, so there is still a very good chance they will have the opportunity to redo a section. I’m baffled after the first incident they didn’t buy a roll of yellow or orange tape to at least attempt a barrier, it seems like the simplest form of common sense.
