  1. Ah, yeah that makes sense now, I automatically read it with the tone of what is typically from an e-pot-stirrer.
  2. Apples ≠ oranges, and a missing arm wouldn't benefit from an e-bike anyway, unless it's an e-arm trike. I don't give a rat's arse what "some people" might call me. In fact, a small part of the appeal of an e-bike would be to trigger the twisted-panty types.
  3. Has nothing to do with simplification, but everything to do with just enjoying the ride again. Joint, tendon and asthma issues over the last couple of years have me to the point where my body can only handle one, sometimes 2 rides per week... and that's during a "good" period. My rides have become more about getting through it, rather than enjoying it... It would be really nice to be able to focus on enjoyment again, rather than "embracing the suck" and enduring pain. The ability to enjoy the climbs has long passed, and now I'm getting to the point where I'm so spent after the climbs, that I can't even enjoy the descents...
  4. Yeah, that was tongue-in-cheek... but I did get out yesterday (Wednesday) morning, and Rim, DD, Picnic/PX and 1/4 were better than GTG, although the usual splashy spots were "extra splashy"... Just a few years ago, I didn't either... but lately, on the downhill-trajectory toward 50, it's starting to make lots more sense...
  5. Or JB Weld a cheap dropper, problem solved. 19" 29er trials... might make it the next "big" thing... All that said, $385 for a damaged lower-end bike is dreamin'...
  6. Anyone know what the trail conditions are at Brushy? I feel like going for a ride...😏
  7. So, I went OTB today... but in a way that I've never experienced in 32 years of MTB'ing. I did my usual up-shift-and-charge at Satellite for the drop, passing by the split cedar branch on the left thinking I was safely clear, but apparently, not quite. Something on my bike grabbed the end of it while I passed, and I felt like Wile E Coyote hitting a rubber band at speed, except instead of being flung back the direction I came, only the bike was; I continued in a forward trajectory. It's a shame there were no bystanders, because I'm sure it would have been a hoot to watch (seems like there're always people stopped these days, usually at the bottom of the drop LOL)
  8. Well, I've tried contacting them a few more times, to no avail. I noticed that they have a fancy new website and found that they have a second email address in addition to the "order" address, so I sent another email to both addresses, but this time from a different email than I was using before, just in case the other one was getting caught by a spam filter. The last I heard from Marino (back in October), shipping was halted due to COVID, but that shouldn't be a problem anymore. Maybe I'll point him to this thread and show him that there is interest in his frames here in Austin... Edit: I re-activated my fb account to message him (that's where I last exchanged with him) and shared a link to this thread, maybe that will shake things up a little.
  9. They just think the ibex are after salt, but they're really just 'earning turns'...
  10. Pfft, screw the red then, be a man, paint them pink!
  11. Ooohh... I thought the pink was for the wife's build! I'm not a big fan of "murdered" black bikes because it seems like everyone has one... but this, with the fork statement is just AWESOME.
  12. I actually thought about hitting you up, but I didn't want to get up before 8 😛
  13. What does a clean bike (post-ride) say? It says, "go get some before it rains again!" Conditions are perfect, but they won't be tomorrow...
  14. I was kind of thinking the same thing, or maybe someone's trying to help by dragging out all the stuff that Moralice, Skyyhorn and I cut...? That's probably not even half of it.
  15. RAD! Forget the wife, I'd rock those. I had a GT Pro Freestyle Tour that color...
  16. Uhhh... what just happened? lol
  17. I think that's what most people think an "e-bike" is... but, how much fun would that thing be on a MTB trail?! I must say though, as a moto rider, that sound is less than inspiring.

  20. That hair appears to have a more than adequate crumple zone. I would be none too happy if that was my blue car at 0:12...
  21. I was thinking more along the lines of clearing any lay-downs, down limbs, and around the snapped trees, so that there is less work for the crews to access, that way they can focus on the tasks that require multiple people.
  22. I was pondering the same thing... I have brushless chain saws and could possibly help make a dent, but with 2 busy businesses and trying to finish building our house, any "spare" time that comes up is more random and unpredictable, to say the least. So, it would be one of those situations where I suddenly find myself with a couple hours to spare and can run out and go to town on a few trees.
  23. I haven't ridden there in well over a year, but when I did it was during the week, mid day, and I always encountered walkers. During the summer there are kids that play on the trails unsupervised. We have several friends that live in The Highlands, Grand Mesa, The Fairways and Cap Rock; they all use the trails, some of them attend HOA meetings, and all of them, knowing that I used to ride there (I have ridden with some of them), the topic of the trails and controversy has come up on many occasions. I don't know anyone in Travisso (the west end), but I'd imagine that their situation is similar. It's not so much about being nice or courteous, it's just the amount of bike traffic that has increased in the past year or so, and people parking in the neighborhood streets. It is becoming evident that there are more mountain bikers using the trails than live in the HOA... I live just a short pedal away (less than a mile), and even though I didn't park there, I've still stopped riding there. The bottom line is that it is private property and is posted as such, and people are noticing the increased traffic. It didn't bother me to ride there early-on, because at the time, few HOA residents even knew about the trails, and very few riders outside of the area knew about them either (and I had been riding there since before any of these neighborhoods existed). But, that has changed.
  24. (in my best British accent)... "And now for something completely different"... Gah, that was so friggin awesome... that one chick with the thighs on the 4cyl 4stroke was my favorite though.
