  1. Several of you have expressed a desire to help out, but have too many time constraints. I would LOVE to extend the jump line over Memorial Day weekend. If any wants to help this effort, it would be a HUGE help if a couple of you could make lumber runs. We really need 2x12s (at least 10' long, but 8' will work for the smaller ramps) 2x6s and 2x4s. Any help is greatly appreciated!
  2. Another post donation turned up for us today, so Josh can take first dibs - love to see new stuff popping up all over. If he can't use it all, I'll take whatever is left over.
  3. No. Joke. My Double is 10 years old and I need a new slope bike. This class is already a niche, and with everything going on, you can't find one to save your life. Finally had to get a friend in the UK to grab me a Canyon Stitched 720 and send it over:
  4. Don't want to snake on the Brushy guys - they get first dibs - but we could use them at the church trails
  5. No, that's not intermediate. It's rated as a double-black in Whistler and I've seen at least one nasty injury on it. But honestly, like most of the bigger features, it's actually easy to ride if you just let go and go. Getting over your psychology is the biggest hurdle. I'm thinking about putting similar, but smaller, features on the intermediate line so folks can work their way up without being overly terrified.
  6. And this to come. Probably the shortest trail in Whistler (it's really an offshoot from A-Line) but my FAVORITE! We just got notified that our typical summer in Whistler is off due to the border not reopening because of the CHICOM-19 virus. Guess we'll just have to build it here! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSJkLxVKsBA
  7. So - We have a totally ambitious Eagle Scout who wants to do a project at the trails. This is great news. We're going to do something totally unique to Cedar Park: an intermediate slopestyle trail. For those of you who have been to our park at RHR, think Slingshot. Anyway, for all of you who have asked, :How can we help?" this is the time. He will be looking for donations, time, etc. Any help to grow new trail would be appreciated. Or do you want new trail?
  8. Huh. TBH, I've mostly ignored you, because your posts never made sense to me. Same thing here. Just what in the heck are you trying to say?
  9. Huh. Interesting discussion. Then again, nothing new under the sun: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6jioIvjzOQ And why would dissenting opinions be banned? Shouldn't "science" be all about dissenting opinions? Anyone ever hear of "peer-reviewed?" https://banned.video/watch?id=5eaa37893f456f004fd5595e
  10. Not finished to where I wanted it, but complete enough to ride. I found out that although that's on the church's property, the Alamo complex has an easement for drainage - thus I'm not going to put in too much effort over there. Then again, I'm questioning whether it'll make sense to build another Alamo in this brave new world . . .
  11. It's tight, but totally doable. I've only fell off twice on a 27.5 Banshee Rune. I'd say 50% of the riders clear it. I've solicited feedback on widening that turn: some want to keep it for the challenge, some would like it widened. At present, I leaning toward widening a bit for the 29r guys who seem to be the ones who struggle with it the most. I'm currently cheating a bit, as I pretty much only riding my 26" slopestyle bike out there😎
  12. It looks like he nose cased the on the case pad. Front was slowed down, but the rear still had plenty of momentum. Geometry of his bike doesn't look ideal, either.
  13. Yo! It's getting warmer and the trails are seeing a LOT more traffic. Many of you have asked how you can help out. It would be a HUGE help if you're seshing the jumps, to please water and sweep the berms and occasionally the landings. This will not only make your ride more enjoyable, but help maintain the line from erosion. There is a water tank up at the top and the watering cans are usually up at the top, or down by the last berm. There is also a broom down by the last berm as well. If there's interest, we can organize a dig day and cover jump line maintenance. Let me know!
  14. 2 ways I've used: 1. separate each cog with a screwdriver and remove individually 2. at the base of the teeth, GENTLY hammer the cogs loose

  16. Watching is going to be of minimal value. In my experience, the fastest and most helpful way to teach someone to jump is getting them proficient on a pumptrack. Learning to generate speed and momentum on curves will give you the skills to hit jumps - just a bigger curve. In the absence of a pumptrack, I'll use berms, but it's hard for folks to translate the proper technique on a horizontal curve to a vertical curve - but it's the same thing. We've planned to put in a pumptrack at the church for this exact reason, but . . . time, resources, money . . . you get the picture. And . . . DON'T jump clipless. It makes you lazy and instills really bad habits.
  17. Yep - we have a drop zone with 5 ladders ranging from ~2-3' up to 10'
  18. And since we're talking about drops, do make sure you get your speed right! I came into this drop too slow, cased, and . . . well, you'll see. I've had several years of redemption on that drop, but this one owned me and claimed my Fox 40: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7n2V-4PtT8
  19. FYI - the drop is currently closed, as we're reworking the landing to be steeper and more smooth. We've been challenged in getting a machine out there, so we decided to suck it up and do it by hand. We are also doubling the width of the landing so we can add a smaller drop so folks can start small and progress. As you can imagine, it's A LOT of rock and dirt to move, but we're doing our best. We've held off on building the entry until we get signs up notifying riders of the necessity of having a waiver on file with FR512, but we hope to get it done soon!
  20. No, no pics, obviously - DOD. But I get your point. We're building trail every day. Why don't you come out and contribute to the effort? We could use the help! If you came out every day, like we do, (assuming you know how to run a chainsaw, etc.) oh, man! We could knock it out. Send me pics of what you're doing. LOL.
