  1. Have you ever upgraded a boss-only frame to disc brakes? I've looked at the various adapters available and read feedback. They seem legit, just wondered if you had any experience with them.
  2. You know what tastes good... Victory. Victory tastes good. Far, far better than defeat. But defeat can be a good teacher... So there's some positive in that too.
  3. Interesting segue. And just to be sure... Health habits are important to mountain biking enjoyment.
  4. At the prices of bikes these days... I'm thinking one of these is a must have accessory... https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/bike-tracker-catching-thieves/
  5. Absolutely... Who knows, maybe even the carbon fiber stuff from F1 racing also. https://gearjunkie.com/trust-performance-message-front-suspension
  6. Here's an interesting short YouTube video on the evolution of downhill...
  7. Just watched this video and couldn't help thinking how much these riders have helped with the development of mtb suspension, and overall really, design. I know it's the rider, but looking at what the bike does under the rider is pretty incredible too... https://www.imbikemag.com/mountain-bike-news/2019/09/danny-harts-winning-run-snowshoe-dh-world-cup/
  8. Is it my imagination, or is theft of mtb bikes on the rise again here in Austin? This was posted on South Austin Trail Network Facebook page a couple hours ago...
  9. What can I say... Some folk just have to think that others do what perhaps they do. But... That's just another booger you simply remove and leave behind.
  10. No... Come on man... Shame on you to even think that. "Poof" = Put them in "ignore" mode. But not pretend "ignore"... Real "ignore". You were not one because you're not a troll... We've had useful exchanges in the past. I hope it stays that way.
  11. And... Just like that... "Poof"... Four boogers gone.
  12. Shit happens. What to do? Like riding... You fall... You get up... You dust yourself off... Get back on... And continue riding (if you can). And if you can continue riding... It's so important to not allow the fall to stick in your mind and become a distraction to you. It's just a booger... Remove it and move on. Nothing to see here folks. This is something that I thoroughly enjoy about Seth of Seth's Bike Hacks... He knows from his own experience that boogers in his nose will happen... But he doesn't allow these booger incidents to stop his moving forward and enjoying life. From a small home in South Florida, to a big home on lots of acres in the mountains of North Carolina... From one GoPro camera, to a whole production studio... Boogers be gone.
  13. Okay then... Let's start here... Overheads never sleep... Watch them like a hawk, and keep expenditure down. Don't fall into the catch-22 of trying and go after as much business as you can thinking... Only deal with what you can handle with excellent service... More business will come to you as a result. More business means more overheads, which, if you lose business can very quickly become a major problem. Keep costs down... Cashflow is king for small businesses. Small businesses have the ability to move more quickly than big businesses... But having cash available to do so is crucial... Don't spend because you think you can afford it... Spend based on profit return on expenditure. Marketing... Word of mouth is cheapest, and comes as a result of good service reputation... Signage is next... But properly executed signage... More on marketing... All your material needs to be consistent in order to have the most effective and lasting market impact. Although this tends to be more necessary for consumer facing businesses, it is also necessary with B-B businesses as it expresses a professional disposition. Proper marketing begins with proper marketing messaging. A website is great and important to have... But what people read/see on your website is what they come to it for. Business economy... Build a strong support base/foundation undergirding your daily business activity. The common path of a small business is fast growth in the first three years, and then even faster decline. This is usually a result of the owner's focus on gaining as much business as possible, and lack of focus on building and maintaining an infrastructure that is able to support this business growth. It's like building a bridge without support underneath it... You will get to a point when the entire thing will collapse. The need for this infrastructure is a bit of a two-edged sword... It's needed... But there is an expense to it... There is a very fine balance required... Which is why a good administrative manager is worth the money you pay them. But each situation is unique. There are many more matters needed to consider... But then you can become bogged down considering them and not going out and servicing your business... Which brings us to time management... Make sure you are doing what earns you profit... And that's PROFIT... Not just money... Big difference.
  14. And my work is done... I'll call it... "The Exposing of The Fools... One, Two, Three..."
  15. That's absolutely right, AustinBike. My father is 96 and has always had a regimen of hitting the bed around 9pm when he could. He was a commercial pilot for 35 years, so there were long transatlantic flights that threw his regimen off... But for the most part, that's what he followed... 9pm hit the bed... Up around 5:30am... Go for a three or four mile walk (up and down hills)... Come back have his coffee and breakfast, and read his newspapers... And always a nap of about two hours after lunch, which was always around 1pm. And a light, early dinner. And I know from my own experience that when I have a couple days of getting to bed by 10pm, I just feel better. Unfortunately though, I'm a bit of a night owl. Trying to change that though. All these things that are within our control can make such a difference to our overall health.
  16. And a bonus... From my little friend who loves to "...ignore..." me.
  17. I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to update my experience with my heart arrhythmia. As I indicated in an earlier comment, back around April I had to see a doctor about a heart arrhythmia problem that was becoming an ongoing issue. Although I've had on and off problems with heart arrhythmia for a couple of decades, finally getting to a point about ten years ago where I saw a cardiologist about it, after a scan and wearing a monitor for a few days, she just increased my dosage of metoprolol (a med I was already taking for high blood pressure) and within a year or so, the continual arrhythmia went away and I had only experienced an occasional event since. Some years ago, because of the risks associated with long term use of metoprolol, my doctor took me off it, replacing it with Losartan, which is a milder med for high blood pressure. Unfortunately the arrhythmia came back with a vengeance this February. I also have Type 2 diabetes, and in February my doctor changed one of my meds to a med called Trulicity... And within a couple of weeks I started having really intense arrhythmia again. My blood pressure would increase, and as this happened the arrhythmia would intensify. I was told that it might have to do with the Trulicity, but I should give it a chance. By April I was at the end of my rope waiting for things to subside and went and saw the cardiologist. He thought it was a node problem and didn't prescribe me anything right away for it. After another month I went back to see him and was prescribed metoprolol again. Metoprolol lowers your heart rate and he prescribed it because there seemed to be a correlation with the intensity of the arrhythmia and my having increased bold pressure levels. As much as I didn't want to have to resort to another medication (I see it as covering up the problem and not really dealing with it), the arrhythmia was really bad and I just wanted it to calm down. Fast forward... The metoprolol helped, but the arrhythmia didn't go away. Now during the months I had been taking Trulicity I had also noticed that my intestinal tract, including stomach, was having its own issues, and the intensity of the arrhythmia seemed connected to this. At the end of August I told my doctor that I was not going to continue taking Trulicity, and stopped doing so. Within ten days of me doing so my arrhythmia events/intensity decreased to almost stopping. And so had the burning type sensation I had in my gut. Are these two things linked? I was going to speak with my doctor about it when I go in for my quarterly visit... But then I took Aleve three days in a row (joint aches) and noticed that the burning in my gut was back... And my arrhythmia started up again... Not as intense as before, but definitely increased from where it had been for the ten or so days after stopping taking Trulicity. Now Trulicity is know to have bad effects on the intestinal tract... Great at lowering blood sugar... But side effects are not so good for some. Before taking Trulicity I'd never experienced any ongoing got problems. Some indigestion/heart burn now and then... But nothing like the constant irritation I had been experiencing since starting the Trulicity. Could there be a link between this gut irritation and the heart arrhythmia I'd been experiencing? Research is showing that there might just be. No doubt the Trulicity totally messed up my gut... I know this physically. And I think that taking the Aleve may have caused some irritation to an already sensitive problem, which is why the arrhythmia started up again after subsiding when I stopped taking the Trulicity. Man can these things get complicated. Anyway... I just thought that there may be a couple of folks out there that are struggling with a heart arrhythmia problem and that taking a look at intestinal issues might be helpful in figuring out how to deal with it.
  18. If you can make it, this might be helpful as well as the feedback of folks one this site... https://www.outerbike.com/bentonville-2019?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=fg8-outerbike-bentonville-bikeinterests-pr&utm_content=pivot&fbclid=IwAR20tTJR7OndZQtva9EoGubBzPoGtXolrTpwJC9jZluNhhzHOBoAnf-AE9s
