June Bug
Tuesday, June 11, 2024: Nice shower just happened in the WC neighborhood around 3:30 pm. Weather is unsettled and future radar looks like some nice t-storms later this afternoon and evening. On the plus side, temps have dropped into the relatively tolerable range. AustinBike
We were there doing trail work to clear out the area along the maintenance shed and the rock bridge. Ended up getting pretty wet and muddy.
AntonioGG
Y'all missed the excitement last night. Someone driving on the park road shot a gun 6-7 times. 3 of us left at 10:15, we high-tailed it out of there.

TheX
Ammo is pretty expensive these days. Gotta picky about who we light up. Haha, I have a Savage 110 Stealth Evo sniper rifle chambered in 338 Lapua Magnum. $7.50 per round.
AustinBike
Apparently everyone in Austin couldn't bother to ride because of the weather. Out in Ventura County the weather was in the 80's and I managed to ride with an old R&I compadre that is living out here now, Bart Bombay. Did about 28 miles and over 3000 feet of climbing, it was a great ride. We made a wrong turn and ended up with a nice Pacific Ocean view.

AustinBike
I am hoping to get another ride in with him before we leave. Logistics on this trip have been crazy. For so much time out here to relax our schedule is jammed.

The R&I has lived through the death of the Bike Mojo forum and will live through the death of this one. It was only two or three weeks ago we had chili dogs at the R&I.
AustinBike
You guys need to put the effort into it, it can't die. While my trails are off the charts great out here, the Thursday night post ride really sucks. My wife and I joke that the Strava PRs that everyone is bragging about is how fast they can down their beer and get rolling. I really miss 2+ hours of hanging out with everyone and having a beer, but that just never happens out here. This trail is closer to my house than Walnut was, actually probably closer than BCGB, it is one of our regular Thursday night ride locations: And I still carry a bit of Austin for the post-ride activities, even though there is never enough time for the beer to get warm before people are heading out: You can't see it, but the Pacific is right over those peaks, we're right above Malibu.

John, we'll be celebrating Dawn's birthday at the R&I today with Key Lime Cheesecake, key lime pie, banana bread, sausage, Debbie's potato salad and pickles, and Deak's Lecso among other things. It still happens, just not exactly like it used to. Also, I'm jealous of your riding.
