  1. I rode at Walnut Creek with my adult daughter (25) for the first time in a couple of years today. It was really fun though a little confusing with the construction. But I’ve always ridden there infrequently enough to get lost a time or two on every ride. And only a few days ago I managed to get a ride in with my son (22). It had been a hot second since I had ridden with either one of them so it has been a good week!

  3. Opened another 0.2 mi. section of organic, fresh-picked trail late yesterday. For RHR regulars, this new section is found as you approach Water 1 on the way out. After the second road crossing going up on singletrack, what was a short straight section now traipses about in the woods on both sides of that old trail before delivering riders to Water 1. It utilizes all but about ten feet of the old trail as well. Jimmy said that I really did a "McGyver" on it to get this result. This is the second expansion of Hard Boil. Signs coming soon. Paul is already choosing spots to put berms on it. Next on the agenda is bringing online the 1.5 mi. Karaway extension with a lot of corridor and tread work done in freezing weather last weekend by Tejas Trails volunteers. Paul started on the bridges yesterday and those should be completed soon. This trail could go live by next weekend.

  4. Yeah, I think a ring, chain and cassette would be a good idea.

  5. She looks pretty worn. If you grab the chain at the front of the ring and pull it away from the chainring you'll be able to get an idea of how worn it is. The chain should stay tight to the ring if you're able to see a gap between the chain and the ring it's probably time for a new one. You should also consider a new chain and cassette especially if it's really worn. On my last bike it was time for a new chain so when I installed the new chain I quickly realized that the chainring was toast. A worn chainring will try to suck a new chain up the backside of the ring. So I preceded to change the chainring only to find out my cassette was toast also as the new chain was trying to skip when pedaled.

  6. Only just saw this, for some reason - I was the sweep. Great to see Mr and Mrs June Bug (who gave me much needed water), plus cold brews from Ridenfools cool van after. Good times!
