  1. One of the alternate routes, that only adds 50 miles to the trip, goes right through Grand Junction and Fruita. I wonder how those areas are in late October.
  2. Alright, I changed the maximum width of embedded videos to 750 pixels, so it's more reasonable now. As for why some videos weren't embedding, I found two things: It seems videos using shorter "youtu.be" URLs do not embed. If you open such a video on YouTube, you can then get the normal YouTube.com URL and you should then be able to embed the video. Some videos cannot be embedded because the video's owner does not allow the video to be embedded on other websites I can't do anything about #2. When you attempt to embed such a video, the forum will show a brief message stating the video cannot be embedded. ..Al
  3. More information about this here: I like how you both used the word "lunatic".
  4. I'd really love to ride the entire thing again. If that's not an option, I'll probably try some other trails I've never ridden. Captain Ahab and Mag 7 would be new to me. Never been to any of those towns, will have to see how the weather will be towards the end of October. I think that's going to be one of the big deciding factors. Oh yeah, that would be fun! Some good suggestions so far, thanks! ..Al
  5. I'm driving up to Portland towards the end of next month, and would like to hit some mountain bike trails along the way and/or on the way back (maybe one on the way up, more leeway on my way back). Looking for some suggestions reasonably close to my route. I will be driving straight through Moab, so that's one option. Would love to do "The Whole Enchilada" again, but not sure if Burrow Pass will be open at that point. There's plenty of other trails I have not ridden in Moab, so open to suggestions there. I've also done the McKenzie River Trial in Blue River, Oregon a few times, which is amazing, so that's another possibility depending on conditions. And one year I stopped in Sun Valley, Idaho and rode some trails there. Here's the route: Thanks in advance for any suggestions. ..Al
  6. Would be good to have some signs there at all the entrances, since it's a pretty heavily ridden trail, is very easy to access from the BCRT, and has a higher-than-average percentage of dirt compared to many trails in our area. ..Al
  7. Sedona is wonderful, I've been there several times already. And you can drive north to Flagstaff as well, which is only an hour away.
  8. Looks great, thank you for starting all those threads!
  9. Yes, you can preview a post by clicking the small page icon in the editor toolbar, all the way on the right. ..Al
  10. I've never been up there and I've lived in Austin for 20 years. I may try to stop there while returning from a road trip to Portland next month.
  11. And here's a description of what happened with regards to the video,
  12. I saw this on reddit yesterday.. https://www.reddit.com/r/Austin/comments/9f558f/word_of_warning_if_you_visit_cedar_breaks_park_at/ Someone else had an encounter with her as well,
  13. Army Corps of Engineers posted an update about this a few hours ago:
  14. Yeah, there are assholes everywhere, unfortunately. ..Al
  15. If they continue to ride Deception without helmets on Walmart bikes, that problem is going to take care of itself.
  16. Some percentage of people will see them and ride in the correct direction. Others will see them and intentionally ride whatever way they want. And then there are people who are completely oblivious and won't pay attention to the signage at all. But they certainly do help for those who are cognizant of their surroundings. And the more who know, the more they can help educate others when they come across them. ..Al
  17. I agree that many people would ignore them, but some people would read them. And you could point out the signs if someone tries to feign ignorance or states that it's not posted anywhere. ..Al
  18. Great idea! I've created a new MTB Destinations forum. I'll look to see if there are any relevant threads to move into this new forum. Thanks, ..Al
  19. Too bad there aren't a few signs like this at the trailheads. ..Al
