I feel like we should start a pool to bet on it happening again since they don’t seem to want to use barriers. For those that are certain it will, we could go as far as to bet how many squares are included, whoever gets it right or the closest wins.

I would say whoever this person is experiencing an uptick in views, but there is no content.

I'm not defending the idiots that rode and walked on the concrete, but I'm really surprised they didn't at least put some barrier up. I wonder if they will fix it or leave it as a monument to stupidity set it stone.

Trails were in awesome condition the past three days, and it was a blast to ride all of them again. Thank you to the person that spent time working on 1/4 notch and the problem areas, it was a pleasant surprise to not have to hike a bike through those sections that had been abused. Thank you specifically to @Cafeend since I came across him at the end of his endeavor to repair sections on picnic and picnic x. Sadly I caught him at the end of his 4 hour endeavor and only helped with the last section that needed to be repaired.....he did some great work to many sections by himself. I’m so greatful to have this community of riders and builders that have created and maintained such a wonderful trail system. I hope the upcoming rain keeps people off the trails, and the repaired sections, to show appreciation of the hard work. - Scott

I saw that quote as well and if the CoA did mandate the trail be built as part of development I doubt they would be happy about the new fee. However, since there wasn’t any article or proof cited I would bet the CoA may not have the original agreement or a way to enforce it. After all, the trail was built, but I’m sure nothing stated it couldn’t have a fee. 🙄

I saw the reddit post earlier this morning and after reading those comments and the ones here I can see arguments for both sides. On one side, you have a trail that people like to use and now they can't (or have to pay a fee) which of course makes people mad. On the other hand, I can't say I would be super happy to keep paying to clean a trail because the users were littering. I would think the homeowners just got tired of it and this was the quickest solution. To relate it to our world of mountain biking, I can tell from the posts over the last 6 months how the people that are the most dedicated to trail building or trail maintenance are getting tired of fixing ruts when trails are ridden wet. I can't say that I blame them, but they are extremely dedicated folks that have a passion about trail building and will continue to march on (with the community's help), but those ordinary folks that just see $$ getting wasted are unlikely to be so forgiving. If it truly is private property (this was debated in that reddit post) then I would think it's their prerogative to do what they please with it. If one day the land owner of Cat Mountain decided to close it off I would be unhappy, but understand that isn't my property and I was simply a guest there. I sure wouldn't want to be the board of the community that decided to enact the fee once a local news station picks up the story. - Scott

Someone tell Seattle we don’t like their rain totals and we don’t have the soil for it. On a serious note, all the rollers/berms looked decent other than those last two. I also wasn’t sure the best place to throw the water since there was trail down hill, but throwing it slightly uphill seemed redundant.

What time were you out adjusting? I bailed the second set on the east side around 1:45. No other berms or rollers were holding water, but the trail was super wet and had some ruts. 😟

This is a wonderful idea. If anyone helps out, try and put the bucket back in the same place you found it so Ronan or others can find it next time. As a bonus for anyone that bails rollers, you also get to educate others about not riding wet trails. I've been on the west side bailing the rollers or berms and I was able to educate people on how the trail was to wet to ride.

I bought the camelbak lr4 and I’ve only used it once so far due to one design issue I haven’t found a solution to. (I also haven’t searched the web just yet so there could be a viable one). The specs say it fits up to a 40 inch waist, and while I’m not that out of shape, I’m probably closer to 36/37. The belt fits just fine, but the stock mouth piece holder is on one side of the pack from where the bladder straw comes out. I’m not even sure a 20 inch waist would be able to hook it into the holder since the bladder straw is pretty short. I’d be willing to bet there’s some sort of work around, but it seems pretty silly they would make the belt go to larger widths and not think about the placement of that straw holder. I do hope I can find a solution as I did like having the weight of my water lower which seemed to help with stability when riding.

Oh wow, that sounds like a bad crash. I hope the surgery goes well and his rehab gets him back riding soon.

I can’t believe it rained last night. Had a ride with a friend planned for rhr ranch Saturday but we changed it to Sunday based on the forecast. I did all my errands and crap Saturday and didn’t ride (he’s a stronger rider and I needed fresh legs) and now looks like I passed up a great day for a no ride day.

Final said it was an adult male in his 50’s, serious but not life threatening injuries. Sound anything like the people you saw?

According to twitter for ATCEMS they are extracting an injured person from around rim loop. It didn’t specifically say a bike rider, just an injured male on the bike trail. Hope it will be minor injuries after they get him out.

As long as it doesn't look crappy, could we put that "how ruts are created" diagram in the kiosks? I can't remember who posted it on here or what page it's on, but David has it on the twitter feed in past photos. I would think that pictures might get more views than words in those kiosks.

One spot was pictured by honey badger precious, the other he started to armor with rocks and it’s holding up well. On a Strava note, I’ve ridden peddlers 3.0 for 3 laps now and I can’t get Strava to recognize it. Strava always seems to do odd things for me so it could be some setting or me just not understanding. Anyone else able to get it to show up?

I rode 1/4 and other than a few trouble areas that I walked it was good. I went down the bailout before double down. It sure was nice to ride a trail again.

If the city/county are ok with signs it might be a good idea to place one on the main trail near the 1/4 notch bailout. Looks like there was recent dirt work done at the edge of the cement trail where there were massive ruts of people entering/leaving the trail. I know we can’t just put up 1000 signs, so I’m with everyone else that anything would help.

I was out yesterday afternoon, but only rode past Peddlers. Peddlers west had standing water in the rollers and berms and the other sections were very muddy. I would guess at least a few more days before it would be passable. Sorry I don't have a report about the other trails.

They need to get on building that fence under the bridge to keep people from entering right in the super muddy section. Even with that fence, I would think you would need two sets of barriers since a lot of people go directly into the west portion and would bypass the chain on the east side. Hopefully they let you put up something that might protect the trail.

I’m confused on how anyone could have a fun ride with peddlers in its current condition. The rollers are full of water and everything is just muddy which must create a nightmare of a bike clean up. Ronan has more patience than anyone I know to not stand out on the trail and swing at people with a shovel after all the hours he’s put in. I hope there isn’t too much repair that’s needed since his focus is grooming the new section.

I can't usually join in on a weekday, but today I was able to get out there for a couple of hours by working from home before going out, keeping an eye on emails via my mobile, and now catching back up again at home. It worked this time, but most of the time I would have to be at the office or some other work function.

$50 was the default (which I chose), but $39 was just to the left. The buttons were a little odd to see as selections though.
