  1. For sure but once you get into a niche of a nice of a niche market, gross sales cant be that great. Besides, i cannot imagine many bike shops wanting to showroom a lot of $6-7k ebikes with margins and sales being as tough as they are. For me its not a matter of who should or should ride an ebike. I really don't give AF. I think the e-bike riders will sort themselves out when they get the cold shoulder from traditional riders. Ive seen / heard how roadies treat the e-bike guys and its pretty funny and IMHO, justified. To me e-bikes are the fruitboots of the skateboard world. Anytime a person showed up to the park on rollerblades they got heckled from beginning to end.
  2. So much this^ Like a lot of the other trends of late, ebikes will pass once the consumers get a real idea of their "value". Not worth the outlay just to ride the same switchback/ledge nightmares that exist here, only slightly faster.
  3. Picked up some bottles of cider from our local cidery. The Noir is great but this one in particular is even better as they aged it in rum barrels for some boozy goodness. If you're ever in Manchaca, swing by and check em out. http://www.texaskeeper.com/
  4. looks like the 2.6 DHR will fit on project Shoresy after all😎
  5. it's the new 27.5 , fatbike, 27+ and now mullet hypetrain. At least the mullet has a little merit.
  6. those skinwalls look sweet on the build too.
  7. Ah landfill bikes.........someones garbage is another's gold🤣
  8. To add to this, bikeshops are dying on the vine yet the industry is going to somehow push 6-8k ebikes(?) Not sure how this is gonna play out. "50% of SC's catalog being eBikes in 5 years -Rob Roskopp" SC currently has 13 bike models listed on their site and Rob says half will be ebikes in 5 years. That's at a minimum of 1.3 bikes introduced per year moving forward. It took them how long to develop that outdated heckler? 2-3 years.....
  9. It might, and you could certainly be right. I think we're looking outside from a very, very small bubble that is the MTB community. Sure, we on this forum have expensive bikes and also see some carbon whunderbikes on the trail but as a whole i think thats a small fraction of mountain bikes sold. I've seen a growing push to build cheaper aluminum bikes.
  10. It's hard to qualify who should or should not have access to an e-bike. I agree with AustinBike in that this will resolve itself over time. The marketplace can only sustain so many $6-8k e-bikes. The people that have the available cash will buy them first and the others will finance their purchase on a CC. Once that 20+% interest CC payment starts raping them monthly they wont be in any rush to go out and buy another e-bike. You only have to look at the progress of smartphone development to see that most e-bikes will be "obsolete" by the time they are paid off. Lastly, a growing number of americans are leveraged AF and only a fraction of boomer generation got the last of the good retirements that allow for such toys. This is a very, very small segment of the cycling subculture of MTB, and also who I see most on higher end E-mtbs. Once bones meet rocks a few times, they'll most likely find a safer hobby.
  11. I remember seeing that evil during the banduro. Bike is much brighter in the pics than in person. You have to look pretty hard to tell that its camo, so guess it's doing it's job😁
  12. They are 2 years too late on this one. The "we wanted it playful" statement is just an excuse for design constraints trying to shove a motor in the BB and make it all fit with the new VPP. A 29" would probably have stupid long chainstays so they stuck with 27.5 . Not to mention when this was being designed, 27.5 was still hot shit.
  13. "The first sign of the apocalypse" Was released this morning. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? Rob looks less than excited for this e-bike release, and levy is failing at trying to make this interview interesting.
  14. Looks like this one is gonna have to wait until the fall. Forecast is rain the entire time we're there and buffalo closes trails when its wet. At least I got my hotel refunded
  15. Damn man. good luck with everything this week
  16. Wife and I had to make trip to san marcos and decided to hit up the new brewery while there. Following Vista's lead, Roughhouse Brewing is definitely a step up in venues for breweries with a great building, outdoor stage , decent food and some tasty beers on tap. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area and the flight is huge for the $. http://roughhousebrewing.com/ Liked the Ona the most followed by the Sordid and IPA
  17. Yes, they even have that at the HEB now. Stuff is indeed pretty damn tasty.
  18. Animal's still killing it! Anti Nowhere League was always a favorite of mine growing up and still to this day.
  19. Bought the alpine stars one. only got 10% off when I usually see 20% but was is still a good value
  20. Speaking of bulleit, anyone bite it and buy a pack of these?
  21. I'll know how much tomorrow🤐
  22. Thanks for the information/offer. Thinking I'm gonna go with the Alpine stars one for the ventilation alone. Plus I can get one for quite a bit cheaper than MSRP.
  23. Thanks for the feedback. My buddy, who crashes a lot, says the split chest design isn't the best as it leaves the sternum somewhat vulnerable. Dunno, the solid plate stuff is gonna be warm but might be worth it. https://troyleedesigns.com/products/7855-protective-ls-shirt-black
  24. Have a Spider mountain & Arkansas DH trip planned in a couple of weeks and thinking about picking up some upper body protection. Any experience with the Alpine stars stuff? This one seems to offer the best bang for the buck and some decent ventilation as well. https://www.alpinestars.com/bionic-pro-protection-jacket
