  1. Just got back from Christmas at the soon to be in-laws in Waco. Prepping thy body for 3 days with my family in the Boot. First time back to Louisiana all year. It’s going to be a mess.
  2. I don’t know all the in’s and out’s, I just know what I like. I keep Bulleit in the cabinet at all times. High rye content, so it’s the best of the spicy rye and a good full bourbon. I think it’s incredibly well priced too, especially when you buy a handle at Costco. Heaven Hill puts out killer bourbons, this Elijah Craig being one of them. Little sweeter than your standard bourbon so not the best for an old fashioned or manhattan, but excellent on ice or neat on a freezing night. Buffalo Trace is about as good a straight forward bourbon you can find and most people and online lists will say the same. It’s true. My best recommendation is to go grab a $25-30 bottle that you’re interested in trying. Be it Elijah Craig, Four Roses, Russell’s, Knob Creek, Buffalo Trace, or old Forester. None of those are bad, and even if after a few pours you realize it’s not your favorite, slide it to the back of the bar and slowly come back to it. It won’t go bad. Try a few different things through the process. It’ll take time, but you’ll learn your ways and love the experience.
  3. I’m just happy I’m not the only one who’s seeing this. Seems like every Tom, Dick, and Harry are flipping a bike 6 months after buying it and expecting to get 90% MSRP. Really bogs down the market and hurts the visibility of a decently priced bike/spec.
  4. Just got an email that I was pushed into the field from the waitlist. Should be a good time.
  5. You’re in luck. Flat Rock Ranch is just 45 or so minutes north west of San Antonio in the town of Comfort and offers the best riding in all of Texas IMO. Plenty of trails for 1 day of riding, even enough to last 2 days.
  6. Unfortunately it looks like Wahoo pulled the Black Friday discount before Black Friday. Hope some of you got in on the deal if you were interested. I just wrapped up my first gravel ride with it. Awesome functionality, extremely customizable, 2 nice mounts (one stem and one out front) included, pretty sleek on the bike(s), and great turn by turn navigation. I built a 27 mile road and gravel route in strava last night for this mornings ride and it performed flawlessly. It also will automatically upload your ride to strava (and a lot of other apps that you may have) immediately following the ride if you tell it to. Preliminary results say this was a killer deal at $199, and probably still a good deal at $249.
  7. Just wanted to follow up on this. I’ve got about a hundred miles on these ESI Extra Chunk grips in tons of different terrain and all I can say is wow. The arm pump in my forearms, aches and cramping in my hands were getting to be a bit much, especially on the longer rides. These singlehandedly solved the issue. Soft and delicate, but offer a firm grip, and reduce vibrations so much that it’s hard to believe. I have kind of meaty hands, but not very big as I’m an average size human and the extra chunky are perfect to grab onto. The obvious downsize is how delicate they are from riding. I’ve got some cuts and bruises on the ends from tree gates, but they’re so affordable (sub $20) that it will not be an issue to replace once or twice a year. I definitely recommend these grips if you’re in the market.
  8. It’ll be interesting to see if this thing gets postponed or the location changed. Reimers shuts down every time a raindrop falls.
  9. Their blue and pink units (not the black one) are 199.99 right now with the code BOLT50 at checkout. I’ve been wanting this computer for a while, and this sealed it. Great deal IMO. https://www.wahoofitness.com/devices/bike-computers/gps-elemnt-bolt
  10. Sedona today. Slim Shady, HiLine, Hogs. Rowdy day.
  11. I’m done a number of combinations on the last few bikes. Austin trails only I’ve not found much better than a DHF/Rekon combo. If it’s wet the Rekon will be a little less reliable to lock up.
  12. I looked at it but ultimately went a different direction. Loved the geo numbers, but didn’t care for some of the specs. Ended up going with the Norco Sight, which if I were doing it today I would go with the 2020 Norco Optic over the 2020 Sight. The new Optic is what the Sight use to be and the new Sight is what the Range use to be. No telling what the Range will become.
  13. I wish, but that’s the night of my company holiday party. Should be a good time.
  14. I went for it. South side was a bit sloppy and slick. North side was dry. Whole thing is rideable for sure. Tomorrow would be a good day.
  15. Wondering the same. I’m going for a loop either tomorrow or Sunday, preferably tomorrow.
  16. Superfly Jimmy Snicka Stout. Need a little sugar to make it home
  17. HEB Lakeline, so I’m sure it’s across most HEBs. They typically don’t put these stouts in the cooler, so search around the display areas.
  18. Riding the BCRT now. PP had chain down, but it isn’t ready, so chain just went back up. Picnic had standing water in multiple spots. Those are the only 2 I checked.
  19. Without question. Stone Xocoveza is hands down my favorite winter beer in the history of my beer consumption. It is expensive, so I limit myself to 1 or 2 6ers when it’s in season, but I recommend this beer to anyone and everyone.
  20. 40 degrees and raining? Here comes the tortilla soup and a big stout.
  21. I honestly don’t know how to Facebook, and I’m only 31. Can you provide any more info on this? I planned to start at cedar breaks Saturday morning at 7-7:30 and ride clockwise. If this is not an option, what should I do? I’ve only been there one other time and started at Cedar Breaks.
  22. Planning to get redemption this weekend. Conditions should be fine I suspect, and trail should be good and cleaned up since it’s the weekend before DS.
  23. It is a bit disappointing to see them throw in a number of people after the even had filled up and closed, while the waitlist hasn’t budged.
