I think it's his opinion, not an actual park rule.

Sunday, Oct 10 -- or Monday, Oct 11?

I don't know that it's strictly directional, but the trail signage does point you in a specific direction, and I don't know that I'd ride it any other way. I for sure wouldn't want to meet someone flying down the downhills while I was riding up one. What day do you plan to go out there -- maybe I'll come out too.

I ride the three marked race loops on the parking lot side - if it gets hot you can skip any of them using the trail which runs along the peak of the hill - then I ride what used to be an extra credit loop, going thru the gate at the top. That's also where you can divert and climb to the flow trail, if you want. Then I follow the trail over to the back side of the hill, which includes the rock garden section, and that takes you back over the hill to the big downhill. If you don't want to ride the 'meadow', which is several miles and rather boring, turn left onto the double track when you pass the gate.

So very true. I left my appallingly-low paid finance position because I could -- I'd joined the City from the private sector. Every person I worked with had resigned themselves to never ever being able to leave for the private sector. Some were rather jealous, although by now I expect they have hit their 23 years and are busy trying to get re-hired as a consultant.

They are welcome to some of the fifteen fucking grand I pay in property tax, for which I get no perceivable return. I wish I could have a say in where it goes. Many years ago I worked for the City of Austin. It's astonishing how many well-paid people are just sitting around waiting for their 23 years to be up. Bah humbug - don't get me started.

It is, and per Thad W, entirely legit and above board. However, it may not be finished yet.

I'm building a skills park in my back yard - I can always use some extra lumber.

There are some serious dickheads out at both Suburban Ninja and SATN. Real bikes, decent kit, so they must ride enough to be somewhat aware of conventions and norms -- and yet they fly up behind me, hub buzzing, in spots where there is no possible way for me to let them past. I've taken to sudden braking near cacti, and enjoy watching them bushwhack around me - hope you have cushcore, brah.

You carry a Bond Arms Texas Defender?

It changed hands, and the new owner(s) didn't seem to have a lot of interest in maintaining it, especially when it came to preventing the bots from polluting the forums.

I doubt you’ll find much remorse here.

I spent many summers in the south of France as a kid - we had a house there. I highly recommend heading for Aix-en-Provence, and from there toward the coast, and find a small village to hang out in (ours was La Croix Valmer).

Let us know if you need $$ to keep place running and bot-free.

Isaac & Tena Thurm Venable Early Settlers on Bull Creek

I actually did a beer / margarita check in the old Simons home -- when Bill spotted the picture I posted, he said he wanted to be there for the next one. -

There's a lot of history in them thar woods, which until relatively recently were also the home of the cedar choppers. There's an old stone homestead on the south side of 360, accessibly by bike, but more easily on foot, which was the home of fellow mountain biker Bill Simons' pa, and his pa before him. At the far end of 360, closer to Lost Creek, there's an Eanes family graveyard. That's the family of Gary Eanes, who comes to R&I. A lot of it - to me at least - was uncovered by running around those hills with the hash house harriers. -

Curious where you are sourcing a 32 oz bottle. The largest I have is the Camelbak Podium Big Chill, and that's 24 oz. -
Me too - my work laptop is not happy!

I scored an Offerman Lagavulin from TW recently. Score! -
Hear, hear. Our execs are trying to make us return to the open office (from behind their closed doors) - most of us are flat out refusing.

I prefer to think of them as the 'Vienna Sausages'.
