  1. Geeze. Would need to negotiate to take over the lease on that warehouse as well. Where the hell would you put all that? and the head ache of moving it all to another location.
  2. Nice! After I purchased my gloworms, creepy ass Facebook started showing me ads for Outbound lighting. I never saw anything about them when researching different lights which is too bad as their product looks intriguing. Did you get both of their lights?
  3. Gloworm X2 (1,700 lumens) on the bar and a Gloworm CX (1,200 lumens) on my helmet. In this photo, the X2 was on low power and the CX was on medium power. There is a thread on riding lights where I go into more detail. https://austinmountainbiking.com/index.php?/topic/1421-night-riding-lights/ Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. If the Austin Hydromet is to be trusted, I'm seeing .2" of rain at walnut in the past 48 hours. Looks like there is a good chance we won't see any additional rain until late this evening. Anyone near Walnut know if the trails are dry enough to ride? Just trying to determine if I should dawn my cold weather gear and head on down to the R&I tonight.
  5. And on road bikes the chain MUST be on the big chain ring. Everyone knows the small chain ring is for children and Freds.
  6. It looks like you’re also experiencing the error where it’s uploading a non-drive side pic. [emoji13] Seriously though, beautiful bike. I demoed one over the summer and thought it was a great ride. Very playful and agile. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Looks like the big log on the East end of Picnic flew south for the winter. Anyone know what happened to it?
  8. Personal preference. E-W has a net elevation increase so there is a little more climbing and a few more tech features you have to go up. W-E has a net elevation decrease. It feels slightly more flowly to me and there are a few more drops. I enjoy both directions. Here is the elevation profile going E-W
  9. Got my Gloworm lites in the mail today. Ended up going with a X2 for the bars and a CX, which is their self contained light, for my helmet. Very impressed with the build quality of both lights and the multiple mounting options. I’ve got the CX mounted with a standard GoPro mount on my helmet and the X2 is bar mounted with a garmin quarter turn directly under the stem. The rise in my bars start right at the stem so the light is slightly tilted which annoys me. I have a stem spacer quarter turn mount for my Garmin Edge and I’ll be getting another one for my X2 to solve this issue. The wireless remote for the X2 is nifty. Definitely makes it easy to adjust the brightness. Unfortunately the CX is not wireless compatible but did come with a wired remote that I’ve placed on the side of my helmet and is easily to reach and has a very light touch when registering user inputs. Took the lights out for a test ride this evening. There is a small wooded area in my neighborhood where I could get an idea of what it would be like out on the trails. Wow! I had the lights on their lowest setting and everything directly in front of me, to the sides and ~15m in front of me was perfectly illuminated. Switched the lights to the highest output and the area of illumination doubled. On the X2 I have the flood and wide angle lenses installed. On the CX I have both spot lenses installed. This seems to be a great combination. Looking forward to seeing how they perform out at Brushy this weekend. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Glad to hear your leg has made a speedy recovery. I’m down to ride. 8am? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Your sentiments on Gloworm’s products seem to be fairly universal. It’s hard to find a true negative opinion on some aspect of their lights other than the slightest niggle here and there. This is why I’m gravitating towards them Too make thing better (but still not good in reality) for my wallet, I just found a 15% off coupon...for all Gloworm products.
  12. It's my understanding that lumens are additive. So in theory 4 250 lumen lights will equal 1000 lumens as long as none of the light beams are overlapping. So a 1,000 lumen light will be brighter over its total throw, but 4 250 lumen lights will allow you to throw 1,000 lumens over a wider area. I would say havinge multiple lower powered lights to help illuminate a wider area than having a single very bright light right in front of you would be more practical. Boy would it look silly to have 4 lights on your handle bars though. lol. You'd start to look like one of those BMW GX adventure riders with a million "farkles" on their handle bar.
  13. Thanks. So in your opinion, how many lumens do you feel are adequate? Would 500 lumens for each bar and helmet light be good? That would definitely help drive the price down a bit. While I don't know for sure due to lack of experience, logic tells me that my bar mounted light should be more spread focused and the helmet light should be a spot beam. What are your thoughts on this?
  14. Reviving an old thread in leu of starting a new one. With the time about to fall back, I'm interested in purchasing some night riding lights. So right now I'm gravitating towards two different Gloworm products mainly because they look solid AF, come with a GoPro mount and they review very well. Definitely a premium product though and is going to run me at a minimum $350. I typically am in the "buy once, cry once" camp so this seems to the bill. What I'm not sure on is if this is over kill. I don't need to light up the trails as if the sun was out, but I do want to make sure my lighting system is adequate enough to safely right at a semi-spirited pace. First option would be a double Gloworm X2 adventure adventure set up. One for the bar and one for the helmet. Pros: Includes the wireless remote which can pair with both lights at once GoPro mount compatible as I already have a GoPro mount on my helmet Ability to change out the type of lense (Flood, spot, ect.) A full 1,700 lumens of output per light. Cons: $424! Battery run time of 1.5 hours which is about my typical right length but could potentially be limiting Another option to save a little cash would to be one X2 adventure for the bars and then a Gloworm Alpha on the helmet. Pros and cons are similar with a few exceptions $351 total (Still kind of a con, but a pro in comparison to the aforementioned setup) The alpha is not compatible with the wireless remote While you can change out the lenses on the alpha, the lenses are paired together and can't be changed independently The alpha only throws out 1,200 lumens For those of you with night riding experience is this over-kill? Just right? Not enough? In an ideal world I'd like to spend $200 for both lights but I'm just not sure if that price point will get me a set up that 1. has a good light spread and 2. will have enough lumens. Maybe I'm wrong though so if you have any recommendations I am open to it.
  15. No problem at all. Here's to a quick recovery!
  16. @throet Any interest in getting the group ride started up tomorrow morning barring any cabinet deliveries?
  17. Found the log at the start of upper picnic moved off to the side. Moved it back. All is right with the world.
  18. Found a used 2019 Yari on FB for $200. Don’t know why the guy was selling it so cheap as it was in great condition! Already got it on the rig.
  19. Got the dreaded CSU creak on my Fox 36 and am going to have to send it in to Fox. The weather is way too good right now to not be riding so I'm looking for a used fork to slap on the rig while my 36 is in the hospital. Don't really care about the make or model as long as it's a 160mm 29er boost fork. 44mm offset would be ideal but this is temporary so I'll take what I can get. Thanks. Edit: Fork acquired.
  20. @throet I’m down. Meet up location?
  21. He seems scummy. A 200mm DH bike is more or less unrideable in Austin unless it’s your dedicated spider mountain bike. Fortunately, I think the price is going to scare off any beginners who may not understand what this bike is intended for and for those looking for a DH bike, they will probably hammer this dude on the price.
  22. Anyone looking for the PERFECT bike for Austin?
  23. Well I guess all the effort to install the frame protection was worth it. Got a small scrape today at Emma on the non-drive side chain stay. No paint damage!
  24. Y’all’s wives ride MTBs??? The only thing my wife does is “tolerate” my MTBing.
