El Gringo
2 ways I've used: 1. separate each cog with a screwdriver and remove individually 2. at the base of the teeth, GENTLY hammer the cogs loose
AntonioGG
If you have loose small cogs on the end, hold one of those with a wrench, or more accurately, put the small cog on a vice-grip then put it over the exposed splines, then tap on the rest of the cassette backwards to get it out of the notch. It's hard to explain it but the idea is to hold the freewheel while you tap on the cassette backwards. It should then come out easily. mack_turtle
Two chainwhips would be helpful. If you can only have one, it's not difficult to make one with a bit of old chain
