  1. I came across this while watch bike restoration videos on YouTube. I need/want to paint my daughters' HotRock 24. This stuff seems pretty easy to use with minimal prep compared to even other rattle can jobs. Anyone ever use it? https://spraybike.us/pages/how-to-use-spray-bike Example use:
  2. I think that's a two pieces of Ply wood separated by some rubber balls and a center pivot. Maybe a NBO...
  3. I was going to go the Amazon route for led fixtures. But one of the reviews pointed out that many are not UL listed which can be a big red flag if theres ever a home insurance claim for fire. I got 6 of the Costco ones when they were on sale and now I can let the kids ride at night in the driveway/sidewalk if I roll up the garage doors.
  4. Taking your kids bike somewhere but don't want to resize your rack? Use the locks!
  5. No joke. I've got a compost bin and when I overload it with too much grass/kitchen scraps I've got a big open tub of oak leaves to balance it out. After one of our drenchers where we got several inches over a few days I was digging through it and 1.5 inches down was bone dry. And untouched. I finally had to run the whole thing through my blower/shreader to get them to start breaking down and get some moisture into it.
  6. Me too but live oak leaves are dry, waxy, slippery death traps. PNW leaves are never dry and make a nice mat over the soft loam and get pulverized by the 10th rider.
  7. I'll take it! My daughter and I are working on a 24" Hotrock build. She thinks it's for a friend...
  8. I've had them mounted since 2012...😐 *starts googling new tires*
  9. I'm still running Nevegals... But I agree, I was 100% satisfied with them in the NW but in Austin they are only good in a limited band of conditions. I'm just too cheap to replace them when they still have knobs left. My HT has a Maxxis Ikon (rear) and WTB trail boss (front) and they are better than the Nevegal in almost every situation.
  10. Was this an actual model or did someone put this together...? https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/427563438233153/
  11. I heard that @AustinBike had a great tool loaner policy with no late fees...
  12. Seen most of usuals, opossum, squirrel, bunny, armadillo, deer, non-venomous snakes, etc. But my one claim to fame is a pair of civets right after sunset at the end of picnic, right next to the bridge. They were so skiddish I couldn't even open my velcro pouch to get a picture. But I got a good look at them. Bigger than a squirrel, ringed tail, big eyes and ears.
  13. 2 years ago I bought an electric tea kettle from Amazon. A few weeks back it randomly stopped working. Amazon said to contact OXO about it because it was well past the return date. After 2 weeks of silence, OXO sent me tracking for a new kettle and a prepaid label for the dead one.
  14. Normally, I would agree. However, the accessibility of the trail must be considered. If double down was on cat mtn or spider then yes, your expectations are 100% correct. However, a highly technical trail was placed smack dab in the middle of suburbia and the expectation that weekend warrior Joe is going to ever ride at a level of DD is a high bar. I know I'll never be able to ride often enough to make it through DD without walking most features (or most of the trail 😉 ) . I really don't enjoy spending the few hours I get a week to ride walking my bike so I avoid it and work on 1/4 notch because it's much closer to my skill level and I enjoy the challenge it gives me at the frequency that I am able to ride. This demographic is currently exploding in all neighborhoods immediately surrounding Brushy. This will never not be an issue on these trails. They aren't remote and they aren't hard to find. Education will always be lagging behind the amazing work done by the builders. Instead, I would recommend sanctioned B lines that are sustainable and allow the A line a chance to be untouched by Samaritan Sam. Your only other choices are: endure the random rebuilds block access to the trail to only the best or shut it down.
  15. Her speed has steadily increased. Following her on single-track used to be a 1st/2nd gear crawl for me. By the end of our ride yesterday I realized I was actually going at a casual pace and sometimes even falling behind, awesome to see progress!
  16. She survived her first front wheel washout today and did over 3 miles of Peddlers Pass! This makes 3 out of the last 4 Saturdays she's begged to ride.
  17. Ugh, you shouldn't have shown me that... I've been in debate of rebuilding this from scratch because she's at least 6 months away from riding it on trails. Luckily she's got a 20" Hotrock until then.
  18. Working on my daughters 24" Hotrock. It *had* these rollers above and below the front cog. As I was cleaning up the bottom one because it wasn't rolling the top one exploded. I removed what was left and was able to crush it with my hands, very brittle. Are these just a cooler way of appeasing the layers in lieu of a chain cover? Is there any reason I shouldn't just remove them both?
  19. Is he connected? I always thought he was independent. I actually met him once, a co-worker bought one of his bikes.
  20. My kids bikes are out growing the inside of my SUV. I'm looking for either a 1Up Add on or a 1-up Double Rack to purchase.
  21. It finally happened. After 3+ years of Austin riding I pinch flatted my inner tube while showing off for my kid. I was riding up some square edged stairs. I was probably running around 12psi.
