  1. K, I’ll just leave my truck parked on Cesar Chavez and ride a scooter into downtown. Maybe I can just park it on the granite driveway along the lake. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. If racing XC, that weight makes a massive difference. If you can maintain power at the same level, 15 pounds on a female frame is just insane. You will probably be 8-10+ minutes faster in your average XC race. Most of the teams here are really clubs with discounts. The big shops give out very little if any discount, so it’s about making friends and giving back with a group and networking. I personally just enjoy making my rounds to tents after the races and chatting with my fellow racers who are on teams. Big MTB presence: Weaver technologies Yeah! Primetime Mafia racing Smaller: Texas heating and A/C 787 Das wow Snacks Troublemaker Chumba (fast guys that own chumbas) Etc I’m forgetting many. Then you have all of the cycle shop “teams” which could mean the person is literally paying to be on the team by a membership fee or required jersey purchase, or you are just buying bikes there(all forms of you paying) or the shop team could have 10-30 bike discounts and support (that varies greatly!) I’ve literally been offered cost on Bikes from a smaller shop that wanted me and my wife to race for them. The big stores in Austin don’t have to offer these types of deals. Lots more discounting outside of Austin going on. The teams are competing for team overall points, so it is kind of a numbers game. It helps for them to have racers in all categories and age groups. At one point last year it felt like 1/3 of people were racing in a weaver kit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. How do I get to my house I paid for? On another note, I do think scooters are the hover board we saw in Back to the Future. And I’m the only one here whose lawn actually has scooters riding in it which is ironic. We have a thread full of people in the Burbs saying “get off my lawn.” Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I think I have worked with 4 of those people! That’s a high probability. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Scooters don’t bother me; I find them entertaining to watch. Dogs at walnut don’t bother me unless they are fighting in the creek and owners won’t or can’t break them up, therefore your dog doesn’t belong in the park. I will and do break them up. I have enough pride in my neighborhood, and respect for handicap that I will line the scooters up or move them out of the way. I take more issue with the bikes. They are an eyesore and just thrown everywhere with no one that moves them. There was one in the bushes in town lake for three weeks. I never go around to moving it... 6. Tin foil hat theory. I too notices stand got much worse and more liquid. Stans came out with Stan’s Race formula. Basically it’s thicker, seals better (so good it will clog your presets. Could they have adjusted one to make the other seem that much better? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Trust him. It’s Far better. It seals faster and far larger gashes at speed. Basically I just put about 4 ounces in these days and rip it through everything without worry. I used to have about 2 little seap holes on my HD overnight where the tire was noticeably wet over night. With OS, I have ridden through a field of sticker bushes. I pulled them all out one by one and it sealed instantly. It’s better at Clotting and creating a more permanent fill on the holes if that makes sense? Also, it’s local if you care about that kind of thing. To the original poster. New tires, I use more stand than recommended because of the initial coating of the tires and the inevitable loss while seating the tire. Older coated tires I might use 3oz. If you store your bike in a hot Texas garage, check your level of Stan’s once per month. Buy yourself a charger pump if you don’t own a compressor. Buy yourself a valve stem puller if you aren’t able to remove prestas by hand. Buy yourself some orange seal. You can throw it on top of old stand if you need too. Unfortunately you have to buy the mini orange seal bottle to get the stem hose and valve core clearer. But your life will be better for it. Buy yourself extra presets cores and put one in your camelbak in case it ever gets so clogged you can’t pump your tires or if you break one while riding( been there). 8. Sorry, Tapatalk sucks and won’t let me see what I type. -140 Fork -Closeouts around town -2016 9.8 Fuel Ex (blue and orange carbon) which is the Fuel EX that Trek should never have stopped making. That bike was fantastic! Tell us a bit about what trails you ride and your goals. If you were looking at a Fuel EX, I would take a look at the Demo yeti 4.5s as wel. BSS has some in their used bike section with full warranty. Lots of people will let you ride their bike as well, just keep in mind, you are riding their setup and tune or lack there of. It may not be the bike. All of these bikes mentioned are good and light years ahead of what you have.. you cannot really go wrong unless you go too big IMO. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. So much poor bike feel comes from setup and the inability to attribute the experience to specific parts. This comes from a lack of experience in a range or tires and parts to see how those changes affect the same bike. What is your goal with the bike? Do you want to buck big stuff or just ride chunky trails fast? I have 9.9 top fuel, with Fox34 at 120. I mention this because of the suspension design. I love the full floater and it is fantastic on our trails. The rockier it gets the faster I can go relative to people I am racing. The bike helps a bit because it caters to my riding style. I have to say it was really bad my first trip, in the greenbelt and I thought I had made a mistake. It turns out the shock only uses a small amount of the visible travel. My sag was actually at 50%! My tires sucked, and pressure was high. Appropriate tuning all around and good tires turned it into a trail slaying machine in a matter of 3 rides. I’ve only ridden the fuel ex once and it wasn’t a great experience , but I think you need time on any bike to get it right unless you are just lucky with the tune. My friend has the 9.8 fuel ex and I would say it’s a nimble and fast bike for him. He is putting up smoking fast times on XC races in it, so I wouldn’t say it’s a Dead Baum killer. That sounds like poor tune especially in rebound and rear pressure. Others not in Austin, are raving about the new Fuel and how good of a bike it is, especially with a 140 form. Trek has never had a good footprint with anyone on this forum or MOJO, so I wouldn’t let this forum bias your opinion. Get a shock pump, rent the bike and go ride several different trails on it over a weekend. The shop will credit you the rental towards a purchase. Why on earth would you buy something that expensive without test riding it and it? If your goal is just a trail bike, there are some good closing deals around town. Stumps, and even the 2016 fuel Eax that is 120/120 sitting at MJs Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yeah, I didn’t know if you were dropping in from your house. I think Jester and Duval would be my Plan as well. You can always hit the chevron 1 block further on Jollyville past the turn for Duval if you are really in need. Or are you wanting something after Walnut? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What if you just started in the Greenbelt at Zilker or even Mopac? That would shift all of the water stops and open up a lot of opportunities for eating and drinking along the route? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Always store screen in! I had a rock go through my screen and battery and bulge the back. I hit the eject button on Ed's.
  13. I brushed my teeth with tap water all week and used NUUN water to wash my drivetrain at Reveille
  14. Here is your report: It rained all day on the greenbelt yesterday. The water is high. It’s muddy. Now that the bridge is complete, going up chunky just before the toys/3rd creek crossing would be an option to connect with the Mopac entrance. I could trim and mark it. Or an older Route using S16. 15. So what is the proposed GB route? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

No, we are talking a few hundred yards and 1 minute unless traffic is really bad at the light. My decision would be more about personal safety on the road. I probably would have times the difference already if the water weren’t high when I rolled by it to see what you were talking about. I would rather stay in the bike lane and fly past Amherst than deal with merging across traffic and turning at that light. Merging over at Duval and Mopac would be my preference. I looked back and I was not averaging 22mph, only 19 As I mentioned before, my time would be better spent working on Greenbelt Damage vs timing a road segment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’m glad you find this entertaining. I was merely asking if this is the route so I wouldn’t be considered “cheating” by just staying on Duval. I’d rather not try to cross the street at Amherst onto the sidewalk if possible. If we are talking about speed, I guarantee you the Duval/Mopac Bike lane route is way faster. Take my word for it. My time is better spent on my side of town cutting up the mass of trees that will be blocking the greenbelt route. Last time I asked about riding the rock climbing wall and did. I rode a harder section of the greenbelt by choice that was faster than the dabbing traffic between first and second crossing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. When I view on Tapatalk, the image displayed I thought was the new sidewalk being poured under the northbound feeder parallel to Gnarnia. I assume this all part of the same phase of a city mobility project. They both achieve the same access goals in different ways. It’s nice to have options for once! I also tried to loop in that new section of Balcones that you recommended for good measure [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. That’s what I am referring to. The path is completed from Steck all the way to the RR track at domain along Mopac. All you have to do is wait for one person to make eye contact and wave and you are clear to cross the turn lane. You must contend with the two entrances into arbor walk, but it wasn’t bad. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. You got it. I had a little time to explore and there is now a cut through where I posted the Photo. In the past I had gone through the domain and used the singletrack along braker to get back to shoal creek. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I did. The elbow is poured after the soccer fields. They were working on the route along the track and had the forms up My route is a much better route for me because if you use gnarnia from Downtown, everything north of there is sketchy and or annoying to ride on domain/breaker/metric. It’s much easier and safer to cross braker at mopac than at Burnet due to the way the lights work. I’m ok with an extra mile if I am moving for that mile vs standing at a stoplight and hitting 5+ stop signs in the domain. I also dislike the EB route going North. It’s slow and has lots of waiting and dodging cars. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I know the water is abnormal. I would rather continue on Duval full gas’s and turn at the light at Mopac if given the option. I’m pretty sure my average speed was 22ish on Duval. I’d rather no surprise a walker or Bum on some of those blind corners in Balcones. It’s a much more scenic route! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Is this mandatory or optional? Its a really pretty route. I checked it out yesterday and the water was too high to pass. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. I rode it today downtown - walnut (to see if it was dry) North on shoal creek Left on Steck into Bike lane Right on sidewalk which goes all the way to underpass after Braker Enter driveway Hyde park Quarries Driveway Hit singletrack at beginning over RR track and through other fence. Continue all the way on bike path across Duval to the Walnut Creek Bike path drop in. This has been the best and most uninterrupted route I have ever done to walnut. The singletrack cut through is at the start of that fence in this picture: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
