  1. Thanks to both of you for the offers. I’ll take Sloan up on it since it’s much shorter distance. I’ll pm you now, Sloan.
  2. I’m in search of a single star nut for a new fork install. Thought I had one or two but they are nowhere to be found. I’m willing to swing by and grab off a porch this week sometime. Thanks for the help.
  3. This tire has 200 miles on it then I swapped to gravelkings. Free to a good home.
  4. I just pulled the trigger on a 27.5+ steel gravel/adventure bike. Going to outfit it with a 110mm fox 32 and hit just about any trails out there.
  5. Oh yea, it’s either 100 or 120, nothing more. I could do a 110 and probably have the best of both worlds. I plan to push the bike hard, but I want it to ride right more that just over forking for the sake of over forking.
  6. That’s what I’m thinking. The head angle is already fairly steep at 69 degrees. Also if I run a 120mm and ran 25% sag it would drop that +13 to a +7 which would be even better. seems like I have the proper train of thought, so I’ll probably go with a 120mm.
  7. Say a bike comes with a crown to axle rigid fork of 483mm and the manufacturer says a suspension fork could be installed with a c-a of 501-511 (100mm). Is that 501-511 (100mm) value calculated including say a 20% sag? So if I Installed a fork with a 500 (100mm travel) c-a and had 20% sag, my effective c-a would be 480 (-3mm from rigid)? Next, if I installed a 520 (120mm) c-a fork with 20% sag, my effective c-a would be 496 (+13 from rigid)? Now if those two scenarios are accurate, which would you recommend. Going -3mm from original rigid fork, or going +13mm from original rigid fork? Thanks for any help you’re willing to provide.
  8. Damn! BA Mocha Legion has got to be off the charts! I recall a Jamaican rum barrel Legion a couple years back that I thought snuck into my top 5 beer group. Always been a community fan.
  9. Looks like that band of rain missed us for the most part. If nothing forms over the next hour trails should be G2G. *heads to garage to prep the big bike* ETA: son of a bitch
  10. 11am town hall said 400-500 layoffs coming in the next 14 days. Here we go.
  11. And rigid! I’m in the market for a rigid, big tire clearance bike like that. Leaning towards a Jones SWB, or a + size fargo if I decide on drop bars, but a rigid stache would be kick ass too. Back on topic, I’ve ridden the BCRT 6-7 times this in the last 2 weeks and it has been complete madness. Officials say stay inside and nearly every human in cedar park goes to the park. People without helmets on bikes, walkers on the wrong side of the path, came across 4-5 people wide a few times, completely glued to their phone, dogs off leash, you name it and I’ve seen it.
  12. Stormchaser was released last week. It hasn’t even hit retailers around here yet. It is very similar to the journeyman in terms for geometry, but SS. Cool bike.
  13. Sweet ride! Jealous of the yellow 650b. If you’re ever wanting to swap out for a 700c wheel set keep me posted!
  14. Yea, these are the Spyres. I’ve adjusted twice since buying, just because the wear, but nothing surprising. I think that’s just the nature of mechanical brakes. I imagine better pads would help by prolonging wear.
  15. I have the salsa journeyman Apex 1. I did a ton of research last year before I bought it to figure out what would be the best do it all gravel bike that I can ride the the brewery, do some gravel races on, and even bike pack, all for the best price, and now with over 1,500 miles on it I still think I made the right decision (with 1 change). It’s pretty light at 24 pounds, plenty of bottle and 3 pack mounts (bike packing), carbon fork, super comfortable and stable geometry, apex 1 is solid, trp brakes are good for what they are. Overall no issues at all, but I would do the 650b version over the 700c. After I bought mine I bought my fiancé the pink 650b version and I must admit the 650b setup is so much more fun to ride than the 700c. I don’t find I lose any speed, it’s more nimble, even more stable, and just a ton of fun to ride. I’m 5’9 on a size 54, so take that for what it’s worth. If you’re 6’2 on a 59 I doubt a 650b is a good idea but maybe that’s your jam. I recommend at a minimum riding both wheel sizes though. I’m running 700x43s right now with huge clearance and consider going 700x50s, but it may be overkill.
  16. From 2012 to 2016 I spent on average of $500 a month trading and drinking the “best” beers in the country, at least per craft beer lists. I know this because I still have the excels. Now, couldn’t care less. I go to HEB and build a 6er of shiners and local Texas offering I’ve never had and I’m tickled pink. Can be taste buds that change, financial situations, or just desire to even want beer at all. No matter what you like what you like, but more importantly, you like it when you like it. Don’t worry too much about it.
  17. I don’t know why you’re trying to argue with me. The medical doctor that I was with and tested positive for the flu with told me word for word “a positive note in this is that you can’t have the flu and covid 19 at the same time.” Should I call her a liar because crazyt on the internet said so?
  18. Panaracer gravel king sk’s. There’s a reason 6/10 bikes at gravel events run these tires. They’re as good as it gets. 700x43 is what I run, but with nearly 2 thousand miles on these in the last 9 months I’m eyeing my next set which I may spring for the 700x50.
  19. 1) it’s excellent 2) the sugars tend to settle in the bottom of the pineapple, so it is a regular thing to leave upside down over night before cutting to spread the sweetness throughout. and we bang our neighbors.
  20. If anyone would like my registration for the 3/4 grind, it’s up for grabs to be transferred into your name. Unfortunately October doesn’t work for me.
  21. Long story, but I ended up with 2 of these and only need 1. Pretty cool unit I’ve found useful after rides out in hill country. Yours for $40. Link from chain reaction cycles: https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/mobile/us/en/mobi-v-15-portable-bike-pressure-washer/rp-prod34761
  22. Fun fact a doctor told me this morning: you cannot have the flu and coronavirus simultaneously. Don’t kill the messenger as the messenger lays in bed with the flu and a 102.4 temp.
  23. It could have been squashed in china with the swiftness, but seeing the only sacrificial lambs are elderly people, China let this spread like wildfire and the media is pumping it as hard as possible. This sends the market and jobs to a screeching halt, oil markets fall out of the bottom, and everyone is in complete panic. All in a US election year while congress drags their feet to get relief to the America people.
  24. My company is global and Europe and Asia offices have been working from home for a couple weeks now. Thursday we tested America offices (50% of the company) and our VPN locked up. Got all the sorted out and now we’re expecting to work from home for the next month or two. I WFH a few days a week so no issues with me. That said, I don’t think the virus itself is what’s threatening the globe, I think it’s societies knee jerk reaction to it. I also have a tin foil hat on and think this was man made by global powers, or at the very minimum allowed to escape China with relative ease, to oust the US president in an election year in an effort to send America back to being everyone bitch. Throw Saudi into the mix as they saw an opportunity to drown the globe with oil to add to the hysteria, it’s all adding up. Regardless of how I feel about this loony president, I think this is the case. I went to HEB lakeline at 6am this morning and it was nuts. Literally zero produce and meat on the shelves. Got enough stocked up for a couple weeks if need be. Next stop is total wine here in about 15 minutes to get booze. Once I get that, I’m coasting with plenty of ammo.
