  1. Out riding early this morning. saw a guy with a fullface helmet. The ONLY reason I even noticed is because of some comments in this thread. Otherwise, good on him for wearing what he considers proper gear.
  2. The bell got used a LOT today. Seems like everyone had earbuds in.
  3. My need for fullface goes up as my speed comes down. 95% of my OTB events have been from going to slow for the terrain.
  4. About 80% of the people I interview, and about 95% of the people I hire are what would be considered Millennials. Very few of them have degrees, but they are some talented and brilliant people. Usually it runs about 40% women and less than half are white, not that it matters. Some of the people applying fit the stereotypical mold, but not very many. They get weeded out pretty quickly. Stereotypes are usually based at least in part on facts. But looking past that, and judging people as individuals is when you find the good ones.
  5. I guess I never received the box of trophies to hand out, and I don't ride an e-mtb.
  6. People used to tell me I didn't need all the gear I wore riding my Ducati on the street. I was thankful for every single piece of it when I got hit. Gear is a personal choice, and *need* to one person is not the same for someone else. No reason to judge people for it.
  7. They may be out doing more activities that they did pre-lockdown.
  8. I agree, I feel like we had better examples back then. It may have just been my upfetchin' but my parents *seemed* smart about these things.
  9. Younger people seem to be oblivious to the fact that debt is modern slavery. So many of them are deep in credit card debt, student loans, and more car than they need/can afford. It's nearly impossible to get ahead once that starts.
  10. I see people that are refinancing right now to get cash out of their homes, and going further in to debt on a new 30 year loan. It would make sense if that money was being invested to make a higher return justifying the rate on the loan. It's not, it's like free money and will end up being a car and whatever else they don't need. Regret is sure to follow eventually.
  11. Unless people are willing to NOT rent, then nothing that comes easily. You can't limit the number of properties people are allowed to own. I guess you could use some form of taxation on non-primary homes to make it less profitable. With more and more people working remotely, the requirement to live near your job means a lot less. Some people WANT to live in metropolis, but can't afford to. That's not unfair, that's life.
  12. I started bootcamp 4 days after my 17th birthday. The world was mine, but even thinking about buying a house then was impossible. Back then loans were 14-18%. Things today are very different.
  13. I order rolls of Lamin-x Bicycle Frame Tape Guard. Very easy to use.

    Car Glamping

Going back 10+ years to when Lake Travis was SUPER low. There were sunglasses and bic lighters EVERYWHERE. Lakes work great for hiding things, till they don't. 🙂
  15. I had to accept that same status after my heart attack. I simply can't do what I used to do. Thankfully I still ride a lot, just not as fast as some other people.
  16. We did that 14 years ago in southern California. Perfect timing apparently.
  17. I have 5 Dwarf yaupon holly bushes out front that had no ill effects at all. I'm replacing dead bushes with them
  18. We plant bee friendly as much as possible.
  19. I have that thread hidden so that I stay out of the conversation, but...I want to apologize for letting my frustrations affect interactions with other people. I wear masks where required, and don't try to force my opinions on others. My wife and I are almost done with our jabs. She has both, I have a week and a half for my second. I despise anti-vaxxers. The virus is real, and even though I have a different opinion of the actual risk, we all have to live it. I know people that want to keep restrictions in place, even when most everyone has been jabbed, I disagree with that. They have the right to stay masked and maintain distance for as long as they like. I want to start getting back to normal so that small businesses and others can survive. I sincerely apologize for letting my frustrations boil over into a place that has been nothing but nice to me.

    Buds Required

I really wish people would listen to these lyrics, without prejudice or pre-conceived notions. It's all about unity in the real way. Not the media driven, hate filled judgmental shit.
