  1. That's a great question. As of last week, parts of the official route were underwater. Will it dry up in the next two weeks?
  2. BSS has an online store. They invested well to do this. Who here buys from their online store? It's not just having an online store; it's being able to compete with online prices while not undercutting your brick-and-mortar prices.
  3. I guess most people don't support local shops anymore. I know stuff can be cheaper online, but what do you do when you need support or service?
  4. I rode a Trek Remedy for a few years and loved the suspension design, which it shares with the Fuel EX. Was the suspension set up properly for those who rode it? It should've been, but I'm curious. Trek incorporates what they call a full floater, which means that the rear shock is not attached to the main triangle like almost all the other bikes. The shock is attached to a rocker and point on the chain stays in front of the seat post. Due to this design, suspension setup is key. Also, was the Mino link set up for a 29er (low setting) or a 27.5 (high setting)? This makes a difference. Edit: Bicycle Sport Shop has their previous year demo bikes on sale now at Lamar. I know people love to hate BSS, but it's an employee owned local shop in business since 1984. And, yes, i work there.
  5. A couple of things: Electric assist bicycles are expensive, particularly e-MTBs. This will limit the number of people who buy one and especially ones who buy it as their only mountain bike. Next, who here commenting has any experience on an electric assist mountain bike? Or even simply an electric assist bike? I've ridden an e-assist mountain bike and owned an e-assist commuting bike. From my experience, someone with little to no mountain biking experience will learn shortly after the first turn that he cannot go all out all the time. Yes, one will be able to ride faster in many cases but not in technical or twisty terrain or on tight trails. In technical terrain, timing the assist of the motor with your pedal rotation to clean an embedded rock or ledge will require a different skill than on a standard mountain bike. Furthermore, trying to pull an e-assist bike up a ledge will be much more difficult than a standard bike probably resulting in one having to carry his bike up that feature. All this doesn't matter much, as here in central TX, most land managers do not allow e-bikes. For example, the City of Austin and Williamson County do not allow e-bikes on trails. Apocryphal as some make it sound, e-MTBs are not going to ruin the sport that is our lifestyle.
  6. How do I get on the list to help? FYI, I am chain saw certified through the Forest Industry Safety Training Alliance if more chain saw work is needed.
  7. Theses pads were worn for about 10 rides at Tamarack Resort one summer and never took a hard hit. Size medium on both.
  8. new in the packaging, which can be used as a carry pouch and wash bag.
  9. New in the box. Retails for over $65 on various sites.
  10. Used only once and still has stem mount attached. Worked very well. Includes all hardware that came with it. I bought a GPS unit and not longer need this.
  11. $25 new on Performance. Forged aluminum. Fits 31.8 mm or 26.0 mm (w/ included shims)
  12. New in the packaging. Fits 36T ring. Color: Black $31 on Amazon
  13. Nope, the reaction stems from 1.) knowing what work it takes to repair a trail after people used it when it was muddy, and 2.) knowing how land manager can use mountain bikers riding muddy trails to shut them down or limit their usage. We shouldn't give them any reason to even think about banning or curtailing mountain bikers.
  14. Good to meet you, Thomas and Brandon, and thanks for riding with me. That was fun. Let's do it again.
  15. I'm just gong to ride my bike to the 183A and Brushy Creek Trail intersection. I'll be at one of the two green benches. See you there.
  16. I might be able to meet at the 183A trail head at 7:30. If you see a maroon Ford Edge with a black Yeti, that's me. Otherwise, I'll be at Mulligan.
  17. Is this ride taking place tomorrow morning? I can meet at 8...maybe a little earlier.
  18. I'm surprised there is no thread about the event on here, though I might have missed it.
  19. Will the jersey be available in a mountain bike cut or just the road bike cut with the pockets in the back and an elastic waist band? Also, it would be badass in a long sleeve T-shirt. D
  20. Here's a rough update excluding the end of Inner Log Loop. D
