Got to witness that epic comeback by the Clippers last night but suspect it will be their last win of the series.
  2. Rode all of Deception, Picnic, Rim, and Snail. Superb conditions and great day to be out for a ride.
  3. One of my favorite duets ever recorded. Incredible power behind these voices on display starting at around 2:30. Funny though how Heather achieves it with intensity whereas Andrea achieves it through what I'm sure was a lifetime of training and conditioning.
  4. My new bike was only a couple of weeks old when I did something similar. While I can't speak for every shop / bike brand, my Bontrager Line Elite rim on my Trek Remedy from BSS was not covered, although BSS did give me a discount on the replacement. This is another advantage for carbon in my opinion, as most carbon wheel manufacturers have generous warranty / replacement. Even Trek offers a 2-yr free replacement on any of their carbon wheels that are damaged while riding. I'm going to ride with higher pressures for now, but eventually I'll be looking for a new carbon wheelset to replace these with. I've had countless rim strikes on my DT Swiss XMC1200s due to being lazy about checking my tire pressure, and after 2.5 years, they still ride like they did on day 1. And in that same span, I've only broken 1 spoke.
  5. Funny thing is, my fastest time of 17:09 was on a second lap and is a minute faster than the times when I was out there trying to hammer it. Last time out, having seen that the QOM was now 16:43, my worst Bobby Riggs' mentality kicked in and I gave it everything I had to get my best time possible. A male-female couple took off ahead of me and so I waited like 8 minutes to give them plenty of cushion. Well 3/4 of the way through I passed the female who was graciously standing on the side of the trail. Not sure if she was resting or saw me thundering up on her, but I was happy to speed past. Then as I was coming hard around a turn right before one of the bridges, I washed out and skidded on my knee and shin for several feet right in front of where the male rider was waiting on the side of the trail for his female companion. I of course hopped back on my bike like it was nothing, cringing in pain with every pedal stroke. He graciously asked if I was alright, and I replied that I was, which of course I wasn't. As I was "limping" across the finish line, I said to myself, "this used to be more fun when I wasn't trying to see how fast I could go".
  6. Would love to get a ride report and head out there with you soon on my new Remedy 9.8! I've got a size L (19.5") if you're looking for something to try out. Mine is a 2018, which has the thru-shaft shock but still uses the full-floater mount. They dropped the full-floater design with the 2019s.
  7. Exactly - and that includes when it's parked in my own front yard!
  8. My Trek Remedy 9.8 came with the Bontrager Line Elite 30 wheels, and I bent the rear rim in 2 places after around 4 rides out at Brushy. I'm getting it replaced with the same rim and will try to be more careful with my tire pressures. I'm around 192lbs riding weight and normally run around 26psi in the rear. Admittedly when the dings occurred I may have failed to recheck my tire pressures before heading out, but that's not unusual for me and has never led to problems with the DT Swiss XMC 1200 24mm internal carbon rims on my other bike. I'm thinking that those wider Line Elite 30 rims need a wider tire than the 2.4s that came on it. I'll probably put some 2.6 tires on it front and back before I start doing too much on it again.
  9. No problem - although I do recall my neighbor's car getting stolen a while back. By the looks of it though, he may have arranged that himself.
  10. I did 2 laps tonight and neither one registered the full PP 4.0. Every other time I've rode it, it registered, but not tonight. Not sure why but I did notice that I left my Bluetooth on, which is normally off when I'm riding. Not sure if that could have somehow interfered. Several of the segments recorded, but not the full laps Anyway, I took the first lap pretty easy and then was in full focus on the second lap and surely heading towards a sub 17m time when I washed out hard on one of the unbermed corners in the section where the wooden bridges are. Recovered quickly but my left knee was aching enough to keep me from pushing hard to the finish.
  11. Just for kicks I rode it tonight on my 27.5 long-travel bike and recorded my slowest time yet. Was still a lot of fun though. Might try to get back out there tomorrow for a PR on my every-day 29er. Traction should be improved after the light rain tonight.
  12. Anybody know if the original 7mi cross-country loop is still intact? I haven't been out there since they started putting in the enduro lines, but felt it was well worth the trip just going out to ride 3 laps of the original loop years ago. These days I'd probably take the longer back route from Cedar Park just to avoid the shit show on 620.
  13. I had similar thoughts this morning. Moved the rear shock on my Primer to the 115mm position, which I had never tried before, and also added air to both the shock and fork which left it riding really firm. I was pushing really hard and felt like I was going to beat my previous best time, but ended up a full minute off. Back to the drawing board!
  14. They haven't developed a big enough battery yet 🤣
  15. I finally hit that big rock going E-W - cleared it on my first try. Don't think I carry enough momentum to clear it from the other direction but may give it a try one of these days.
  16. I rode it E-W going down today. Nice addition!
  17. I scoped it out yesterday going W-E but didn't attempt it. That little step up on the original line there has actually gotten a bit tricky over the past year with the erosion. Heading back out now to see what kind of trouble I can get myself into!
  18. If it would make me ride like that, I'd have one tomorrow!
  19. Tell me about it - at 60 I'm getting breasts that I don't want!
  20. I ran two laps back to back with decent times and felt like I could have run a third at the same pace (17-18m per lap). I'm going to go back out and give it everything I have on a single lap, but it seems that all of the turns are what's slowing me down, not the amount of effort I'm putting in. If I had the skills to get through the turns quicker then I could probably push myself closer to exhaustion by staying in a harder gear and pedaling harder throughout.
  21. You might have finished quicker without your bikepacking setup. Be careful where you stop to consume meals - the savage scent of raw sewage out there can spoil your appetite.
  22. Too much paddling man! What kind of hand job did you get?
