  2. Thanks Cody. Now my office is at 183 / Oak Knoll so I’m 10 min from Yaupon. Do-able for extended lunch ride and we have showers. So anything close to Great Hills is probably what I’m after. Last time I did the dam loop w/Big View to city park rd to Courtyard was when we used to start at Cycle 360. So yeah, been a while! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. I suffered pretty bad in CO this summer and definitely need to spend more time on long climbs before a fall mtn trip. Mesa used to be my go to when I worked near Mesa/Spicewood but got buzzed a few too many time. So at first I was thinking Steiner Ranch Rd from Quinlan Park up to 620, but wasn’t sure how that compared to Yaupon. Definitely easier to get to from work than Steiner. 4. It should be a lot less hostile than up high on the whole enchilada. Like everything, fall/spring hard to predict in the mountains. Fruita you aren’t going way up a mtn so probably not too bad, Horse thief is a bit exposed but not as techie as the trail off it called Moore Fun. From what I’ve been told sort of depends on the trail in Grand Junction. I haven’t ridden much in that area. Over The Edge in Fruita is a great bike shop. I’d check in with them from the road. 5. I forgot Iron Mountain. 3 solid days of riding within 30-45 min from Hot Springs. Much less time in a car if you want remote and don’t want to drive all the way up to Bentonville. Iron Mountain is just south of Hot Springs on Lake DeGrey. West of Hot Springs the LOVIT is a new EPIC that runs along the south shore of Lake Ouachita from the dam west to near Mt Ida. Beautiful country in the fall. Then a little further west on the west side of Mt Ida is a classic, the Womble and you can throw in a bit of the Quachita trail if you want even more of an epic ride. 6. Either Grand Junction or Fruita if you skip Moab. The 18 road stuff in Fruita is great that you never get too far from your vehicle so you can keep riding up and taking a different trail down til you get enough. We did a morning loop on Horsethief Bench, had lunch in town then rode 4 or 5 runs on 18 road, joe’s, Kessel run, etc. til we were all whipped. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. If you want remote, hot springs area for Womble and the LOVIT. Always nice when the leaves are changing. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. We stopped there this summer. Spent the night in canyon and hit palo Duro on the way back from CO. Yep. Darn good coffee. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. Yep. Amazing the number of innovative design changes to all hydration packs after a real backpack company got into the market. Magnet clips for hoses, pockets in the waist straps, wide flat shoulder straps, chest strap. All on their first try. Now “borrowed” by the big guys. Good thing about the tool roll is you can easily take it out for trail use AND it’s easy to keep all the small tools together when I unload bike stuff for hiking or washing the pack. 10. I like my Salomon’s too. On my 3rd or 4th pair. My Shimano ME7’s have quick laces and a similar adjustment piece as Salomon’s and a tongue that completely covers laces and adjuster. No buckle to break like BOA’s. I constantly scrape my shoes on rocks. Broke several SIDI buckles. :( Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. No here’s a dude packing a whole roll of TP [emoji15] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. This is exactly why I think they shouldn’t be allowed on most trails. If you’re medically incapable of getting your ass out there under your own power, what the hell happens when the E-bike breaks? Who hasn’t had a mechanical that resulted in walking pushing your bike out. What happens to the boat anchor E-biker with health issues? SAR, EMS, PD...somebody has to go get his ass is what. Then we all catch crap about being a drain on wilderness resources, city services, etc. Very bad for the sport. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. Instead of TP I carry 5-6 baby wipes in a zippie bag, useful as intended and also cleans your hands if you have to jack w/greasy chain. I usually have a 5er in my pack for emergency convenience store stops and it makes a great tire boot if I don’t have a cliff bar wrapper. Ditto on the zip ties and a length of duct tape wrapped around an old golf pencil. NUUN tabs, I’ve given them to others on several occasions. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. Back in the day before the Tuesday SS ride became the R&I I joked with Anthony Sloan about riding his cross bike so I could keep up on my rigid SS. [emoji849] It was the time of year that it was a night ride, it was dusty as hell, which makes it sketchy if you’re not out front. I didn’t realize his cross bike was a Redline SS cross. Fool did everything including the drop to the creek on the southside most skip for the flow trail. There was lots of whoops, gut busting oh shit moments, but fool never ate it. Man that guy could ride a bike. RIP brother! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. Brainfart part 2. You can move the name to the top, slide the rider further down and do the standard star marking Austin’s location, then do the mountain squiggle to break up the RWB lines of the flag. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. I like the mountain line, but yeah, kinda defeats using the shape of TX in the lower half. If you want to keep the shape of TX, you can do the RWB Texas flag colors and make the mountain shape as the color break vs. the standard straight line. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
