  1. I decided to get back on the bike after a couple year break by going to Spider Mountain today. What a blast! Even if you're not a hardcore weekend rider, there's still plenty of room to grow. I've never downhill ridden before (at least not without having to pedal uphill at some point), so this was the fastest I've been on a trail so far. It was an absolute blast [emoji16] I was a little worried about my entry level bike holding up, but it seems like the new pedals and tires I got last week did the trick. Gloves helped too. I'm not normally a gloves guy, but they were certainly useful on that trail. Sent from my LM-G710VM using Tapatalk

  2. So, did it backwards for the first time today. It's awesome. How the hell did I never ride it that direction before?

  3. There is going to be a big trail race at Walnut tomorrow morning using quite a few different trails. It’s called ‘The Maze’ and they will be running between 5 and 50 k distances so expect to see runners out there all morning. If you have the option, pick a different trail to ride or wait until noon. 4. I do. I enjoy the challenge of a climb, a tight switch-back, pedaling over a rock garden, up a ledge, etc. I'm getting to the point where I'm enjoying hucks and little jumps and berms and such, and it's a lot of fun, but it's not all there is for me in MTBing.

  5. Yeah, there is something satisfying about having an expensive tool that does exactly what you need it to do.

  6. I just had to pull out my derailleur hanger alignment tool after I ate shit on the gravel bike yesterday. I invested in it about 6 months ago and have already used it 3 or 4 times, which would have been $90-120 in new hangers.

  7. I like gravity because i hate pedaling. Ill do it as a necessary evil because that's the only option here. If/when we live in a state with open travel again, I might buy a moto for expedition riding and camping etc. An ebike will never be an option for me as I can do way more with $10k, than ride around on a battery powered bicycle.

  8. This is a genuine question for gravity people and e-bike people that use them to go up and ride down at parks. Why not motorcycles instead? Is it a matter of places to ride motorcycles vs more places to ride bicycles? Are the reasons why there are fewer motorcycle parks the reasons why e-bikes may start affecting access to all bikes? I know there are some that do both, or have done motorcycles in the past.

  9. Adelberts was out of Flyin' Monks for a little while. Waiting for it to age.

  10. Did you introduce him to the NY school of go f@ck yourself🤣 Had this happen to me when i lived in NM. Its just infuriating and makes me want to drag someone off the trail by their face.

  11. My favorite is the Philosophizer, but my HEB stopped carrying it. It used to be that they always had Flyin' Monks, Philosophizer, Naked Nun, and Scratching Hippo.

  12. DH park derailleur failure. Spending the rest of the day chainless was a crash course in physics for sure😁
