  1. Not sure, are you referring to the massive amount of rain they got tis spring?
  2. Visiting Family in Tucson and my wife's cousin insisted that I take his bike for a spin. The trail He recommended was basically Suburban Ninja in Tucson, it was even called "Urban Assault" 😂
  3. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073RMHXC8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_i_FG8BNZ6FTGV5S5NQRB0F?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 This used to be helpful for small. Detailed tasks, now it's a necessity for doing PCBA work.
  4. 100% I'm not even that old but to stay active I find myself digging up more and more PT/PE exercises to avoid pain, especially from areas that have been previously injured. If someone hated Hondas because there's didn't last very long but they never maintained it you'd blame lack of maintenance. Plus older/ more high strung machines generally require more maintenance.
  5. As a bonus, NR Luminas can double as a mower light....
  6. Agreed, my ideal setup is a moderately bright, self contained handlebar light with a super bright helmet light with a remote battery. With just a handlebar light I can make through the trail but I'm not comfortable enough to ride very aggressive.
  7. For every gear below 12 you need at least one oil slick accessory/farkle.
  8. You guys are hacking the system and the Pinkbike users are coming for you.
  9. Yes, Lots of the "lollypop" trails and new hillside trails could probably be saved with some work as long as it stays blessed by the city/county. I could see them wanting to block them...? I actually really enjoy the straight featureless trail, it's one of the more scenic sections and its a good warmup/cool down for the S-N-S direction I usually ride it.
  10. Bummer, as well used as that will get, I will miss that south section of SN. It's a little slice of Texas in the middle of suburbia.
  11. My daughter and I tried to ride Sat PM. Trails were still tacky. No Ruts but collected on tires. We bailed after 1/4 lap of peddlers and rode the Brushy Creek Fishing Trails and H&B to 183 and back. I think the heavy dew and cool nights are really slowing the final bit of evaporation. I have a spot in my yard that I use to gauge the trails because my dog gets muddy paws going through it and it hasn't dried out either. It's like those rope weather stations:
  12. Thanks everyone, I think Erwin is the place for us. Looks pretty cool.
  13. Cross posted in MTBR but I thought I'd ask y'all too. I'll be visiting family around Christmas up, north of Lewisville Lake in Dallas. Exploring Trailforks I see a couple of trail systems within a short drive of where I am stating. It will probably end up being a father/ daughter ride with my kid on a 24" wheel bike. She likes rollers and banks and can walk anything too technical. Any recommendations? Anything I missed? 1) Erwin Park, Front Runner based on googling 2) Hartlee Field, hard to tell but looks pretty boring from google earth 3) Ray Roberts, a little far, but looks like lots of variety.
  14. You can't fool me, that's the floor.
  15. So this topic has been of some interest to me and I usually stay out of the mm discussions of reach, HT lenth, etc. because the hours I get in a saddle hardly qualify me as an expert. That being said, by chance I ended up with 175mm on my FS and 170mm on my HT. I switched them because of excessive rock strikes on the FS. I was shocked at how much difference it made, probably a 95% reduction in rock strikes and no noticeable increase on the HT. I can't say I notice anything other than placebo in leg effort but If anything I feel like I have less leverage on my FS now. Then I saw this, and I want 165mm on both bikes now...
  16. I ended up buying a RV Bumper hitch (which incidentally I'd never trust on the road) and bolting it to the back of my bike bench. It doubles as bike storage. I hung the new 2X rack (kids bikes are too big to fit in the car now) on the wall.
  17. Agreed... But... I have a suspicious feeling that this sounds a lot like the guy who said that carburetors were always going to be around and a computer on a car is idiotic. As an ME I have a low opinion on the thoroughness of software engineering on modem devices. It's way too easy to phone in the design and move in to production with a half baked ideas. I have loss count how many modern devices I've wanted to throw out the window for being absolute junk. #getoffmylawn
  18. Daughter wants to ride tomorrow am. What are the chances Peddlers or SN is dry enough?
  19. Thanks! My wife and I used her vinyl cutting machine to make the head tube sticker, Specialized logo and "wave" logo. I used a can of clear coat to seal the stickers.
  20. +1 for Spray.Bike, It's been holding up better than I expected and made a functional but tired looking bike look new!
  21. How are y'all storing your bike racks? I have a single 1UP and it folds neatly and stores anywhere. However, as my kids bikes have grown, gone are the days when I can wedge them in back of the SUV. I recently picked up a Yakima 2x tray rack and it folds flat but is still huge. I was thinking of a pulley system to the ceiling or hanging it on the wall. I've got a decent bike storage worked out but this rack is always in the way now.
  22. To late. As I understand it, one of the reasons we (Texas) have so little public land is that when we were the nation of Texas we were dirt poor and sold land to private owners to fund the country. This is why there are sooo many large ranches across the whole state. In comparison to states like AZ or WA, there is a ton of public land and very little private land, at least not like the hundred acre ranch type of private land that Texas has. At this point, the opportunity's to convert private acreage into parks is minimal.
  23. I had something similar happen and I brought my wheel and what was left of my spoke into the Peddler, they went through their stock until they found a match.
