  1. Suunto 9 Baro here. I use it because it does just about everything. Wrist and strap heart rate, displays heart rate zones, altitude, temp, built in GPS, steps, sleep tracking, recovery time, etc. I use a mount for the handlebars when riding and wear it all other times. Battery life is great too. I have it sync'd up with Strava and trainingpeaks. I do use a basic garmin 25 to load routes when I'm riding in a new location travelling or for things like gravel grinders to make sure I stay on track. If I had to choose one it would be the watch as I use it every day.
  2. I rode their earlier in the year and for me a big piece of why I enjoyed riding Bentonville so much was the combination of the town and trails. As far as the town is concerned there are lots of dining and drinking options, it's all walkable and the people were very friendly. Add in the aspect of being able to drop into smooth flow trails with fun features and connect that into a variety of other trails depending on what you want to ride from a difficulty standpoint. I think staying outside of the town would take away a big part of the enjoyment as you can only ride so many hours in a day.
  3. I had a set just like that built XM481 w/ I9 Hydra, DT comp double butted spokes and black brass nipples. I ended up ordering from Bicycle Wheel Warehouse because the price was too good to pass up. Looking right now they have a 30% off coupon on orders of 899 or more. I just built another set on their site and with the coupon the total price for the wheels would be 647.50. Makes me tempted to order another set for the SS. The wheels I had built are still true after ~1k miles including a day at Keystone, Spider mtn and weekly rides on 1/4 and DD at brushy so I'd say they're bell built.
  4. Same thing here. Skied for years and years to get to where I'm at skill level wise. Tried snowboarding and when I realized it was going to take a long time before I could ride the stuff I could ski easily that was the end of that.
  5. Thank you for clearing those out. that's a bad place especially when heading west and catching a bit of air going down into that creek bed. Major dick move by the person that put them there.
  6. Peaks Trail Breckenridge yesterday.
  7. In Colorado Springs there's always the USAFA Falcon Trail. I rode it last Aug on my way up to Breck. It's a fun ~13mi loop w/ 1,300 ft of elevation change that has a bit of everything. https://www.mtbproject.com/trail/269633/usafa-falcon-trail

  9. 👍 thanks that's good news as I'd like to hit some of the trails on Baldy above Sally Barber.
  10. Nice. I'll be there at the end of the month but am worried about the amount of snow they got this year. How are the trails looking?
  11. Exactly that's the spot. on an unrelated note I saw a hawk dive into my back yard this morning and haul off a snake so this is shaping up to be a snake filled summer.
  12. Just be careful. I rode right by this guy Wed night, didn't notice until I was right beside. It startled me a bit.
  13. 1/4 I think it's more difficult east to west than the other direction. DD I've only ridden east to west.
  14. Ditto. I can't believe I never considered the straight up approach but will try that next time.
  15. Yes there was one flat turn just west of the new side walk that was loose but overall I thought the trail was in great shape. FS 29er running 19psi front and rear, I pushed hard for me (mid 16's) all three laps and only had a couple of brief moments. Overall it was a great event so a huge thank you to all involved before and during the event.
  16. I've not noticed much difference but I've not pushed for a fast lap recently. I do however think the heat/humidity has impacted my exertion levels riding overall.
  17. LOL That would be me and I'm sure there were others. It's actually easier now than it was before.
  18. Nope neither but it was really random, only once or twice a year and only for a few seconds at a time. The only time I picked it up I was getting ready for a run with my HR strap on and it happened. When I looked at the graph it went from the 50's then jumped to around 200, back down to the 50's and the line from that point forward was normal during the run. In the 4 years that I've been supplementing with Mg it has yet to happen again.
  19. I had the same thing happen randomly pretty much all of my life but was told not to worry about it unless it was prolonged or regular since the Dr's were never able to observe it. Strangely the Dr's never considered magnesium deficiency. As soon as I started supplementing Magnesium to help with sleep/dreams it completely went away. Only then did I learn the two can be linked.
  20. I've come across several rat snakes on the Brushy path in the evenings and of course Mittens on 1/4 notch the summer before last.
  21. What I've heard is that steel provides more flex than aluminum which is more brittle thus needs to be stiff. Meaning steel takes the edge off of all of the small bumps and impacts you encounter out on the trails. However I've also read that this is dependent on the grade of steel used (cheap vs quality butted) and how the frame is designed.
  22. Just to muddy the waters further but the Carver 420 looks great and will run 650B or 29er....
  23. Thanks for the offer. I'll be in Xiamen for work arriving Sunday and flying out on Friday so other than the normal dinner and bars in the evenings I'm not going to see much. 😞
  24. LOL that'll be me this weekend but unfortunately I'm headed to China
  25. True my RHR is low but not zero that would be a bad day
