  1. How about one of these? GEO is good FS air front and rear. https://www.diamondback.com/atroz-3
  2. Wow! That's insane! That section is Dave's Ditch. I've been in there a few times it's a sketchy section when it's wet. I haven't been up in there in a long time due to all the standing water. Hope he recovers ok.
  3. 1/4 Notch was ok, BIG puddles in places. Picnic had standing water in many spots. With Picnic being so wet I assumed Peddlers was still no go.
  4. Need to have god open the sky like in a Monty Python skit. Would definitely be effective😂
  5. But how do you stop the Pagans?
  6. Open in big green letters and closed in big red letters. Would it be possible to add any authoritative verbiage to the signs to make it seem as if it were a parks decision?
  7. I like my RF Aeffect cranks with DM. It makes chain ring sizing much simpler and reduces weight. Most chainring manufacturers make DM rings for these cranks. Pros of DM less weight easier to get chainline correct, cons you have to remove crank arm to swap rings. Unless you go with a system like the Wolftooth camo.
  8. Too many riders don't have their helmet straps adjusted properly. I know I know... the strap bothers my chin, it itches my cheeks whatever. You wear a helmet for a reason if it's improperly fitted there's no point in wearing one. An improperly fitted helmet can actually be worse than not wearing one at all due to the fact that during a crash there is the possibility of it snagging on something and potentially causing a serious neck injury or like in the still shot where he's taking a dirt sample the helmet gets pushed back exposing his forehead. Your helmet should rest just above your eyebrows, your chin strap should be tight enough to only get one finger under it and the retention system should be snug around your head not allowing much movement. It's ironic that we'll spend the extra cash for a MIPS helmet and then proceed to wear it the wrong way. And yes he should absolutely be wearing a full face for this style of riding. It looks like the shoes and pedals held up fine.
  9. What model version XTR brakes are they? I have XT on both my bikes one set of 785 and the other 8000 series. The 785's are easier to bleed and give a much firmer lever feel than the 8000's. The 8000's can be a PIA to bleed due to the small reservoir and never feel as firm as the 8000's. For some reason the design of the 8000's make them prone to having trapped air somewhere in the system. I use a two syringe method for bleeding, forcing fluid up to the lever from the caliper. Tapping on the caliper and lever helps also getting the caliper in the lowest point helps too. Sometimes leaving the reservoir open and clamping the lever with a zip tie or rubber band around the lever for a few hours helps too. I also noticed with the 8000's that when the pads get worn the lever can have a some what spongy feel.
  10. I'm with Rugger "BUILD A WALL". if we can't get funding I say we shut down the trail until we do!
  11. I'm with ATXZJ. I'm not opposed to coughing up some money to a viable solution, being as Brushy is my home trail.
  12. I believe the problem that we as conscientious riders face is that most of the offending riders do not belong to any local MTB community, therefor they are not aware of how riding wet trails effects/impacts the trail systems we have. We also face the constant inflow of people from different regions were riding wet trails may not have been an issue. Than there is the issue of entitled assholes who will do whatever they want whenever they want just because. Oh and lets not forget the riders on Walmart bikes who just don't know any better. This will always be a case of shoveling shit against the tide. I see trail cuts in many places there were never any before. I've blocked some of these multiple times only to see them reopened next time I ride. Unfortunately Brushy is slowly becoming the tangled nightmare that Walnut is. I don't really see any effective way to stop this. I saw a guy yesterday with a FS bike on the back of his grey Highlander pulling into the soccer field parking lot yesterday, I highly doubt he was going there to just ride the hike and bike.
  13. Count me in! I've got a blackjack and billy club from the '40's!
  14. I've got a couple of Nobby Nic 27.5x3.0's if anyone is interested.
  15. It appears he got what he needed from Mojo.
  16. Here's Orange seal being peeled from inside of one of my tires. Completely dry inside, tire would lose a little air over time but no flats.
  17. Where you been? We were worried sick about you:)
  18. Not surprised it's Harley Davidson. A truly soulless corporation.
  19. I truly hope you're not looking your doctor in the eyes when he gives you a prostate exam
  20. The Rocket Ron and Racing Ralph were the worst tires I've ridden for around here. I don't know how the plus Nobby Nics are because I very quickly lost interest in plus size tires, but I can say that the 29x2.35 Nobby Nics have held up better than any tire I've used for brushy creek.
  21. A couple of reasons pro tour road riders use clipless are for a more round pedal stroke which increases efficiency and saves energy for the long power stretches needed in road racing. Also when climbing, I'm not implying that the upstroke produces power when seated but when you're out of the saddle climbing that's when you can pull on the upstroke which engages different muscles than when seated. Physically we aren't built to produce much power on the up stroke when pedaling. Think about your arm strength when lifting weights you can't curl as much weight as you bench press same goes for legs, basically the same movement. Clipless on a mountain bike just isn't as effective as on a road bike because we generally don't spin at high cadences for long stretches. I'm not saying that it's good or bad or right or wrong it's just personal preference. I rode road bikes for most of my life either with toe clips or clipless pedals. When I started MTB I tried clipless but it just wasn't the same as road. I actually felt less connected to the pedal due to the fact that clipless pedals have a degree of float to help protect your knees. After riding grippy flats with grippy shoes I realized I don't lose that much power through the entire stroke and it felt more comfortable to me. Clipless are a benefit in some situations such as really rough sections at speed but don't really help you develop good technique for MTB such as bunny hopping or learning to keep your heels down to weight your pedals. Let's all remember heavy feet light hands. This is just my personal opinion. You guys can ride whatever you want.
  22. As far as sign maintenance goes they don't even maintain the signs that they installed for the hike and bike that point out natural features. I would think if we want signage it would be up to us to install and maintain. As far as the county being overburdened with upkeep, I don't know that I've ever seen any upkeep actually being performed at brushy. Aside from cleaning the hike and bike when we get a real turd floater rain.
  23. Nice! A couple of cigar box guitars!
