  1. Not on your list of options but I use this when I don't have a 1 Up on the truck. https://www.saris.com/product/traps-triple A while back I installed a tonneau cover which comes in handy when I want to park up in a public place and conceal the bike.
  2. Rest assured that no trail-work of any kind takes place in preparation for the EB.
  3. I don't recall the root drop ever being a part of it, but I wasn't around in the pre-Strava early days. A mystery lost in the mists of time and the chasms of Thumper, perhaps.
  4. I'm good with the standard Tuesday loop starting from the terminus end of the concrete path, minus Windy and BMX. No need for Endo or Root Drop, but no one's going to hold it against you if you do em -- unless you're planning on a Top Ten finish, I guess. Sorry if the GPS file says something else - it's from a year, maybe two, ago, and trails were in flux back then. If you've gotten thru Thumper and made it back to Walnut, no one's going to hold a different loop of the Nut against you! I'll be out there later today (sans rain) making sure we have a clear run up to the exit to Shady Springs. Join me if you wish, Barry!
  5. Sadly, not the only one recently. https://www.espn.com/olympics/skiing/story/_/id/27754829/canadian-ski-cross-racer-mikayla-martin-dies-mountain-bike-accident Maybe they’ll put on an annual event to commemorate Jordie. I was able to participate in McGazzafest (Kelly McGarry) in Queenstown earlier this year - it was pretty cool to see maybe a thousand riders gathered at the top of the lift to form the Mega Train, and lots of activities over the weekend to benefit various mtb projects.
  6. A treasure, indeed. He didn't donate it, though - it was a Travis County bond election - one of the few I was very much in favor of. Thank fuck the warbler idiots didn't grab it from under us. What Milton DID do, was turn down numerous high dollar offers from the greedy developers. RIP, Sir.
  7. I've been pretty happy with Light & Motion over the past few years. More so than other companies, I think they are building brighter LED lights and superior battery capability into one-piece bar or helmet mounted lights. A favorite is the Trail 1000, although they make brighter ones. There's also a way to get a 30% off coupon for two lights if you are associated with a team or club (not sure if Mojo will count).
  8. We took our bikes to the South Island of New Zealand earlier this year - Air New Zealand: Houston - Auckland - Queenstown. Bikes in Evoc bags, business class seats - zero charge. Plus, the wife's tires got a free wash going thru bio-security in Auckland.
  9. Agreed. My experience with Stephenson is that if you are a polite social rider, riding alone or perhaps with one or two other polite social riders -- no issue. Go flying through with a group of fifteen as though you own the place, and you'll get different feedback.
  10. The 520+ has built-in mapping - enough to get you around anywhere in the US. It also has off-course warning technology. So what you have to do, is to tell it what you are riding, so it can tell you if you're on course or not. Install Garmin Connect on both your (modern) laptop and your phone. Connect the phone to the 520+. Use Connect on the computer to to add the GPX course you want to ride. Sync the phone to the Garmin. Do not attempt ANY of the above using an Atari 2600 or lower.
  11. What's that hanging to the left of the 12-string?
  12. Please keep us posted - the EB is Sat, Oct 19, and it would be handy to know ahead of time if there are any possible trail closures. Thanks!
  13. I’ve sort of been following along - will any of the repair work be on the concrete path which runs through Balcones Park, and will the path be closed while repairs take place?
  14. I'm glad to hear Spinistry is upping the post-ride game a little.
  15. I like that he replies to almost every post we make. Does he know we don't see those posts -- or in his post-apocalyptic vapid world, devoid of empathy and neuro-matter .... does he just not care? I am tempted to agree with those before me - perhaps only Bartman, with his advanced knowledge of the female form, can help us here.
  16. My 27.5 Tallboy is very similar in geometry to a Trail 429. Take it for a spin if you want to.
  17. Indeed they are - although sadly, this will be lost on our overly sensitive friend.
  18. One of the now-hidden thread titles had something to do with a fence at Walnut. Perhaps our fellow will show up to R&I! I do recall inviting Bartman to join us at R&I a few times - he never showed, though.
  19. Damn, no shit! I just spent a happy 10 minutes ignoring 50% of the posts on this thing. Sure hope our needy douche shows up to R&I sometime, given his / it’s familiarity with Walnut.
  20. I’ve a 142 rear rim just sitting here, if you want to try it. Stan’s Flow with a Hope hub, pretty sure it used to have an 11 speed cassette on it.
  21. It’s like the entire forum exists just for one person. I wish all the nonsensical threads he starts could also be hidden.
