I’ve been wrenching on my bikes since I was in high school, learning as I went along like you. I’ve been a wrench at Cycle Progression now and currently wrench on other people’s bikes out of my garage. As long as I have the right tools, I can tackle it. The internet (and Park Tool) made it way easier to learn, but there is a certain mechanical aptitude that helps when you can’t just google your way out of a problem. Working on bikes is kind of like meditation for me, so I enjoy the tinkering and taking the time to do it. I’m also happy to take a look at any issues if you come across them. Just did a spoke replacement and wheel tru, tubeless tire install, brake install with bleed, and headset overhaul in the past couple of days with another brake install waiting in the garage. There’s definitely a demand out there. The hard part these days is sourcing replacements! Take of your gear people! You might not be able to replace it for months! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I gave my 800 bars a solid year before cutting them down…all the way to 790! I might cut them down again another 10mm. You can always cut more off, you can’t really add it back on as easily. I like them wide, I just need them fit between the treegates. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You’re right, can’t keep my ‘tubers straight. I just know Nate Hills has some serious technical chops and it would be cool to see him ride here. Although the stuff I would like to see him ride would be trails I wouldn’t exactly want to be publicized. I think my favorite youtuber vid of Austin so far has been Jeff Kendall-Weed’s. It’s hard to know how serious he was about how stoked he was. But I am glad that finally some of the bigger youtubers are getting a taste of BCGB instead of just hitting Spider MTN. But as we all know, Wes just dipped their toes in to the water here. I’d love to see a FollowCam Friday from BKXC hit some of the gnarlier sections of the Greenbelt. The Outbound Lighting Trail EVO light has it's own on board battery, but it's also able to run off of any supplemental battery you have but plugging it in to the light's USB-C port. That's something no one else is doing. You could potentially fill your camelbak with all of those freebie cellphone battery backups and run your light for days, or use whatever battery packs you already have as long as they have a USB plug. The USB-C plug makes a water resistant connection to the light as well.

I would offer up my old Specialized Rime Experts, but TheX's shoes are in way better condition. Not to say my Rime's aren't good, the Boa Dials still work all, but the velcro straps are a little worn and they're not as pretty as they once were.

I can confirm, I use one of those Shenke lights. They're awesome. The beam is a nice and even spot. I bought them for my sons to use on their bikes as well for when we take evening rides. On my helmet, I've switched to using an Outbound Lighting Hangover light. It's self contained and the beam pattern is awesome. I still run the Shenke on the bar in addition to another cheap amazon light (the knock off Glowworm/Lumina). I'm probably going to swap it out for the Outbound Trail Edition or Trail EVO. Nothing wrong with the Amazon lights, they're a great value. I just wanted to treat myself last fall.

I’ll trade you my Ripmo V1 frame for your V2 frame. It’s a little less travel and a slightly steeper head tube angle. I selected the Ripmo for the same reasons as you did. At the time, I was expecting to be hitting Spider Mtn, Bentonville, and other possible big bike ride locations around the country while still needing something that could fly around WC on a Tuesday night. This bike fits every bit of that bill. While it’s favorite place is BCGB, it still does great pedaling “the easy trails”. That being said, the Ripley is an equally great bike. I have heard this rumor as well. In! …and a huge thank you to all the people who have put in time maintaining WC. The trail improvements have had a noticeable impact in how quickly the trail drains and how quickly the trail is dry enough to ride after a rain. Go rip up Slaughter Pen. All the trails are shorter loops that can basically be linked off of All American now. There’s enough fun flowy stuff mixed with classic single track, mixed with jump opportunities to get a taste of what NWA riding is all about. Camelbak Skyline LR. lower center of gravity, very comfortable, enough pockets for tools and nutrition, somewhat cooler, a bit of a pain to fill the bladder (mainly the struggle to stuff it back in the pack). I don’t use it for Tuesday Night rides except for maybe peak furnace conditions. But it’s a great pack for bigger BCGB days. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Raw frames still have a clear coat applied even if it’s a matte finish. It serves as a UV protectant. I would cover the main areas exposed to debris kicked up from your tires at minimum. Just get matte material if your frame is matte. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
