  1. Honestly though, you can't really do a quiet ride of a crowded Walnut anyway. It's always: "Hello." "Three more back." "On your left." "Excuse me." "Thank you!" "What a cute Aussie!" "You know this is the on-leash side, right?" "Just me." "You're all clear, thanks." "No problem, you're fine" ...and on and on.
  2. I admit it. I'm a bit of a talker. It seems to annoy no one but my wife though. Perhaps this is a good occasion to work on your listening skills?
  3. I'm running 27.5 x 2.6 Rekons on Santa Cruz R37 rims with HuckNorris. I am murder on rims, but I haven't felt a significant rim strike in 1000 miles. I've had a few small ones, but no rim dings and no pinch flats, which is huge for me. I also haven't so much as tightened up a spoke. Historically I run 28-30psi on 2.4 and 2.5 Minions and rim dings and pinch flat like mad. Lately: Walnut: 17-18 psi. Brushy and BCGB: 21-23 psi. Goodwater: 23-24 psi (but it was an all out pace)
  4. Yeah, it's an issue. If you study the current 4.0 leader board closely, you can see the start and stop locations are sometimes suspect. For example, I'm pretty sure my time should have been reported in the 15:15-15:20 range instead of 15:06. Comparing my time to Todd's, he jumps out of the gate with a huge 20 second lead. Then at the end I jump back at his time with a 35 second jump! Both of these are likely glitch start/stop locations on my data or his data or both.
  5. I assume that's static. So if you run the same % sag (20%?), then that's effectively no AC change.
  6. I can't get the Reveille Peak Ranch experience at BCGB or SATN or Emma Long. I can't get the Flat Rock Ranch experience at Walnut or Brushy or 4C. I don't have to be tired of the local pizza to want to the "you have to order a day in advance" pizza that I can only get in Comfort.
  7. Nope. There's wrong and there's wrong and then there's this.
  8. As of last summer (after the enduro lines were built) the very good xc course was still there. But it had become a clusterfk to follow, since the enduro lines cross through much of it.
  9. Also, wtf not? Why eat anything else when pizza is so good!?
  10. If you like long rocky technical, go wit Pedernales. If you like jumps and such, go with FCCR. Or if you like both, and have $16, do both.
  11. That's awesome. And it's great that the MTB thing is working out for him, since he was too young for his true calling of 70's porn actor.
  12. I'm getting pretty tired of these stupid blue flowers!
  13. Same spot? Hard to say, but maybe not. Mine is just before you cross WW Cannon Dr.
  14. It's a fun rock crawl. I certainly have no interest in jumping off the thing. I used to roll over it blind each time coming from the backside direction. But last June I started finding the rock placement unpredictable. I rolled up to find the main backside rock rolled out more than 12" as shown. I just pulled back and somehow managed roll it out without breaking my wheels nor my no OTB rule.
  15. Yeah, the other side of that rock has been a suprise for a while. Here it is from another prospective with less than ideal backside support.
  16. My schedule is looking good for a 4:30 lap and probably a second one as well.
  17. When I was out there Friday, the left by pass was blocked, but the right by-pass was clear. I remedied the right one at the time, but these unblockers work fast.
  18. I can attest to the fact that poison ivy is out. I don't recall it happening, but it got me but good. Be careful on the south side.
  19. Ah, see, that wouldn't have occurred to me. I don't need a cooler for my whisky.
  20. Looks like enough room for a few folding chairs on the B line.
  21. Interested enough to hang out on a busy day and watch? Interested enough to put up a webcam (that'd be awesome)? Or only interested enough to make the comment?
  22. I have some business this evening. So while I'll be out there for a little while, I'll be doing my own thing.
  23. I haven't seen a decent DIY version. Mostly I'd be afraid it would absorb sealant I run Huck Norris and it was $60 for the pair from Jenson. The description is confusing and makes it look like you need 2, but they come as a pair. And the packaging doubles as a silly plastic fender. The reason I chose HN was weight and ease of set up. So far I'm really liking them. During the Sidewinder portion of the DM, I noticed that my rear tire had gotten quite low. I wanted to keep going, so I long fought the urge to add air. Well I ended up taking a few really decent square edge hits before deciding to give up and add air. But no snakebites and no rim dings. And here is that silly fender on my monstertour:
  24. I'm just sad my favorite slingshot spot is gone. I still have a good one at Brushy on DD...for now.
