  1. Out of curiosity, what sources do you consider "much better"? Which ones might tell a different story?
  2. Overlook? The gate is locked and there’s a sign posted. I saw it as I drove by. Best bet is to park outside cedar breaks.
  3. So far, I’ve met folks from San Antonio and Dallas. Not too far, but they had to make a weekend trip out of it.
  4. I had noticed that someone had laid branches across the trail at certain intersections. Not very big branches. But, easy to notice. Helped me make a loop out there.
  5. The easiest way is to park in the church parking lot. Then go toward the fire station. You’ll see a Jeep road off to your right. Take that Jeep road and you’ll see a singletrack trail that goes off to the right. It’s not easy to see. But, once you find it, you’re on the right track! It’ll take you to the top of the jump line. As far as from sub ninja....it depends on where you’re coming from. It’s hard to explain. Easier for someone to show you. Sorry. Maybe someone has a better suggestion.
  6. 250 with race gear. There’s no regulation of race gear. Take care of yourself. Add what you must. I have no issues with beating you “lightweights”!! Bring it on!! I just want to be competitive! Let’s have fun!!
  7. They just had a $100 gift card for $75. Or, a $50 gift card for $40. Expired dec 3rd at midnight. You might want to keep your eyes peeled for another discount. It’s usually totally worth the money!
  8. Heck yeah! I WILL sign up for this event! Looking forward to racing against my fellow competitors with “dad bods”!! Looking forward to it!!
  9. RHR race will be Sunday. Peddlers will be Saturday. I don’t know if that helps....
  10. Speaking as a “bigger” guy who enjoys riding and would love some competition....what are the chances of having a heavy weight class? A few folks mentioned a tandem class last time, and a tandem class appeared. I know there’s quite a few guys that are 250+ on this forum that would love to compete! But, my 280+ body will never beat a 150lb dude in my age group. A “husky” class might be appropriate. It might motivate us heavier guys to train. I know I would sign up for it! Any other bigger guys interested? Just a suggestion....
  11. I’m amazed how many signs are still up on peddlers pass from the time trial. Makes me think, “how could anyone possibly go the wrong way?” Yet, today I encountered a couple of guys going the wrong way on the west side of parmer. I didn’t say anything to them since they looked like newbies. Guess I should’ve. The son (I assume) was bailing out, walking across the final berm coming out of the west side. I slammed on my brakes, skidding to a stop. He never looked my way. What is the tactful way to tell someone they’re going the wrong way? I assume they got on the trail somewhere toward the middle (there isn’t much signage on the west side).
  12. Suburban Ninja was perfect this afternoon. Just sayin.....
  13. I second this. I usually aim for the dog being that they’re quicker at getting out of the way. Unless it’s a little fluffy dog.
  14. There’s a group ride at Walnut Creek Sunday mornings. They split up into different groups according to skill level. Might want to look at meetup.com. There are rides listed on there as well.
  15. What a crap show. 1/4, picnic and peddlers are too muddy. I put the chain up across peddlers entrance.
  16. My wife got a specialized seat that the seat guru at BSS recommended. Something about women specific design that was wider for the wider sit bones. She hasn’t used the gel cover thing since.
  17. Rode peddlers again today. Liked it even more today. There wasn’t any mud. No water in the rollers. The berms seemed smoother/faster. It’s getting better every time. Got a PR also. I’m impressed with all the work that’s been put into it. Good stuff!!
  18. I didn’t like it the first time I rode it. The berms were not near what I expected. It was bumpy. Still had lots of rocks. I was a little disappointed. But, I’ve ridden it a couple of times since then and, it’s settling in. Lines are starting to develop. Turns are smoother. It really starting to make sense. Give it some time. Wait a little bit and try it again. I wasn’t blown away at first. But I’ve liked it better every time I’ve ridden it.
  19. When I saw the sign here, my eyes were drawn to the “turn back now”. That in itself would make me stop and read the sign.
  20. When I fail to get a reply from other riders, I simply shout “doing fine. And you?” as they ride away. I dunno if they hear me or care. But, it makes me feel better.
  21. Does anyone have any pics from the workday they can post? I didn’t think to take before and after pics of the berms we built. I didn’t have a chance to go look at what everyone else did. And I haven’t had a chance to get back out there.
  22. Sounds like he got himself a new bike. And he was pissed when you weren't impressed. Some people.... Glad nobody got hurt.
  23. Did he ever show you his bike and the damage? Or, did he just track you down to yell at you?
