  1. They use wood to absorb some of the shock, I would stick with wood. to get the shaft out, drill into the remaining part and pull
  2. shimano was only 10% off, but sram and kmc were 30% off (quicklinks and chains).
  3. lots of things are 30% off. They are getting into good deal territory. For example their nutrition was always pretty reasonably priced. At 30% off they are a good deal.
  4. I saw a financial model and they are very viable Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  5. It is a usac fun event. Would he be allowed to participate Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  6. would lance armstrong be able to ride it?
  7. The better you are as a rider the faster (less aggressive) a tire you can ride. The DHF mentioned above is a slow knobby tire. If you can ride a less aggressive tire, then you should, at the very least you should on the rear. When I started I ran a hans dampf on the front which is about like the DHF/DHR and an ardent on the back. Right now I like a nobby nic 2.3 on the front and an ikon 2.3 on the back. There are european online sites that have tires like schwalbe for about half the msrp. Definitely dont pay list for tires. Sometimes the tires ive gotten have been the ones that are about the right aggressiveness, but are on sale.
  8. even peddlers is probably too hard for a first time rider. When I started riding for the first time since college, I rode on the road around 10 times. Do not underestimate the importance of just getting basic balance. I would stick to the BCRT or north/south walnut creek trails
  9. lol you need a "bikes I broke blog" Could even just do it on MTBR
  10. helicopter tape plus seths kydex protectors
  11. Bought some boost hubs and it turns out I dont own any boost forks. This is for my daughters bike, so dont need anything really pricey.
  12. Just updating this. Was able to ride trails twice in the last week. Then it rained against last night. Kickr is definitely keeping up a base level of fitness for me. Last EB training ride I did I was much more easily able to ride up jester/courtyard/far west. Still not in good shape, but not terrible, still highly recommend. Zwift is ending up being incredibly boring. Im now just setting erg mode (the app sets the required power output and the trainer adjusts the resistance) and watching TV. Software like trainer road doesnt have a virtual world, but has a lot better training programs, so I might switch. The virtual world is turning out to be completely uninteresting.
  13. el gato was a little slick, but overall good to go.
  14. the free market is not failing, the issue for affordability is # of units (supply). The bottleneck for supply is the city. 1) zoning which prevents density 2) neighborhoods able to block more dense use of property (NIMBY) 3) extremely long permit times (e.g. 6 months) which increase cost of development 4) lots of environmental regulations that add significantly to the cost of development If the city would define areas where density was allowed, rules could be relaxed, and add staff to process permits faster, you would immediately see inventory go up. Amazingly it would cost taxpayers almost nothing The nimbys blocked code next because they dont want *any* multifamily in their neighborhoods.
  15. corpus is one of the best places to learn in the country. Best time is in the spring when the wind is constant every single day. Once you get good you can kite on lake travis, granger, pflugerville, belton, buchanan etc you can bring a bike in case you get skunked and go ride nearby trails.
  16. this is an el nino year, it was predicted to be rainier than usual. http://929nin.com/winter-weather-forecast-texas-oklahoma-2018-2019/ I kitesurf and this has been an above average year for kitesurfing. On days when it isnt windy I can ride. Maybe take up kitesurfing?
  17. there is some good stuff in there for bike trails, so hopefully we will see continued expansion and connection. With e-bikes dropping in price I predict a lot more people will be able to bike commute, especially on dedicated bike lanes that dont intersect with cars at all.
  18. Actually asking for a friend. I suggested smuggler, he is leaning towards sentinel. He is coming from a stache Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  19. What work needs to be done. Happy to do brush clearing and weed whacking Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  20. i have a red heeler, she is a great trail dog. She also barks at anyone coming to the house. Even at 11 she still loves to run the trails and can mostly keep up.
  21. how about sentinel vs smuggler for austin trails + spider mountain?
