  1. Alternative, used racer x frames are 200-300 on eBay...
  2. call Tim at cycle East he was the rebuilder for cycle progression and is The Man behind two six labs
  3. Yep. Sag was the major.motivation actually. The lefty likes 25-30%. At 30% I only had two ish inches of travel, now I have three ish.
  4. Went the opposite direction. Went to a booted lefty, due to ease of repair and maintenance. 2010 max 140. For less than the price I was quoted for an oil change on the 1.0, I had this one rebuilt with new bearings, races, air piston, seals, etc and reduced to 110mm. Pretty cool that I go from 90 to 110mm with only a 5mm AC change.
  5. Two hacks make a whole, or something like that. I bet we can figure it out.
  6. So many changes in the MTB world in the last 18 years, a new bike will blow you away. I've got a whole extra rear end for my wife's 2009 Racer X Carbon, all in the hope of making it last as long.
  7. Well if your racer x is that old, it's time for a new bike.
  8. I guess if you want a new bike. that should be a 7.875 by 2.0 stock which is stupid common and can be had like new for under two hundred bucks. I literally just replaced the rp23 on my wife's racer x with a 2017 monarch and it's fantastic again.
  9. Mtb related. I need to reduce the OD of a king headset bottom plate by almost a mm. So the bearing race mounted on the steer tube will clear Lefty clamp for quick removal. Shouldn't take but a few minutes if anyone has a contact, I'd appreciate it.
  10. Lifetime warranty from a company that is only 2 years old is not really something to bet the bank on. But if you must have carbon, perhaps worth if to go with we are one, as long as they are around.
  11. I threw an old king on it and got it working again. Nothing to see here.
  12. I know there are a handful of folks in town with vinyl/laser printers, anyone doing one off transfer decals? Looking some custom frame/fork decals.
  13. Looking for the lower half of a headset, gently used, sealed bearing. I'll buy the whole thing off of you, but if all you happen to have is the lower then all good too. My lefty conversion has an oddball headset on it and the lower died recently. Due to the spacing on the lefty I need a not too tall headset, so have about 14mm of stack height available for the lower.
  14. I ended up just getting a small one. Size and weight make it easier to get used to it. Maybe do some rides without a full bladder.
  15. The SS hub has a proprietary design though also works with the standard style lock ring. The normal geared hub works with standard lockrings, though king does sell their own too. My guess is the cassette slid on and you tightened it less than design torque and the cassette and spacers compressed in with time, narrowing the whole assembly. Certainly possible if portions of the cassette are pinned together. Just reassemble and torque it, it'll be fine.
  16. The cog retainer on a new to me CK SS hub backed off on a ride last week. That was a first for me. I pulled out the torque wrench and put it back on, but will probably go to blue loctite if it doesn't stay tight.
  17. When I start feeling risky I watch the weekly PinkBike Friday Fails video on YT, That reminds me how much I dislike hard crashes.
  18. The Triangle. Those eventually got folded into the main trail system, or at least made more legit. The entrance used to be by the arboretum and required you to ride through the drainage culvert then up a sweet, slick, steep climb followed by the best flowing stuff out there. I grew up living along the bayou at Memorial and the beltway and cut my teeth riding bikes on the anthills, well before I knew what mountain biking was. I remember my first summer back from college where I'd bought my first real MTB (Voodoo Zobop URT with Magura HS33 brakes!). I rode the Anthills 2-3 times a week and twice on weekends. The first place my wife and I ever road together. It'll be missed. It'll be back.
  19. 1. Do or do not do, there is no try. If it intimidates me, I usually skip it anyway. Wet elephants butt, etc 2. Root drop. Granted I've only ridden WC a few times in the last 8 years, but root drop just looks worse to me now, so I skip it. 3. ledgy goat trail (slow and technical) and long sweeping follows the contour stuff
  20. Just watched the video this afternoon, seems like an epic ride. Any clue as to the safety of getting there?
  21. Looking for a straight steer fork, ideally a fox or RS Reba. Happy to do a rebuild, etc, just need good stanchions to start with. 7" steer tube or so. "
  22. Got one laying around? looking for the 2014-2018 model.
  23. My experience with USPS and international, I bet it is sitting in the US waiting to go through customs. I've typically seen stuff not get scanned till after it clears customs and is ready to go to the local dist center.
  24. Do you do your own services? Need to sort this one out and don't want to spend $100 to send it in.
