  1. Need to run something narrower on my son's bike (700currently). Looking for something I can cut down till he gets bigger and these can go back on. #2010wide
  2. This is going to be the case with all brakes. They should be bled with the master cylinder piston retracted as far as it will go. Even if that means throwing off your normal brake lever position for a few minutes while you do the bleed.
  3. Probably wise. Raining here at the park. Light and sun is out. But maybe a bit too much.
  4. Strange weather bubble. Just driving through the area for work and braker Lane West of Kramer soaked absolutely drenched standing water everywhere. But east of Kramer bone dry
  5. Looking for a bike for a friend of mine. Lives in Durango backs up to 30 mi of trail, but isn't really a serious rider. I'll be up there in a month so thought I would try to find something to bring him. Complete bike, frame, frame/fork, whatever you have that is taking up space. Don't worry about cleaning it up or tuning it until sell. He is 6'1, so probably a large frame, though a medium could work. He is on a 15yo medium 26" bike now, so anything is an improvement.
  6. Of course this is the first week I have child care covered and it rains.
  7. I have in the past. But normally if I don't dip, but get my head wet and maybe my shirt. I've not had that kinda ride yet this year.
  8. I think Reimers is alright as you get good airflow out there. Pacebend was wicked hot the other day, tree cover is too dense and even though it is not a bowl, the airflow is low. But with both you can always take mid lap swims if you want. I think level of difficultly is also important to figuring out risk. WC is pretty easy, there are no sections that are going to make you work hard for long enough to blow out. But someplace like Mt. Lakeway, you could be climbing for long enough that the heat really gets to you. As Antonio said, same with Thumper. As a COA employee, I'll tell you, getting your council member involved is often the most effective way to get something done. For WC picnic tables, maybe reaching out to YOUR member but also Leslie Pool (CM 7). Ask about picnic benches out there. Also ask if there is a way to fundraise for them if that would help. And the pools, that is a function of Covid, but not the current risk. When they would normally do their hiring fair in the spring, Covid prevented it, so they didn't have the chance to hire enough lifeguards. Also some pools are still F'd from the freeze. Add to that the larger issue in Austin of lower paying jobs not being filled ANYWHERE, at least until the federal unemployment ends this week.
  9. Anyone here an HVAC tech? I have a ducted mini that I installed but need a tech to charge it and start it the first time.
  10. The Joy of Bike guys recommend against it, but I think for a drop that is theoretically rollable, wheelie dropping is reasonable. Particularly if you have decent forward momentum at the same time.
  11. So you know the places I ride now, without progress. Last week rode Reimers and Pace Bend and basically decided to just send it on all the ledgy stuff. I don't know what was different, but I felt less concerned with it out there (helps to not be on goat trail on the side of a steep hill). Then riding back at my normal stuff this week, getting sendy. Not talking gaps and such, but 18-24" ledgy stuff just jumping not rolling. I will say, I am on the SS and have for years played around a lot with manualing and wheelie dropping stuff. As I have gotten stronger this year, it has gotten progressively easier to pop and the timing has gotten more natural. Looking at the comment from Mack above, that is a huge part of clearing obstacles, up or down.
  12. AB said with the cranks horizontal the far point of the oval would point at 4:30/10:30.
  13. So, without actually focusing on it, I have been progressing on this one. Less on the really tall stuff (Jock), but more on the jump off it stuff. It took riding at different places to get better at it. I rode a few new trails where these 18-24" steps and larger were sendable, so I started trying to send them. Getting more comfortable with it, I have been sending these steps way more now, even on trails I'd ridden for years and never thought to do it on. Gotta get out of your own way.
  14. I just moved my cheap eBay ring to a crank set with a power meter. Will see if there is much difference on some of the hills on my ride to the ride route. Will report back. The feeling is subtle though, I had it initially clocked wrong my 90* and I could certainly tell then.
  15. We've all seen the videos, just too nice to say anything.
  16. Nope rope yesterday. Took awhile to chase off the trail. Hognose. Boy did he make a lot of noise and object to being pushed out of the way.
  17. Or you can get a longer bolt more washers and go grind some rails with that thing
  18. I like the Park Tools Tire Boot as well. Can help with really ugly sidewall issues. As for inserts, I actually feel more comfortable having them in for a Colorado trip in July. Granted, I cannot take my tire off easily with the Rimpact installed, so swapping to a tube is going to be tough. But I have extra juice and boogers to fix small stuff. Really big stuff, where you know the tire is toast anyway, the Rimpact is so large I can ride down on just the Rimpact. For all the small stuff, I have an empty Nuuns tube to hold it all: masterlink Park tire boot valve core (2x) Presta/Schrader adapter boogers and reemer $5 keeps it all safe and secure and in one place On the SS I also like to carry 2 master links, a chain tool, and a section of chain. Since I cannot shorten the chain if I have a problem. That's only on really long, far from home stuff.
  19. For finish work the little HF pancake works great. I've run 4" framing nails with it as well, you just cannot hammer out 20 rapid fire without it needing to air up.
  20. I totally missed that. Including Form1? I built two last year with all the paperwork. Would LOVE another really big one.
  21. Well, I got the 30t Oval to work on my SS. It's a strange bike and I was able to adjust the BB shell over a tiny bit, plus found a half thickness BB spacer in the tool box. I also moved the ebay rainbow 32t ring to a different crankset and in doing so noticed it already has some pretty significant wear marks from just one ride. So lesson learned, these cheap rings cannot handle the torque of SS riding. I'll start looking for a good deal on a 104BCD 32T AB ring.
  22. Is it even a GT if there is no triple triangle?
