  1. Just stumbled on this fascinating 6-part series on bicycles used in military applications. The Swiss did not disband their elite bike corps until 2003. This is on the CampFire.com web site -- they are a bricks and mortar shop in Tucson that is focused on bikepacking. I'll link the first article - there are links to the other articles at the top of each page. A Brief, Illustrated History of the Bicycle at War, Part 1: Boers on Bikes These are the subsequent topics Part 2 The Great War Part 3 The Bikes of WWII Part 4 How the Bicycle Won the Vietnam War Part 5 The Swiss Army Bicycle Part 6 Bikes in the Cold War and Beyond

  2. From Paul Uhl: With a very heavy heart, I have to let rider's know that the back 1000 acre's at Rockyhill Ranch did sell. They will be putting up signs to keep rider's/runner's out pretty soon. On a good note! The new owner is going to let me have one last "Fat Chucks Final Revenge", using all the back trails in late December this year. We will be creating some more trails on the front 300 acre's. I'm planning on having some marked before I leave for the Summer. So if you are interested in helping cut some new trails at the ranch. Let me know!

  4. Was the last day I ever rode a motorcycle. Hit by another rider, and busted up pretty damn bad. Thank the lawd for mountain bikes.

  5. Cracked up when I saw this lady in Seattle. Didn’t know they made specific packs for it. Corgi was chill checking out the sites. [emoji38] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  6. You forgot zombies. Being uninformed leads to fear as well. The media desperately needs people to keep clicking to follow links. They are very good at herding sheep for profit...and people are very good at following their lead.

  7. It gives them something to appear concerned about. The fashionably offended and outraged rule the media right now.

  9. I think we can all thank the media sources for this schism. They've done nothing but sensationalize/politicize and scare the public.

  10. I won't ride on the street again. The accident wasn't my fault and once I realized that I wasn't in control of my destiny on two wheels I stopped. I do miss riding on the track though. It's funny that the cables are wonky like that, I'm a neat freak, too many years in datacenters. I was just putting the garage together.

  11. Love this, but I'm not a fan of Roger's on a lot of topics. This one I agree with.

  12. Going back again this summer. Last summer stayed a little closer to town - Flumes loop, Peaks Trail, and the classic loop. Looking for other recommendations. Mostly for starts from town, but open to loops (15-20mi) or point rides where the wife can drop me off. Been looking around MTB Project, so good trails info, just looking for hints on stringing stuff together. Also, looks like the ski resort is open for riding, any insight? More focused on XC and trail than lift run.

  15. I'm tired of disposable everything. We cannot keep just throwing stuff away constantly. I have 3 sets of REI shorts from probably that long ago and I love them. They're not my riding shorts (I just wear bibs, but I've worn these for riding pump track and casual rides) but I've worn them a lot for 15+ years for a lot of things. One of them had the zipper go bad and I will get this fixed. I am not sure REI brand is as good as it used to be though. For jeans, I used to buy cheaper ones from Old Navy and they'd wear out in a year. I started buying $80 jeans and they last way longer, like years and years.
