I thought it was "junk in the trunk"?

Brian is right, life is too short for cheap chamois. I use these: https://www.amazon.com/Louis-Garneau-Optimum-Shorts-Black/dp/B00NMK9DTO/ Cheap (in relative terms), durable and comfortable. I won't go any cheaper. Get. A. Name. Brand.

Great bike for ladies that want to ride but just don't feel comfortable on a bike. Flat foot technology means that when you stop you can put your foot down and maintain balance. 7-speed Shimano derailleur. Bike is well maintained. $250

A new adventure/experiment: Custom Hardtail Frame!
AustinBike replied to gotdurt's topic in Mountain Biking Discussion
Not a conspiracy, just an overworked and understaffed company in my opinion. Part of what I pay for when I buy a bike is the support, or at least response, from the manufacturer. -

I'd be skeptical. If it takes the promise of potential revenue from a new customer to get them to deal with an existing customer that is a red flag to me. -
Including this Tuesday. Trails should be in decent shape, maybe even that spot by the pool.

The social group typically leave around 5 or so. I usually get there between 4 and 4:30 to do a little early reconnaissance and get some extra riding in.

Connected Bull Creek Greenbelt closer to reality
AustinBike replied to circuitbreaker's topic in Mountain Biking Discussion
Eh, city park road is not that bad because of the climb. The problem with spicewood springs, in my mind, is that it is flat enough and curvy so those idiots with BMWs can do their test drives there. Lest you think I am a hypocrite, when I bought mine I did the test drive there. And I am guessing most people here would put me in the idiot camp,so, it fits. -
Despite the shitty weather for the last few weeks, tomorrow looks like primo weather and the trails should be hero dirt by the afternoon.

More likely they are building condos. We aren't allowed to have nice things. -

The Second Sign of the Apocalypse

Yeah, but I live a weird life. Since I don't work any more and hate retail, the only time I regularly see people is when I am on my bike. Or getting a beer afterwards. -

I am not either, I like to ride. But I am divisive when people threaten my favorite pastime. Some e-MTB riders (those who ride where they are not allowed or use their speed to blow past others with total disregard) are on par with people who do unsanctioned trail modifications or ride trails when they are too muddy. All of those groups get the same level of angst from me. There are plenty of eMTB riders at Walnut these days, the majority are innocuous. But if you are doing church climb and someone rips past you telling you to get out of the way, yeah, we're gonna have a chat when I get to the top. It's the general lack of courtesy from some riders (e or not) that I have little tolerance for these days. They're shared trails. -

My feeling is that there are bonewipes in both the mountain bike and e-bike world. My experience is that in the e-bike world there are greater predispositions towards bonewipeishness. Yes, you can do the "both sides" on this one but, generally speaking, you're gonna see more problems with one group over the other. Your mileage may vary. -

That has been my experience in Austin as well. "I paid $@#^%@ for this bike, I'll ride it where ever the F--- I want." That has always been my big gripe, it is people like that who will threaten trail access for everyone. -
Nice result!

The short answer on my frames is that I am not a hard rider by any means, no jumping, no big drops. Just wear and tear on the greenbelt mostly. But I do ride a lot. The Knolly was the biggest offender and that was a burly bike. But it had a design flaw that meant they were replacing failed chain stays with new ones that still contained the same flaw. To get us back on our original discussion, this was today: An unmentionable new trail that I won't mention.

Any frame can fail. I have broken: Gary Fisher: 2X Hammerhead 1X Knolly 3X (maybe 4, can't remember exactly) Vassago 1X I haven't broken: Santa Cruz Redline Vassago - yet (different one, purple must be better) Kona - yet Basically Austin eats frames. If you ride them long enough here, they will break.

iPhone? That is a known problem with them.
