  1. Rain won't come until we are all long gone. Heading out in a bit to enjoy the place to myself.
  2. Actually that is some totally indifferent grapes. I ended up with a better bike, more of a shout out to the community that if you are going to demo a bike, it is worth asking your dealing what inventory status looks like. When the biggest guy can't get inventory then it might get some people fired up if they demo and then want to get one now. Just trying to set expectations.
  3. In my bike search last month the Specialized Stumpjumper was on the list. BSS did not have a single large Stumpjumper of ANY flavor at ANY store. I literally had cash in hand and would possibly have bought at the time and the best I could do was ride an older model of a rental bike around the parking lot. My expectations for Specialized dropped pretty hard after that. There is a benefit from buying a big name brand, but when the bikes just can't be had, much of that benefit goes out the window.
  4. Rode through there on my urban bike, killing time while the wife's car was at the dealer. Slight mist/drizzle will go a long way towards holding down the dust. Expecting great conditions this week. I'll be there for an early lap and a social lap.
  5. Spent a bunch of time on suburban ninja (Brushy) yesterday doing this. I can understand why people are less adventurous. The work:payoff ratio can be low, especially when you have places to go and beer to consume. Early on a ride I am more adventurous but when you are already 15 miles in, the choice to hit something you've never seen before can fade. Also, if I am riding alone I am more inclined to try a new offshoot, but if I am dragging people along with me, that is more of a challenge.
  6. I rode Flowline last month. Riding up it I pedaled a lot. Riding down it I hardly pedaled. Your comment that you pedaled 90% of the time tells me that you were riding it uphill.
  7. I used to travel for a living. Whenever an airline changes their policy, print out the policy and bring it with you. Saves plenty of hassles down the road.
  8. I will ride your miles and drink your beers. Suckas!
  9. Wow, good stuff. MMA? I take back everything I said about you 😉 maybe I need to bring cookies some time.
  10. Planning on riding, looks like we are gonna have some great weather finally!
  11. Did you get one of these? https://www.amazon.com/OLIGHT-Universal-Flashlight-Lightining-Accessories/dp/B0761RX64G/ref=sr_1_47?dchild=1&keywords=rubber+battery+mounting+straps&qid=1570445822&sr=8-47 Looks like the Sofirn is a diving light, not a bike light.
  12. Good point. Mine have XD (I'm assuming because it is a SRAM drivetrain), but at that price, it may be worth it for some people if they are also eyeing a new cassette.
  13. Got these on my new bike, they're pretty good. Down the road I will change them out but there is no need to right now. https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/WPDTSWISSM1900/dt-swiss-m-1900-spline-29-6-bolt-wheelset---front-15mm---rear-12x142mm?utm_source=The+Planet+X+and+On-One+Mailing+List&utm_campaign=c6863c1a43-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2019_10_06_08_47&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_561486488b-c6863c1a43-274016313&mc_cid=c6863c1a43&mc_eid=7c6b35a5ae This is $400 wheel set for just a little over $100. Pretty good deal.
  14. Once saw a roadrunner on the BCGB and then quickly afterward came across a dead coyote. Very fitting.
  15. No longer have a bike with a 30.9mm seat tube diameter so I can't use this any more. Great condition, excellent product, love the PNW stuff. $100
  16. This is really a good idea. I absolutely HATE that my battery is a velcro attachment to the frame, it bangs around a lot. I have been able to rig something up for my SS on the stem, but for my FS the stem will be too short for that.
  17. It is, my SS is identical and tons of fun to ride.
  18. Probably 2017 or 2018. I bought the frame around the beginning of this year.
  19. All yours. Wish I had put that stuff in my car yesterday. I think it is an Avid, not a Shimano and it is 185, not 180, so you may need some spacers. I'll have it for you next week.
  20. Hipster handlebars, QR skewers, 185mm rotor and Shimano brake (may/may not work). The ODI grips are already claimed.
  21. I built this up but just don't ride it much, too close to my singlespeed I guess. It is a great bike and handles great. Right now the bars are a little high because the steerer tube is uncut (since it is a Pike it might find its way onto someone else's bike...) Here are the specs: Vassago Verhauen steel frame, medium. I normally ride a large but their frames run big and a medium fits me at ~5' 11" Chris King Headset Chris King wheel set 29"; 100x15mm front, 142x12mm rear Stans Arch EX rims, 24.6mm width, tubeless RockShox Pike fork, currently spaced at 130mm, can go to 150mm, full steerer tube (assuming the buyer may want to swap it to their FS bike, but runs great on this one.) SRAM X.0 10-speed shifter and chain Shimano 11-36T cassette SRAM crankset RaceFace 32T narrow-wide chain ring Avid Elixr hydraulic brakes 730mm aluminum bars Truvativ T-20 stem Ergon grips On-One Chunky Monkey tires, 29x2.4 only about 2-300 miles of total use BYOP (bring your own pedals) Roughly 26 pounds without pedals Also includes: Singlespeed dropouts for converting the bike to singlespeed Price as pictured: $1200 Price as pictured with upgrade to 27.2mm PNW Pine dropper $1350
  22. This is a very durable and very rideable bike for Austin. I've had it for several years and rode practically every trail in the area, including the EB 4 times; quite a capable bike. Here are the specs: Large aluminum frame 140mm Reba RLI ti fork 120mm Fox Float rear shock (was PUSHed) Hope Tech hydraulic brakes Chris King hubs (135mm rear, 100mm front) Tubeless Stans Arch MK3 rims (on cracked spoke hole on rear wheel, still rides well and holds air) Shimano SLX 10-speed shifter and derailleur 32T RaceFace narrow-wide chain ring (1x9 setup) Suntour 10-speed cassette, 11-46T (more than your will ever need in Austin) RaceFace Crank and bash guard KMC chain Can Creek 40 headset Thomson 30.9mm seatpost (incredibly brand new, never been ridden) Easton carbon riser bars (711mm) Ergon grips BYOP (bring your own pedals) All pivot bearings were recently replaced in the last 2 months) PLUS!!! Extra front triangle (additional security against frame breaks) Additional rear dropouts for 9mm QR or 142x12mm rear wheels Price: $700 Price for bike with practically brand new PNW Cascade dropper (AND Thomson Elite seat post) $850
  23. Also, I would believe that larger bars would put you more over your bars vs. further back. This would theoretically mean that you would be more likely to go over the bars. When I bought my first "real" bike it had a 100mm fork and a 120mm stem. When I cut that stem length back I felt that I was no longer over the bars and I had less likelihood of going over those bars.
