  1. Keep in mind what Groucho Marx said and roll with it, "I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member" You can always jump on the odd opportunity to be a part of a makeshift team for some specific event, like a 24 hour race or some such. There are those unique and special teams, though less organized, such as Team Meat Weapons (where your team name must include a reference to both a meat and a weapon). Such as Fuhlauto Balogna. It is safe to say we are all members of Team AustinMountainBiking.com.
  2. If you ride it past J.J. Pickle Research Campus you ought to be able to test the Nukeproof aspect easy enough. Nice!
  3. What Chief said. After watching the PB vid and reading their write-up it became clear just how different this design is than anything before. Kudos to GG for innovation. Now, just have to wait a few years until I can pick one up in a clearance sale, once I've worn out my existing ride. This should offer adequate time to determine if Seth can destroy one of these between now and then. For now, I can at least afford to display their emoji. 🤘
  4. If only my frame had any bottle mounts ... (and yes, I've seen the strap-on bottle mount thingy. Not going there.) Maintaining an ongoing search for the perfect frame-mounted container. There appears to be no shortage of options.
  5. HEY! We are in a crucial moment of weather manipulation here. Don't ask, don't tell is the watchword, at least until after the weekend. EDIT: Oh hell, the damage is done ...
  6. Shopper: I'd be all over this, but, I wanted a red one. Seller: Give me ten minutes.
  7. FWIW, receiving a damaged new bike may have mitigated the usual meteorological response, aka monsoon. Here's to keeping fingers crossed ...
  8. It is always good to let them know and see how they respond. They might send you a new fork and tell you to keep the old one.
  9. Still, you have laid the bedrock to explain the foundation beneath our usurping the mantle of the original thread topic, just the same. Any appreciator of puns has gotta lava the way it has turned out. Go fissure.
  10. It is good of you to cairn, though I may put myself through a little self pumice-ment every now and then I try not to be a chert about it. Some think I just don't give a schist, but that really isn't the karst at all.
  11. I was feeling at fault. Gneiss of you to notice, just the same.
  12. Someone once said, "Things aren't always what they seem, they only seem that way because it is us looking at them"
  13. Has this turned into some sort of sexual deviant practices involving bike frames thread? Not that there's anything wrong with that.
  14. I just ordered that one from ChainReaction two days ago. 🙄 Didn't think to look in the classifieds here. Duh!
  15. Kinda makes ya wonder what a Peanut Butter, Banana and Bacon sandwich might provide. Maybe just peanut butter and banana sandwiched between bacon slices. Perhaps Crepes Paulette in Bentonville could be coaxed into crafting just such a delicacy wrapped in a crepe for the trail-bound snack seeker.
  16. Thinking about how often I've been frustrated getting to something in the pack (food, phone, fizz, etc.) and having to undo two buckles, remove the pack, and all that hassle, the idea of sliding a hip pack around and having both hands free really appeals to me. So, I've ordered the Osprey Seral after much deliberation between it and the Dakine Hot Laps 5L, whose 2L bladder was attractive over the 1.5 on the Seral. In the end, like AB states, I figured that my Raptor's 3L bladder is there for longer rides and 1.5L is more than enough for most rides. The other advantage of the Seral over the Hot Laps are the side pockets, of which there are two, and they appear deeper and easier to access than the one on the Dakine. I know I've liked having these on the Raptor for small, often accessed items. One thing the Dakine had that is absent from the Seral are external straps for stowing a jacket, removed layer, etc. I'm hoping that there will be room inside the Seral to stow those things on the rare occasions that is needed. After speaking with Mike at Osprey about this he suggested loosening the compression straps on each side might allow tucking something like that in securely. We'll see!
  17. My observation on these straps which are offered in different forms by several companies, is how the tube is bound to accumulate trail debris as it is tossed by the tires. Who wants to spend extra time cleaning the tube before using it so that the attached grit doesn't puncture it when inflated? Particularly a consideration for a racer (which I'm not), where time spent on the repair is likely a more important commodity than an extra ounce of fabric would be. Not to mention the long term effect of rubber being exposed to sunlight/UV if you seldom need it. I am intrigued by the idea of carrying a spare tube, levers, and patch kit on the bike, rather than in the pack. Only, I'd want to put it inside something that will preserve it better for long term protection from the elements and still provide for easy deployment when needed. The same "minimalist" strap around a light pouch for the above compliment of tools/spares would seem more optimal toward meeting the goal.
  18. The measurement from the ground may be erroneous in regard to fit. You might want to make other measurements from the handlebar tips and center to spots like the nose of the seat and center of the crank. These numbers will be better related to how they fit when riding. Further, getting angles on those lines measured might offer some insight as well. Edit: Yeah, what TheX said.
  19. 🥓🥓Did someone say bacon? 🥓🥓
  20. Didn't mean to rock the boat. My apologies for taking your love of puns for granite.
  21. Nuun and Hammer Nutrition Fizz tablets for maintaining electrolytes. I like the tablet delivery method as they: come in a tube that is easy to pack and protects the tabs from damage and humidity are scribed for breaking in half easily can be dissolved in the mouth while sipping water from a hydration pack during any short break in a ride I'll usually have a small squeeze bottle with some flavor of Hammer Gel, for energy in a form that doesn't cause a rapid sugar spike and crash. I have a bottle of Peanut Butter flavor on order. Post-ride, a scoop of Hammer Nutrition Chocolate Recoverite with a scoop of Lloyd's of Leadville CBD Protien powder mixed in a few ounces of water. Then beer. For medicinal purposes only, of course.
