  1. I vowed to never run a hitch rack again after I was rear ended and had to fight Allstate to replace my $500 kuat rack as well as my $3,000 Trek Cronus Pro. Been running this since I bought the truck May 2017. Recently replaced the 2x4 sections, but that was after 2+ years of weather abuse. Pull the front wheel and toss it in the back seat. The Rocky Mount on the driver side locks the axel, but I also attach frames to corner hooks in the bed via cables when I think security is an issue. I plan to revisit this soon to add another mount.
  2. On these 20+ mile rides I’m getting some serious hand and wrist discomfort and numbness. Looking for some opinions. The ESI chunky grips are super cheap, look nice and have great reviews, but seem to lack durability. Which Ergons are people running? Don’t know where to start with those.
  3. I emailed Transition last week inquiring about the new Transition Scout. He wouldn’t spill the beans entirely, but expect a new release before the end of the year, and expect carbon. High on my radar.
  4. Should have clarified, in this context I would be coming from Parmer BSS. I didn’t know any of this though. Good info. I live near Lakeline/Ridgeline, 2.5 miles from the YMCA. Real nice to ride to brushy from the garage.
  5. I’m assuming the only way to Brushy by bike is to take Parmer, right?
  6. Any word if this kona demo is still going to happen?
  7. I don’t belong on 29 inch wheels. I rode a bunch of bikes, and thought I knew what I was doing, and I honestly love everything I did here, except the wheel size. I have more fun on 27.5 wheels, so have decided to bite the bullet and take my loss in order to get back on the wheels size I want. This is listed on Craigslist and Pinkbike. Priced to move at $3,600 here. Let me know if you have any questions. Medium 2018 Norco Sight Carbon 29 Bike has 9 rides which amount to 140 miles on it as of this post. 5 of those rides are at brushy. Can’t find a scratch on it. Helicopter tape on all rubbing areas and on down tube. This bike is a custom build, Fox factor and Shimano XT everything. Photo has High Roller II on the front, but that has been changed to a DHF. 8. I poked around the new church area this morning. Stayed on the Jeep road as I had no idea if I was even in the right place until I actually got to the church. That’s a vast piece of land that could become a great trail system. Came across a road runner out there to.
  9. Wish it was that easy in the eyes of the Mrs. It’s easier to pull my own teeth than to get her on board with me getting another bike.
  10. So, are we just going to shoot the shit about brushy, or are we going to unite for a huge group ride on Saturday!!?? Let’s do this!
  11. I run the Osprey Savu with 2 bottles. Small 10oz bottles for short rides, and larger 20oz bottles for longer rides. Can also pull the bottles out and tuck in the bottle holders for a standard hip pack. No complaints here. Think I caught it on sale on Amazon for $39.95. Great bargain at that price.
  12. Same bike as my other posts...for now. Salsa Journeyman Apex 1, with 700x43 and 650x48 wheelsets both running gravel king sk’s. Raced it this past weekend and got the itch for something faster. Looking at the Warbird and the Warroad. Those 415 stays on the Warroad got me really itching.
  13. 3rd out of 75 in the 38 miler. The sand pit was nuts. I walked over a mile and I was running 48s. Anything smaller and they had to walk the whole 1.6 miles I’d imagine. 1st and 2nd in my category were a dad/son combo that beat me by 17min, and I caught 3rd place with a half mile to go. Beat him by 10 seconds. Awesome event and fun as shit racing gravel. Hope I can get in to 100 mile DK for next year.
  14. The week has arrived. I’m in Houston for a few days for work and brought the bike with 650x48’s. Going to do a couple 20-25 mile rides and see how these feel. May stick to my 700x43 if it’s a bit sluggish on the pavement. My route is 38 miles with 1,740 ft of elevation, but it’s about 50/50 pavement to gravel from my rough calculations. The 65 and the 105 are much heavier gravel. Since my ratio is rather low I lean towards the 700s, but I’ll make that decision later this week.
  15. Nice steed. I didn’t know they had carbon frames. Seems like not long ago they were all aluminum.
  16. Good luck! Last weekend I got about 18 miles in on my first try before I locked up at Russels park. Plan to go back and clean it here in a month or so when it cools down. Let us know how it goes!
  17. I saw that one this morning and thought it was a scam. I’d request more pics and if he delivers them then it is stolen, if he asks for your email or a money order then scam.
  18. Went from 750 to 760 to 800. Cut the 800 down to 760. It’s a good spot for me.
  19. It’s dry and g2g. First time out there. Went out from cedar breaks at 7:30. Pretty wild from there to Tejas Camp. One large down tree that made us get off the bikes. Made it to Russell park with cramps and a busted/burning leg from taking a really nasty pedal strike that drew blood when I went OTB earlier in the ride. Ended up calling it off and getting a ride back to cedar breaks. It was hot, leg was hurting, and cramps were happening. Just wasn’t right to finish it off. How some of you people do 3 laps of that is beyond me. Seriously. It’s hard to fathom that type of strength. I’ll go do a complete lap here in a month or two when it’s cooler out so I can say I accomplished it.
  20. This is truer than ever before. I went from a Scott Genius 27.5 with 65.5 HTA, 75.3 STA, 445 reach, 1,197 wheelbase, Fox 34 and DPS, to a Norco Sight 29 with 67 HTA, 74.1 STA, 432 reach, 1,159 wheelbase, Fox 36 and X2. In short I went from an enduro bike with trail suspension, to a trail bike with enduro suspension. Complete 180, and it’s awesome! They ride totally different, but you learn what the bike needs from you, and what each bike does differently from the other and you just run with it. Bikes are rad right now
