  1. Dale Ball is pretty great if you want to be up in the hills. It's a bit cooler and you get bigger trees for shade the higher you go. The trade off is that because it's up in the hills and it's a lot of climbing. Bring your lungs and climbing legs. There is a way to connect Dale Ball to the Windsor through Little Tesuque Creek but I've heard it's a pretty tough section that does the connection. Never done it. I think you can connect the Dale Ball to Glorieta too. That would be a big day. La Tierra for me has the most variety and is probably where I'd head if I had one day. Not quite as taxing as Dale Ball or the Windsor and more fun than Galisteo. Lots of single track and a good variety of up and down. They also have the skills park areas full of jumps and features if you are into that. If you are staying near the square or rail yard area you can ride to either Dale Ball or La Tierra. Galisteo Basin is neat but mild compared to the rest of the area. There is a ridge for some climbing but overall it's flatter. Galisteo makes a good warm up ride for adjusting to altitude or when you are already wrecked from the last ride. IIRC you can ride there down the rail trail now but I've not been that far down yet. I always drive to Galisteo. I've never done the shuttle to the top of the Windsor. Maybe this year. It's 3500' down starting above 10K. I did ride up most of it once 😰 I started at Tesuque and made it to the Pacheco fire road but I've also started at Borrego and Chamisa and done smaller sections. Good stuff. TrailForks has good coverage of existing trails in the area but check out this site for what the area has planned: https://sites.google.com/site/greatersantafe/trails/maps
  2. What about butt tattoos? Would your penis guy do tattoo of a butt with a butt shaped tattoo on it on a butt?
  3. For all my time living in Texas and screwing around out in the woods I don't seem to see many snakes. The ones I do see are usually coral snakes, hog nose, and rat snakes. Not many rattlers and I've never been lucky enough to spot a copperhead. That said, I almost stepped on this little guy getting out of my car the other day. Trapped him in a bucket to have someone take him far away but my bucket was too small and he got away before the snake wrangler made it to me. Very chill lil snake even when I picked him up with a stirrup hoe. So he lives somewhere nearby now.
  4. LOL I get this. I've been totally stumped before and instead of saying "Howdy" or "What's up" I somehow mangled 2 different phrases together. Then you ride away wondering if the other guy picked up on the fact that you just yelled a friendly "Hung Ghalaeb Larfulg" at him. My best though, was after a successful 20K PR attempt one afternoon on the Veloway. I was enjoying my endorphin rush in the shade by the entrance and the only other rider I'd seen that day came by on a lap. It was one of those afternoons in the upper 90s that puts my brain in a low power standby state. For reasons that still haunt me to this day I yelled my best Flavor Flav "YEEAAAAH BOOOYEEE" at him as he went past. I rightfully received a weird look and quickly rode home full of shame. I drink to forget this and other things.
  5. +1 for the howdy. I try to remember to say something informative too like 2 back or just me if I remember. My last bad interaction was the lady that just shouted out of my way and ran me off the trail in Bauerle. I hope she got the PR.
  6. You're right it seems like much nicer options for road bikes. I'd only checked the mountain bikes.
  7. I didn't see much for nice bikes. Usable, sure but nothing I would get excited about. But I had trouble with the interface so maybe it was me.
  8. As an unapologetic fan of all things pumpkin spice I approve of this. I wonder if Martha would have tips for glamming up my homemade chainstay protectors.
  9. Bonus. The spray can says extremely flamable. My inner Beavis wonders just how flamable?
  10. I know yall's minds, like mine, tend towards the side of the road. Far be it from me to steer you in the right direction.
  11. Oh shoot... I just realized that's a whole other use I could get out of this thing 😉
  12. How easy are ultrasonic cleaners? Just dump stuff in and walk away for 30 minutes or is it more involved? Because 90% of the time I think about a proper degreasing I think to myself it can go one or two more rides. But I do love shiny clean parts. I've used tri-flow but found it kind of tacky. I still keep some around for use on non-chain stuff. White Lightning Epic Ride was my go to for a bit. Seemed to work good on both road and dirt and was nice and light. Just needed to be applied fairly often. Now I've been trying something different each time a bottle runs out. Looks like I need to give Rock n Roll a try next.
  13. I fear I may have stripped and waxed a bit early in the season. I ran out of the wet stuff and have been putting off needed attention to the undercarriage. I could have gone shopping for more lube but I'm inherently lazy and I'm dodging bike stores like Neo in the Matrix after spending all my damn money in them. Anyway, after more than a few rides since the last proper clean the grime and cake was building up terribly. It was time. But what to do about lubrication? I decided to roll the dice and while the wife took the kids to a park or something I waxed my chain. I had some stuff lying around that I'd sourced from the Performance sale (RIP): Finish Line WAX lube. I can't really give a proper review with just one ride in, but smooth shifts and no build up so far. I avoided mud like the plague and had the benefit of conditions cooperating this time. With moisture in the forecast and dust booger season not yet here I wonder how screwed I am. What are you lubing with? Do you switch from wet to wax between seasons?
  14. Wow 💪 not sure if I'm more impressed with the rider or the camera man who I could hear huffing air at the end. I'd have passed out well before the top.
  15. If only. Everyone in my office thinks pasting to the web from Word should keep all formatting and work perfectly. (┛◉Д◉)┛┻━┻
  16. I am the motor and I run on alcohol. I don't recognize the trail or the sign pictured above but I did go to the Derek Zoolander school for kids who don't read good.
  17. I found Mojo kind of late in the game and didn't create an account that I remember. Looked sketch as frig. Thank whatever gender neutral deity you may or may not (as is your choice) pray to for this place. Worth it even if Albert is harvesting my traffic data and selling it to the Chinese. Which he probably isn't. Maybe. Isn't-nt?
  18. Not all heroes wear capes...
  19. I talk even on solo rides. Mostly yelling things at the trail or begging my bike to hold together. Sometimes I say hi to the birds and squirrels.
  20. For road bikes there isn't a great way to do it without fighting traffic in a construction zone. If you are coming from north or east the violet crown trail from Walgreens might be worth trying. It'd get you pretty close to the backside of the veloway and it's probably fine unless you are on 23cm tires. Coming from CC or anywhere west ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ In for C&D tonight.
  21. I had a hell of a time finding my way out of that bonus section once. It's hard to spot the exit when the sun is going down and you need to go.
