  1. Under the hoist vise storage (sits above the hood of my car), EV Sourcing Equipment (aka EV Charger), and under the above garage storage plywood storage). Now we can park and charge 2 cars in the garage.
  2. And I really like the Evan Williams. This is why I want to try the ET again! 🙂
  3. I did not like this. My wife’s grandpa liked Early Times—the cheap one in the plastic bottle. We bought him nicer stuff and he refused it. So after the anything BIB recommendation, this is the first one I got. I can’t remember the details but it was off-putting to me. It could have been a bad memory association with having it on those retirement home/dentist little solo cups (was not supposed to have it there!) Glad you liked it for yourself though. I still try other BIB stuff and like pretty much everything BIB. I may give it another shot now that my palate has developed some more, just out of nostalgia. Today it was a beer day. We went to this brewery and had excellent Strombolis and pizza (thin crust.) super popular with families with small kids btw. Got myself a crawler to go. Made with 100% Nelson Sauvin Hops, hence the Willie Nelson album name.
  4. My son's 18 and has a Switch. My mom has a Wii and she loves it! I'm sure just about anyone would enjoy it.
  5. I have so many bike related and not. Right now focusing on these: 1) EV sourcing equipment (charger) installation (14 months charging 1 car on 110V has been fine, 5 months charging 2 on 110V mostly OK but having to take turns motivated me to get this done) 2) Pet door on our new screened terrace. Screen door has thin aluminum panel, size requirements plus this thin panel means heavy modification of a Hale Pet Door door...to the point I'm going to install the milling column on my Sherline lathe for the first time ever. 3) My Canyon Endurace Al frame is too big for me, bought a used Giant TCR frame. I'm close to building the Canyon back with its original Tiagra components (anyone interested in a 56cm crisp handling aluminum road bike with brand new groupset send me a PM.) I don't think I'm to blame for the rain btw... Loving having @AustinBike's old wifi speaker in the garage!
  6. I’ve been wanting to do something like this for a while. Need a place to hide the trash and recycling bins too (to get them out of the garage).
  7. I went to the despot looking for 6AWG ring lugs (6AWG with 50A circuit pulling 40A). What they carry is downright dangerous (basically no different thickness than 18AWG lug just takes a bigger wire!) So I went to the river online place and saw a bunch of reviews that made it seem like a bunch of brand name UL listed lugs were actually knockoffs. I ended up at McMaster-Carr. Always a reliable place, with full documentation including drawings. The quality of the lugs is outstanding. Pricey but worth it for peace of mind.
  8. As an experienced mechanical person, I like to support the LBS with parts buying--rarely mechanic help (seat tube reaming, BB facing on a new frame), but having to order common parts (even pre-COVID) at the LBS, wait for them, and pay more for the part doesn't make sense at all. Even big box stores like Home Depot are starting to do the same thing. I love my neighborhood Ace Hardware, tiny, but a great selection of things like fasteners with great service.
  9. Used a handful of times only. Very solid, easy to use, has rollers to move around. https://www.rei.com/product/190985/thule-t2-pro-xtr-2-bike-hitch-rack
  10. I agree. My size too but I just recently picked up a 2022 TCR frame to put my old components on.
  11. I’m 5’9”. Should I go with the x27 36” handle or the x25 28” handle.
  12. Yeah maybe it’s a Husqvarna thing because that’s what I have. The homelite 14” plug-in and the Ryobi 10” don’t seem to have the degree of leakage that the husq does.
  13. This is what it looked like right after the storm. Everything on one side came down, and it broke a limb on the neighbor’s cedar elm. Since I had taken this picture, 3 more large limbs fell of it.
  14. RIP 70+ year old hackberry. Seeing the hole in the middle tells me it was the right decision after it became unbalanced toward the house. I know it’s a “trash” tree but that thing provided shade to a quarter of our yard.
  15. How do y’all store your chainsaws? Do you empty the bar oil? I am have them in trash bags on the floor but would like to hang them without bags. One leaks pretty badly even though I replaced all the gaskets. Somewhat related, I would like recommendations on a log splitting ax.
  16. Was that guy all oiled up? It needed Benny Hill music.
  17. Rip those welds out and solder the new pack in. That was the norm back in RC days. Like Kyle says, use a big tip on a 60W iron for thermal mass, and don't linger. It should be very fast.
  18. The man (google) is reading/listening. I’m not shopping for gravel bikes but this was top of my feed tonight:
  19. The crux is more of a Cx bike. Gravel bikes are generally made for more comfortable riding. Don't underestimate the effect of aero, but ardents for a gravel bike were probably a big part of your issue.
  20. Yeah as a pedestrian I would never stop in that island. Cars should stop once a pedestrian starts crossing. I hope those aren't interpreted by drivers as not having to stop! I'll say this for any kind of median at an intersection, here in my neighborhood, I've almost gotten hit 2x while stopped at a stop sign on the right of the road b/c drivers are trying to make the left turn before an oncoming car forces them to wait an extra 5 seconds. They should be more common especially on "arterial" neighborhood streets.
  21. Wr + Wb = total weight. The combined center of gravity will remain constant unless you use some of your power (vertical) to raise the cg. The larger the Wr/Wb ratio, the higher you can "lift" the bike.
  22. This will pay off big time in the long run. Where I live (close to McNeil/Spicewood Springs US183 intersection) we have bus stops that drop you in a slip lane island with no sidewalks in all but one direction until now. These are some of the most used bus stops and walking paths in the NW and you used to have to walk in dirt/grass and off-camber culvert sections where you could. In related news, I just recently rode on Exposition blvd for the first time in years. The last time I had ridden it, there was construction and the entitled and aggressive driving just scared me off even though it has mostly good bike lines. They've since added traffic calming measures (as simple as a raised island at pedestrian crossings) and it's shocking how much difference this has made. These are not bumps/cushions but just a narrowing of the area. Goes to show how many people have no idea where the edges of their gigantic cars are.
  23. This is the proof to the +1 theorem. You need exactly one more bike that you just described.
