  1. @mack_turtle Sorry for not getting these. I ended up ordering a new tire. These are still available for others.
  2. While not something easy for a shop full of bikes, this is a good reminder (from earlier posts this month as well) to run a hardend chain if you can. Even the shorty cable cutters will cut a standard security cable easily. I've got a hardend anchor into the slab and run a cable, but will be upgrading to a few hardend chains for the nicest of the bikes.
  3. For those not on FB - Velorangutan got hit on Sunday morning. Pro job.
  4. Velorangutan got hit by one of the bike shop thieves. Got 4 bikes. I'll post on the main page.
  5. I'm sure I could get them to do an exchange, but after they got hit over the weekend, I am not going to mess with it. If these will work for you, we can work something out. The issue I have is with a 73mm BB, my chainstays then come out so much so quick that 30t hits the chainstay. When mounted on my M770 cranks, the 30t lines up almost dead center between where the middle and inside ring would be. Since the inside could normally only take a 26t, the oval 30T is just a touch to big. If this was a 68mm BB I could move spacers as everything clears with 2 spacers on the drive side, but the BB binds up. I'm around all week to meet and hand off the ring for you to try.
  6. Welds are not always pretty on stans, but dt have always been tension sensitive for me. The new wide stuff from dt seems better.
  7. Nothing to file. I've got a 73mm shell, so single drive side spacer. They suggested using a second. That gives it clearance, but binds up the crank set when tightened.
  8. Can you name drop for me, get them to swap out this 30 tooth for a 32? Turns out the "fits any 104 BCD crank", that's not actually true. Multiple conversations with them today, they told me I had to turn it to the inside/middle ring position but then it offsets such that it hits my frame so then I have to add a bottom bracket spacer so it doesn't. I don't really want to run a 32, but I guess I have no choice. It's been spun in the stand but not ridden. but clearly shows signs of being installed and uninstalled and reinstalled. Don't feel like dropping that mess on the lbs when it was AB who clearly said it fits 104 cranks.
  9. There are a lot of directions you can go on a gravel wheelset. My setup is Sapim Race spokes on WTB Race Lite hubs and Stans Crest rims. You could legit race XC MTB on this wheelset (so it serves as a backup for that). So I am not at all worried when I take my gravel bike out on trails. If you are doing it on a budget, I would look at Novatec hubs. Get them off ebay or Bdop (https://bdopcycling.com/). lots of the house branded stuff (including some Stans) are just Novatec. The price is good and the quality is pretty good ( if you get them from a legit supplier). Bdop actually has some build kits with all that you need. So decent rims are also important. I would stick with aluminum. You could do some ChiCarbon rims, if so, spend time on the forums looking for a good source. I really like to build Stans rims, DT not as much. I think Stans handle tension really well and build up true and round a lot easier/quicker. Pay attention to weight here. Spokes - double or triple butted. I like Sapim. Nipples - If this is your first build, you might consider brass. The DT Prolock nipples are great. no need for spoke prep. You can do alloy, but get a good brand like Sapim. DT alloy nipples are garbage. I just built a set with Halo alloy nipples and was really surprise by the quality. Lots of good videos on how to build, it just takes time and patience.
  10. Alright, did a whole drivetrain swap around. I moved my XTR power crankset to the green bike. Actually waiting on some parts for that swap, but it will be a 32-19 oval setup (it's the WC, SATN, XC racing bike). Then yesterday I picked up a 30t AbsoluteBlack 104BCD ring from Velorangutan to run on the XT cranks on my more trail oriented SS. Chainline is perfect. While the tension changes ever so slightly, it is not noticeable. Wheel mounted/tensioned based on the tightest chain point, there is no chance of dropage when in the slackest point of the oval, I'll have to take the wheel off to take the chain off either cog/ring. Super excited to get this on the trail. I am sure the 30/21 will be spinny, but for where I ride this bike, I am totally fine with that. I love dab free climbing all the hard stuff near me, even if I spin getting there. I'm sold on Oval. Going to have to save up to get the setup on the road bike. and yes, I need to clean my chain.
  11. Anyone around here in HVAC? I've installed a ducted mini split but need a pro to charge it.
  12. I feel like there is a lot going on with this bike. Prostate massage saddle, brake levers but no brakes, big Fred saddle bag. Only thing missing is the behind the saddle triathlete bottle holders. It's also a Cinelli and not a Cervelo.
  13. Getting jealous of all the beautiful i9 wheels that @xl_cheese (Wes) and Velorangutan keeps dropping. I made my own poor man pair. Front left done last night, rear SS tonight. Cheap chinesium straight gage stainless spokes in oil slick and some older Stans Flow. These are on my race SS, which can't take too wide a tire anyway.
  14. On the project front, if anyone finds out about somebody doing a kitchen remodel, I am looking for as many wall cabinets as possible for my shop. I could build from scratch, but they are just going to be garage cabinets, so used is fine. I am also available to come pull them if needed. Free demo.
  15. I'll take the XR4 and the Conti, perfect setup for my older frame with smaller tire limits. You back at the office? I could swing by this week.
  16. And I would go bigger if you want to run a tire insert. I run 2.5-2.6 on similar ID rims all day, no problems. Now that I have inserts in that wheelsets I am around 16psi and all is good.
  17. Any left? Looking for two tires for my more XC SS. Also thanks throet The side load bottle cage is perfect. I can just squeeze a full size bottle into my SS frame, where I previously could not.
  18. Hacking is my concern. I'll literally send them an invoice minutes after they ask. Short attention span...
  19. I'm way less worried about selling more confused by the request for an invoice through paypal. The last item I sold I just gave the guy my email address and he sent me paypal that way. But yeah, I think the invoice process opens up more options for them to push back on the product when sent. So I make sure the invoices I did sent are clear that the goods sold are as is with no warranty expressed or implied. What is also weird to me is the ask for an invoice, then ghost me.
  20. I've been selling stuff on Pinkbike lately and had a couple of strange things happen. They seem scammy, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what the scam is. Twice, on two different items, I had buyers ask me to send them a paypal invoice. Then they never respond or make a payment. I send a reminder, nothing. Eventually I canceled the first one. Second one is only a couple days old. I also had a buyer ask me to list it on ebay, buy now, and he would buy it that way. I declined. I assume these might be trying to take advantage of the paypal/ebay buyer protection, to ultimately scam me. What other scams are there out there to avoid?
  21. I've got a couple of buddies riding beater bikes that need new forks let me ask around.
  22. Yeah, I decided I don't have the time to really get into the research of all these emerging coins, so ETH was a smart and safe bet. That said, I want to get more knowledgeable on coin development so I could maybe start throwing small $ at new coins. Let it sit for years (but then I would want to know enough to tell what coins had staying power).
  23. Looking for a decent condition, basic suspension fork in 26". Neighbor kid FINALLY agreed to move up from his 24" bike (kid is 5'2 at 8yo). I picked up a 15.5" Trek last summer for him (and have been hassling him to upgrade since then). Tuned up and GTG, but the low end fork is trash. I don't expect him to mtb much, but something that isn't rusted would be an upgrade. V brake.
  24. I know you can buy crypto direct with paypal, but I went with Coinbase instead due to the larger options of coins to buy. If you want to try coinbase, I can send you a link and we both can get a bonus. Signing up with coinbase took me about 5 min, and another 5 min to get fully verified (DL pictures). From there another 2 min to setup paypal and trading in under 15 min.
  25. I've been trying to convince my wife to try crypto for years. If only I had bought BTC 6 years ago when it first was on my radar. Oh well. I am in it now. Started taking the money I get in Venmo from working on other peoples wheels, or selling bike parts, to buy coin. I'm using Coinbase as it is fairly easy. Started with $90 of ETH (one wheel build worth of payment). Y'all in it?
