Mattlikesbikes
Anyone have one? I picked up a new DPS, with the bushings for the new 5 piece setup from Fox, only to figure out the one set of hardware from Ventana is special and I cannot get a 5piece in the right width., so going back to DU. cxagent
I must be a hack because I have always used sockets and a c-clamp or vise instead of the proper tool. Look, even Fox shows that method on their web site - https://www.ridefox.com/fox17/help.php?m=bike&id=251
RidingAgain
Very timely thread... I've just noticed a bit of play (just a little) in my shock and was looking into new bushings. I saw that there are two types, the metal like what came with my bike, and a polymer... Any thoughts on the two? Also, was looking into offset bushings to try and lower the BB after converting to a larger wheel size... Seems that brass is the preferred metal for offset bushings... Is there any considerations needed re. best type material DU bushing to use? https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/rear-fox-shock-du-bushing-question/ https://www.cannondaleexperts.com/Cannondale-Fox-Shock-Bushing-Reduce-Kit-Prophet--foxbushprophet_p_1593.html Edited February 21, 2019 by RidingAgain
cxagent
I can't tell the difference between the metal and the polymer. I just ride whatever was in there when I got the bike/shock until it gets loose. Then I replace it with whatever I can get. I have not tried the roller bearing version. I want to try them at some point. Here is one example - https://forums.mtbr.com/shocks-suspension/real-world-cycling-shock-needle-bearing-kit-awesome-998670.html
Chief
I have the RWC bearings on mine. They work fine, whether they make any difference in how your suspension feels I think might be a placebo effect. They can be a bit of a bitch getting the proper size inner sleeve. I initially had an issue with mine, one of the sleeves was snug and would bind but the next smallest was just a hair to small causing a knock at the shock I contacted Chris @ RWC about it and was told to let the smaller sleeve seat in then move up to the snug one. That didn't work, posted my experience on another forum and Chris contacted me saying they had come up with an in between size which he sent me with a new roller bushing @ no charge. So if you're considering RWC I'd say go for it they stand behind their product and reducing any friction I would consider a benefit.

Pushing out is easy with the right socket, back in is tougher without the tool

AntonioGG
This may be the tool I turned in my lathe that I couldn't remember what it was for. I guess it's been a while since I replaced one of these bushings. My Tallboy used to go through them very quickly. The Czar not so much apparently.
