  2. Great ride, temps in the '70s. I have spent so many hours wearing full face motorcycle helmets that the Bell feels like nothing. I can see where it would be a BIG change for someone that has never worn one at all. I did kind of feel like I was wearing a neon sign that said "look at me" but I got over that really quickly.

  5. Went out to Brushy this evening, car said it was 102 when I started at 6pm and 90 when I finished at 8pm. Not sure I believe that, but it was rather hot. Not humid, though, which was nice! I would have stayed out longer, but my light mount appears to have fallen off my handlebars, maybe it was loose and came off at 80mph on 45. So I had to abort on doing any of Deception and Snail. There was almost nobody on the trails, which is understandable given the heat, of course. Did start to see more people as it got later (and cooler). At one point when I was in Peddlers it started getting quite windy very rapidly, like an outflow boundary or something.. That was quite weird! The post at the entry looks great! @HoneyBadger Did you actually plant the cactus there? Look forward to seeing more!

  6. Initially I didn't want to do anything because doing so would void the crash replacement, which at the time was $600 for the front triangle. So I left it uncovered for a couple of months while riding it 4-5 times per week and monitoring it. Nothing appeared to spreading or softening; so I just covered it up and kept riding. It's been 1.5 years of heavy riding and still no noticeable change. Suppose there could be shit going on inside the layup, but nothing obvious. Probably time to pull the sticker off though and check things out again. At this rate, I've got at least a decade's worth of band-aids.

  7. So now when someone asks, "does anyone have a corkscrew?" you have a story to tell after answering "In my ass"

  8. In Chicago to beat the heat, picked up these two IPAs. Revolution's Anti-Hero (green can) is one of my favorites and I always get it when I am up here. The other one is a short run called Hop Butcher (yellow can) that is pretty good as well. Considering that Chicago used to be called "Hog butcher to the world" the name Hop Butcher is pretty cool.

  9. Just had a 52 inch deep, thousand foot long trench put in across the front of our property to stop an Oak Wilt outbreak from wiping out our trees.

  10. I already own the right helmet, I'm going to start using it all the time. Heat really isn't an issue, and it's VERY light.
